I want a friend

or two! I'm not very good in large groups and do find it difficult to make friends but I am so lonely! I'm 36, a SAHM and have two daughters; one is nearly 4 and the other nearly 6 months old. I live near Harpenden in Hertfordshire. My husband works long hours and I need a friend!! Is there anyone else out there who lives near me and feels the same way?

Hi Toot Toot,

I'm in St Albans and I have a ds whos just turned 4 and a dd 17months.

Does your eldest dd go to morning or afternoon nursery?

nikcola is your 5 yr old at school all day?

Mumcab · 16/01/2007 12:17

EllieH'smum Sounds great 1130ish is fine. Do you have the school run to do or are yours pre school?

EllieHsMum · 16/01/2007 12:39

mumcab just 1 dd 8 months old

Mumcab · 16/01/2007 12:51

The whole labour thing must be quite fresh in your mind then. I have a dd and ds, it's been a while though, there are 7years between each of mine, dd is 14, ds is 7, thisone is due in April. Very odd, it could be something to do with the fact that it takes me seven years to forgive my dh for the whole pregnancy/labour thing. The term 'blossoming' never really cuts it.

EllieHsMum · 16/01/2007 16:54

mumcab On the other thread you said labour lasted 3 days! It must have been awful
I was very fortunate had C Section due to previous surgery for bowel removal & adhesion removal. Consultant insisted on CSection. It was fine, no stress involved & very quick. Was very ill hours later couldnt stop being sick, so the midwife took dd after my dh went home at 8pm. Had to wait hours for a new drip & anti sickness stuff. Walking about in early hours, couldn't sleep after that as I couldn't stop looking at my dd

Sorry - this isn't quite on the topic now but does anyone want to meet at Big Space on the 30th?

CanStarveWillStarve · 17/01/2007 15:03

I should be able to do 30th George. Is morning ok?

George30 · 17/01/2007 20:50

Morning's good. I normally aim to get there as it opens - would that be alright for you? Will have to leave around 11.15 to get DS back for his lunch and nap but should be time for a chat.

CanStarveWillStarve · 17/01/2007 21:01

10am is fine with me. Would you not give your ds his lunch there? No probs if not though.

George30 · 18/01/2007 13:10

that's true I could - then we'd be able to stay till nearer twelve. He is so into his nursery routine at the moment that his eyes shut almost on the dot and, I admit, I cherish my two hours of freedom !

EllieHsMum · 18/01/2007 16:23

princessmel do you want to meet for a cuppa on Tues? I've arranged to meet up with mumcab

Mumcab · 19/01/2007 18:09

EllieH'sMum - Sounds like very fresh in your mind, I amhoping that I won't have to have c-section, it was close last time because it was taking so long. Anyway looking forward to Tuesday. Hope it's stil ok.

princessmel · 19/01/2007 18:18

Hi,

I'd love to but I can't really do coffee shops on tuesdays.
I collect another little boy from nursery when I get ds at 11.30 and I don't fancy taking two 4 year olds and a 17 month old to the M and S cafe!! Nightmare .

I could prob make the morning before I collect the boys. I'll only have dd then.

Any good?

CanStarveWillStarve · 19/01/2007 18:23

princessmel - would it fit better to meet myself and George on 30th then, at Big Space, or would that be too tight on time for you?

princessmel · 19/01/2007 18:26

Hi CSWS,

Yes I could prob make that too. What day of the week is the 30th? I'm not near my calender and am too lazy to get up. Dh is bathing the children and I'm squeezing in some Mumsnet!

EllieHsMum · 19/01/2007 19:27

Hi Princessmel that would be difficult with two wee ones aged 4 & a 17 month old. I could do 1030ish, or Monday? Don't worry if it doesn't suit. We can always arrange for another time & date.

Hi Mumcab I am still ok for Tuesday I maybe there from 1030 onwards. Looking forward to it.

CanStarveWillStarve · 19/01/2007 19:30

It's a Tues as well pm.

princessmel · 19/01/2007 19:55

Hi,

Don't worry EllieHsmum, we'll meet up another time . Can you make the 30th?

Ok, so the 30th is a tuesday too. That should be fine, unless my friend gets me a space at this new toddler group (on a tuesday) she's just joined. It has a long waiting list!
I'll hopefully see you there.

Pennies · 21/01/2007 14:27

I can make Big Space on the 30th but not until nearer 11am - is that OK? Do they still do toddler activities on Tuesdays there?

CanStarveWillStarve · 22/01/2007 15:32

Don't know about toddler activities Pennies - dd has only just started toddling! No prob to arrive nearer to 11 - we'll still be there.

Mumcab · 22/01/2007 20:06

ElieH'sMum, will see you tomorrow, i will be on my own with huge bump and green hooded parka, realy looking forward to it.

EllieHsMum · 22/01/2007 21:37

Hey Mumcab I looking forward too it also. I'll have my dd with me she will be dressed in a red dress & tights.

EllieHsMum · 23/01/2007 15:27

Princessmel sorry can't make the 30th, thanks for asking. I am sure we get to meet one day.

EllieHsMum · 23/01/2007 15:28

Mumcab it was so lovely to meet you & your bump today. Really enjoyed it, hope we get to see each other again soon. Take Care.

Mumcab · 23/01/2007 16:38

ElieH'sMum - it was really nice to break up the routine, we should definitely do it again soon. oh by the way, Ellie's gorgeous, makes me even more impatient to see my little bump.
