I want a friend

or two! I'm not very good in large groups and do find it difficult to make friends but I am so lonely! I'm 36, a SAHM and have two daughters; one is nearly 4 and the other nearly 6 months old. I live near Harpenden in Hertfordshire. My husband works long hours and I need a friend!! Is there anyone else out there who lives near me and feels the same way?

My girls are 2.4 and 13 months. the 13 month old is also a speed crawler. It can be quite hard work with her but then everything is!!

I'm not able to make it tomorrow now sadly, but will be there sometime next week - am free most afternoons so I'm sure we'll go there on one of them (except Monday).

Caroline1852 · 02/02/2007 13:45

Pennies, let me know which day you are going and me and my speedcrawler will try and join you there, if that is OK? Do you live in Harpenden? I am still waiting for a date for my stitch. I am now trying to return to the consultant who did my stitch with my daughter, he was so brilliant. He is willing. I am willing to travel. The hold up appears to be petty bureaucracy! Oh the joys of pregnancy.

No Im not in Harpenden - I'm in Tewin in East Herts so about 30 mins drive away.

I think I'll definitely be going there this Friday PM. Anyone fancy joining in?

CanStarveWillStarve · 06/02/2007 21:18

Will have to let you know later in the week Pennies, as it depends whether I'm organised for dd's birthday party by then or not!

I actually went for an impromptu visit for an hour this afternoon. May I advise several layers of clothes for anyone who does go on Friday, as they have a sign on the door saying that their heating is struggling to cope in this cold weather (can't see the point of heating that only works when it's warm ), and it did feel cold inside.

I can't make it to Big Space this afternoon, Pennies. My 11 year old DS has a footy match and I will be going to watch with DD. Hope you have a nice time, I am sure it will be warmer in BS than it will be on the footy touchline!

Caroline 1852 - i am having the newest addition in the QEII, I was so reassured to hear that you had a good time there. I made the mistake of asking a few eple what is was like there and received a really negative response so was and still am slightly nervous about it.

Caroline1852 · 12/02/2007 13:38

Mumcab - Sorry to say, I am going off QEII by the day.... they were brilliant when my daughter was born in Nov 2005 but they seem to have gone downhill, steeply, since then. I think it is mostly to do with the PCT being in absolutely horrendous amounts of debt so all services are pared down to a minimum. They were rated fair for their clinical services last year and poor for financial management. They seem to be concentrating on improving their financial management rating at the expense of their clinical services. I am thinking of changing to Luton & Dunstable (different PCT with better control of their finances) as everyone I have spoken to speaks highly of it.

Have you considered the Lister Caroline? I had dd there and have no complaints.

Caroline1852 · 20/02/2007 16:51

Cansleepwontstarve - Thanks for recommendation re Lister. I have heard lots of people say good things about it. I went last week to Luton & Dunstable for a cervical stitch (QEII could not fit me in). I was only in for one night and v groggy due to general anaesthetic but the staff were lovely and I was impressed with the place. The consultant who did the cervical suture is happy for me to transfer to him at Luton & DUnstable should I want to. I was not in the best frame of mind to make that big decision, so decided not to think about it. Will return to my QEII consultant (who I like v much and it is not his fault that the hospital is under resourced) for my 20 week anomaly scan in a couple of weeks, then decide after that. I had a brilliant experience with an elective caesarean at QEII in Nov 2005.
