Anybody who lives in Preston, Lancashire. I'm from Scotland originally but I've been living in Preston for just over 8 years. I'm married with a little girl who will be 1 years old next month.

Juliet

I really hope you log on this morning and get this message. I am sorry to let you down at the last minute but I won't be able to make it today. I have been up most the night with sickness and upset tummy. I just feel horrible and don't want to venture to far from the loo.

I really hope you get this and don't have a wasted trip, I really would like to meet up with you when I'm feeling better.

Sorry to let you down

Pauline

Hi Pauline
I had posted a message but it doesn't seem to be here. We did go to Buddys but it was fine - Ben have a great time.

Maybe if you're free another time?

Hi everyone,
Are you all having a good week-end? I'm off work for 2 weeks holiday so I'm taking my daughter down to London for 3 nights to see my mum as she's been living there for 8 months now, I'm leaving the hubby behind lol as we've got a dog ( a very nervous dog at the moment), with all the fireworks going off.
I hope that you all have a good week

Speak soon

Love Mandy and Senna

Hi

Can I gatecrash this thread? I live in Blackburn but there doesn't seem to be anyone from Blackburn on MN - I am quite prepared to travel to Preston so would be interested in any future meet-ups.

FYI - My name is Charlotte and I have a 16 week old son called Joshua.

squatchette · 08/11/2006 10:30

Hi everyone,
Senna sorry i never got back to you.Things went from bad to worse when my DD2 choked on some food on morning of my uncles funeral FRI 13th!.(She has a tracheostomy anyway) and ended up in icu at Manchester.Been home a few weeks now and all is fine so hoping my run of bad luck is over.

Anyhow i digress i was just looking for a todler group on google and the first place it brought me was here.My car should be here 2 weeks at max so i can come to the PhantomW' meet ups then.

Would really like to find a tot group during week if any one has any recommendations.Going to look into that one on Watling ST RD as think it's fairly local.Kids need somewhere new to go now it's winter and park is too cold!

thanks senna, on nites at the moment and decided to take the bull by the horns !!!

im a single mum with hardly any mates, but not any more. suppose i was frightened of meeting married parents, case my daughter brought up the subject of dadddy. he left us nevr enquired bout her. but now shes 2.7 and asking, calling for him, even though shes never met him, especially wen im tired and a bit wired.

so decided going to go to cheeky monkeys on sat. try it out.

feel better knowing there are friendly people like you out there.

thanks to all

SennaF1 · 09/11/2006 18:43

Hello gillybabys,
You go girl, well done in finding the confidence to get out there and meet new people. I'm married but at the end of the day, I don't need to take my husband everywhere with me, to me, it doesn't matter if you're married, single, straight, gay lol, I try and get on with anyone
It's taken me a few months to try and build up the confidence to ask people that I don't even know to come along to the phantom winger and have some fun, I've got to know a lot of mums and babies/toddlers now and it's great that mums are interested in coming along one saturday out of the month for a good chat and a coffee. One of the girls picks me up and takes me home, that's what a friendly bunch we are.
I've never been to Cheeky Monkeys but one of the girls I work with goes all the time with her son and she loves it, I would come along with you but I don't drive.
Have fun and I hope to see you at The Phantom Winger on the 2nd of December
Love Mandy and Senna

Hi again,
Gillybabys, I can definately recommend Cheeky monkeys. I take my son there and its great - a lot better than some indoor play areas. My son is 2.8 and he loves it. They also have semi-organised song and music times i think they are on a friday morning.
We moved up here last christmas and I still have no friends up here. I keep meaning to come to the meet ups but something always gets in the way... I can definately empathise with you on that front. I am determined to get out and about more to meet more parents and children.

gillybabys · 14/11/2006 21:24

hi all, didnt make cheeky monkeys went to knidsplay near us, the out to tea at travel lodge, they got an activty play are, had a great time,

jus suffering with tiredness, working and my millie has got both ears infected an tonsillitis,

will definietly ry and make the next meet up, thanks for your email \mandy

bendigoblue · 14/11/2006 23:06

Hiya,

Just thought i'd nose in and say hi, I moved to Preston back in 2002 but what with having kids (2 boys, 3 & 9 months) i've not made any friends really. We moved to Fulwood (black bull lane) in March and I keep meaning to go to mums and toddler etc but never manage it.

So hi!

SennaF1 · 16/11/2006 07:14

Hiya gillybabys,
I hope that Milly is feeling better soon. Keep in touch

Love Mandy

Hello Bendigoblue (gemma),
Where abouts up Blackbull Lane do you live? I live in Savick Road (down Hillpark Avenue)

OP posts:
bendigoblue · 16/11/2006 10:15

Hiya,

I think I know where that is, live just up from the Plungington pub, opposite the Hillcrest (i think) nursery.

SennaF1 · 18/11/2006 07:38

Hello Bendigoblue (Gemma),
You live just down the road from me, we're nearly neighbours lol. What's everyone up to this week-end? I'm going to a wedding reception to-night with a couple of friends so that should be a good laugh.
Speak to you all soon

Love Mandy

It's good to know there's other life in Preston!

I went down south at the weekend to visit a friend, then my parents, then on to a baptism in London. Ended the weekend with gastric flu, just starting to feel human again now!

SennaF1 · 24/11/2006 03:17

Hiya Bendigoblue (Gemma)
I hope that you've now got over the flu bug, you poor soul. A few of us are meeting up on the 2nd of December if you fancy meeting up with some mums and babies?

Take care

Love Mandy
