Hi Festive - [big hugs] from me too You need some wine and chocolate me thinks. Or a bit of excitement in your life [winks]! What are you doing at Christmas? ...only 5 weeks away....

deckthehalls · 19/11/2006 21:34

There is more than enough wine and choccy in my life as it is! But you are right, I desperately need some excitement and am worried that I have somehow along the way lost the capacity to get excited about anything. All I seem to do is worry and be boring. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day, Scarlett!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 19/11/2006 21:36

Deckthehalls - we're thinking of a swap club, rather than a discussion club:

It goes like this: you bring along some fave books you've really enjoyed reading and tell other people what genre you like beforehand too. We all just swap our fave books, then return them after, or circulate them a bit. We can discuss them too, but don't have too! LOL

If we post our "wants" and also our "fave reads" we can hopefully match some up, so we get to read fab books at no extra cost

I was suggesting meet at mine on 2nd at 11am, we can post the wants/faves beforehand

A bit like a mini MN library

deckthehalls · 19/11/2006 21:40

Oh, what a brill idea . I have loads of lovely books I can recommend. Just recently re-read my Armistead Maupin "Tales of the City" lot and could do with some new recommendations as I haven't bought anything/been to the library for ages (it's the lethargy, you see!).

deckthehalls · 19/11/2006 21:42

Has anyone read "Notes from a Small Island" by Andrea Levy?

Off, now to bed (DD has a cold and took ages to go off so I fear it could be one of those nights!) Will catch up tomorrow

harktheheraldfoxessing · 19/11/2006 21:44

Decky - I lurve Andrea Levy and have all hers. She's great, have you read her others?

MrsBojangles · 19/11/2006 21:47

I'd love to join the book swap though when will I have time to read???? Still have books I bought to read that are sitting on the shelf untouched!

Had a mystery phase yonks ago and collected all 'The cat who...' books (by G. Jackson Brown I think). Nice simple read and quite amusing. Shame I sold them LOL could have handed them out otherwise. Damn you ebay!

MrsBojangles · 19/11/2006 21:49

good luck for tonight deckthehalls... we always have 'one of those nights' really have to call quokka's friend tomorrow for sleep potion.

Paddlechick666 · 19/11/2006 21:49

right, i'm home!

lovely weekend, but nightmare getting back and freely admit to being a bit tipsy!

can't be arsed doing book reviews but would love to be in a loan. don't like swapping books i love!

bit tipsy due to supper being a SAu chardonnay and a packet of Thai Sweet Chilli crisps.

now, watch Torchwood and tape Lost of vice versa?

sfxmum · 19/11/2006 21:54

lost has multi start if you can cope with late night

harktheheraldfoxessing · 19/11/2006 21:56

PC - was wondering were you'd got to

harktheheraldfoxessing · 19/11/2006 21:58

am going to bed now (yawn), have to rise at 6am

Paddlechick666 · 19/11/2006 22:02

yeh me too up at 6am but suddenly gone from tipsy to pissed!

must lie down!

LOsT!

Uwilalalalalala · 19/11/2006 22:10

Paddle, how was your weekend?

I'm off to bed now, but will caatch up with MN tomorrow.

I have no gossip from the party. It was fun, loud, dark and the drinks were a bit pricey. Met lots of people I been chatting with on here but never actually met for a couple of years now. So that was really fun.

Oh, must go check and see if there is any more adoption news from Kaz....

You can count my out of the book swap. I am so not a book reader.

2Cute · 20/11/2006 00:28

Have I been forgotten already? Is nobody going to update me on what I missed while away??

MrsBojangles · 20/11/2006 07:40

2cute... I'm having trouble keeping up myself Not on here properly for a couple of days and whoosh the thread has moved on heaps.

As far as I can work out some people have been away for nice weekend

Some made it to the big mn xmas party and not gossip

SJ still in Kazach and updating her blog from there if and when she gets a connection

Me most probably moving to Marlow (Bucks) in February

pudding77 · 20/11/2006 09:12

Morning all, how was New York 2cute?

I've taped both Torchwood & Lost as I couldn't stay awake for either of them!

How was the biking, paddle?

harktheheraldfoxessing · 20/11/2006 09:16

2cute - Hi, 'course we haven't forgotten you!!

Welcome back - we're also still trying to decide whether to go ahead with Brula on 1 Dec or go somewher cheaper so more can afford to go (see other thread, B4 MrsD tells me off!)

How was New York?

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 20/11/2006 09:20

Morning everyone,

For those of you who have been away, hope you had a good time.

2cute, we are also trying to organise a book swap coffee morning. Foxie kindly offered to host at her house.

foxie,
2nd would be great for me, btw.

2quokkasandaparetree · 20/11/2006 09:28

Uwila I still feel seedy this morning!

Uwilalalalalala · 20/11/2006 09:57

I think this will be a sober week for me... well until Thursday which is Thanksgiving. Tis a holiday you know. But, I don't think any alcohol will pass my lips before then.

DD was sick from about the time I left until the time I returned. Sort of spoiled the whole Christmas tree activity. What a pity. And when I returned the house was clean and laundry was done. I should go away more often. Oh yes, Rome in two weeks.

So, are we considering changing the date as well as the place for the Christmas do... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.... If we do Sunday night, I can come. I get back early afternoon, so plenty of time to make it for dinner.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

MrsBigD and Nanou1, I hope you are both better now.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 20/11/2006 11:05

no one got any gossip then???

What time did you all get to bed in the end?

MrsRecycle · 20/11/2006 11:07

Oh Uwila hope dd is feeling better (and you!). Aren't you glad you didn't go home? You are more than welcome to the spare room every weekend if you want

Talking of laundry must go and do mine before the AP turns up.

I'm not sure I can do that Friday as well so a different date would be better although not the Sunday 3rd as dd1 is singing in a concer [proud emoticon]

MrsRecycle · 20/11/2006 11:08

Can't remember - although I did fall asleep in the bar

Uwilalalalalala · 20/11/2006 11:10

Oh, I missed that. You "fell asleep" in the bar?????
