Let's Go Clubbing in London!

As a result of Saturday, I realise I really miss going dancing. DH will go with me if I want, but I'd rather go with someone who wants to go!

I'm in East London, tempted by a club in Bethnal Green out of laziness, but I can travel to wherever. I don't want to get really really drunk, I just want to dance a lot. (Not salsa! Rock/pop/hip-hop/indie/disco/garage/whatever)

Anyone up for it?

NotQuiteCockney · 22/11/2006 11:42

I would be happy to tag along for a jungle night, too, I'm really not difficult about these things, I just want to go dancing!

NappiesGalore · 22/11/2006 11:56

also, can do most sorts of dancing around your way these days NQC
(wasnt like that when i was a girl - old lady cracking voice emoticon)

Well, there's a nightclub at the bottom of my street, practically ... I've read references to it in fiction to it being a big gay place, but these days I think it's just House music. As far as I can tell. Not very tempting.

When Greeny and I went by there at 1am on Saturday, there was a queue of miserable cold-looking people outside!

is that the one that used to be called the apprentice or summat? oh yes, that was verrrrry gay before. i hvae seen things in there would make your eyes water

no, i was in a wee place off of curtain road in july after my birthday meal with my sis and cousin and we were shaking our tushes to some drum and bass (nee jungle) till about 2am.

my cousin works sometimes in clubs' cloakrooms to supplement income so she knows lots of places.

i obviously havnt been out for a loooong time, esp in london (done a bit of living abroad before children) and if you dont keep up with partying in London, it all moves on so quickly, youre out of touch in minutes!

NotQuiteCockney · 22/11/2006 13:52

Dunno what it used to be called. It's "Purple e3" now. I think it had gay nights.

Curtain road is in Hoxton, yeah? There seem to be loads of clubs there.

I'm happy to get recommendations from your cousin (or sister, or you!) about good places, obviously!

oh, i had you mixed up. thought you were in hoxton. but i think that place had gay nights too, tho i cant confirm if i hvae been there or not!

yes, hoxton has tons of options. (these days. apparently)

ooh! ooh! you know what could be good? going to a comedy place first, then dancing after... (is there still a comedy club in hoxton??)

whaddja think? NQC? Sophable?

NotQuiteCockney · 22/11/2006 18:33

I don't know if there's comedy in Hoxton any more ... I know there's one near me, but can't vouch for it being any good. I think I'm more tempted by pub and then club, or even meet at mine and then club.

what i think is YES YES YES YES

nappies, i'll do brighton with you and share a room know a fab place, not too expensive.

NQC up for something in london, bit more central then you??? doesn't have to be south, but cabbable?

on the other hand if you find the perfect night near you i'd be persuadable!!!

hooray hooray hooray!

nappies, also up for jungle, drum n base....erm in the very old days when it came out of happy hardcore it used to be called a 'dark' set.....i don't suppose you're an old raver are you? (you look to young btw).

xxx

NotQuiteCockney · 22/11/2006 20:15

More central than me is fine. If you're cabbing into town, where do you end up? I can look at Time Out to find things in nearly any area. (I'd rather not be south of the river, though )

Spitalfields/Brick Lane/Hoxton/etc are all very convenient for me, but I don't mind going further if that's more convenient for other people!

I do want to try that Unskinny Bop place, but would like to go out before mid-December.

I would love to join this, but not before christmas I'm afraid. And I may need a spare bed somewhere too. But if 'ur asking,I'm dancin'

MABS · 22/11/2006 20:44

Brighton and Custardo are defo worth the trip.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/11/2006 23:22

unskinny bop???

NotQuiteCockney · 23/11/2006 08:58
