I have never been to a Mumsnet Xmas knees-up - what are they like?

harktheheraldfoxessing · 09/11/2006 13:59

HoHo - I'll ask around about the Vineyard. I know several people who love it (one actually moved home to get into the right catchment area) but did hear one account of bullying a couple of years ago. I'll put my radar out amongts the Richmond Mums I know to see what they say about it. I think the neighbouts two doors down from me have their children at the Vineyard, so will ask them too.

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 14:02

I've never been either, which is why I want to go with a core group of cool WestLondon people so if everyone else turns out to be a big loser, I'll still have a small gather ing of people to party with.

hoxohoxohoxo · 09/11/2006 14:03

Super Foxy, thanks. Our choices are there or Orleans.

hoxohoxohoxo · 09/11/2006 14:05

Yes, Uwlalalal: that's only because you are blowing us off on eth christmas party - for ROME of all places

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 14:14

Well, I promised to go to the baptism... and then she said, "oh it's in Rome" Oh well, I suppose I can't complain about having to go to Rome, but I am peeved about missing Brula.

MrsBojangles · 09/11/2006 14:22

Uwilalalalalala no email yet, which one did you use? y.com k.net or s.net?

2quokkasandaparetree · 09/11/2006 14:29

uwila do you want to share a family ticket with me to cbeebies?

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 14:43

Oh, I forgot about cbeebies. when/where/who I know I know, other thread.

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 14:45

Oops... I forgot you, bigD. Is now at yahoo and s.net

beksy1978 · 09/11/2006 14:47

Hi, I'm carrying out some research for a personal project and your input to the following questions would be really appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

What's your favourite food store?

Do you ever shop at Iceland?
If yes, why?
If no, why?

What would make you stop/start shopping at Iceland?

What do you think about the Iceland ads with Kerry Katona?

Which supermarket do you think caters best for families with children?
Why?

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 15:09

errr... this is a thread about meet-ups in West London, and as far as I know Iceland don't sell booze so you probably won't find us there.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 09/11/2006 19:19

Uwila, I've just sent a snotty letter to DS's teacher as I don't think anyone is actually asessing his reading .

sfxmum · 09/11/2006 20:40

just a quick word of thanks to all for the earlier chat on schools, very useful. i can read all the reports i like but there is nothing quite like local info and word of mouth.
and foxie d is only 17months but i like my info early enough to explore my options.

so unashamedly fishing for local knowledge does anyone know of a place where i can get a decent facial for a reasonable price?

hoxohoxohoxo · 09/11/2006 20:47

THe retreat in church street twickers has a board out on November specials.
Also, yummy mummy in Crown Road has reopened as Cocoon so I'm hoping to see some opening offers. NOne yet but will post if I see anything in teh windows as I pass it every day

sfxmum · 09/11/2006 20:52

cheer oxo will check that out

festivevillas · 10/11/2006 09:10

Hmmm I went to the retreat once (about 14 months ago!!) and it was lovely Now, I might think about going to the big mumsnet knees up if some of you guys are going. If not, I think it might just be toooo much for me! Can anyone recommend a decent eye make-up remover?! Currently sitting here at my desk with red swollen, scaley eyelids. Ergo no make-up today. Such a good look!!

pudding77 · 10/11/2006 09:19

ahh so this is where everyone's been hiding?!

Sfxmum - my friend Nicky does facials etc and is very good. I think her price list is on her website . Am shamelessly advertising for her as she's not long started her own business & needs a few more customers!

sfxmum · 10/11/2006 09:55

thanks Pud, it seems realy convinient, but i think there is somenthing wrong with the price list page under face treatments.

festive - i am not a cosmetics girl and my skin pretty much takes anything but i use 3 at diff. time
lush - ultra bland;clarins the blue bottle liquid; and body shop camomile, they all work fine for me

Uwilalalalalala · 10/11/2006 10:20

Oh oh... I'm likin' this Nicky chick's website. Where is she? It says Brentford Dock. I work in Brentford and am thinking I could nip out at lunch time, or chuch it in a bt early one evening.... Does she do massages?

If she is anywhere near the chiswick roundabout, I'm there.

Prices do indeed look pretty good.

Paddlechick666 · 10/11/2006 10:27

just checked SJs site and there's a fair bit more news on how things are going.

she's even included her khaz mobile which will receive texts from teh UK!

have no idea what the time diff but suggest we all spam her with well wishing messages.

Uwilalalalalala · 10/11/2006 10:30

I think Western Kaz is four hours ahead, so she'e probably another hour or two ahead??? Just guessing though, and can't be arsed to look it up.

Oh, and paddlechicks, you can only type on this thread if you are going to show up at Wagamama's tonight.

sfxmum · 10/11/2006 10:32

had a look at her site last night (SJ) will tex sometime this pm, hope the health issues are not serious.

really must leave the house and spend time outdoors today, have awful cabin fever being cooped up all week

Paddlechick666 · 10/11/2006 10:34

Uwila, Brentford Dock is the other end of Brentford to the Chiswick Roundabout.

You go down the main drag towards Hounslow and it's on your left near The Island.

Augustus Close/The Marina is what yor're looking for.

hth

Paddlechick666 · 10/11/2006 10:38

i can too type on this thread - it's NOT the Wagamama thread! [sticky-out tongue emoticon]

you are SO MEAN TO ME!!!!

and i am so kind posting you a map to Brentford Dock.
