Been here 7yrs now have 2 ds's 2yrs and 6months and am married to a pom so looks like I'm here for the long run! The closest I get to an aussie now is watching neighbours (I know its quite pathetic). Anyway if there are any others who fancy a catch up, I'm in west london?

Hi guys, am still in Sydney. Am flying out tonight. The trip has gone really well. I got spend some quality time with my Nan and caught up with old friends and relatives so all in all it has been really positive.
So positive in fact DH and I are considering whether we would like to live in Australia again. Big descisions, anyway I would love to meetup with some you guys when I return and am over the Jetlag. I think its half term soon so maybe we can finally do that Kew thing.

quokka · 15/10/2006 09:35

Gosh its quite on here!

Have you started doing your special exercises kaybee

Think ds1 has had a surge of testosterone, he is so full of beans and has started climbing and jumping off anything he can find! Also loves screaming "no!" at me .

OP posts:
quokka · 16/10/2006 19:24

quiet!

Yes it was a quiet day yesterday, wasn't it. I went to Mme Tussauds with a friend, I hadn't been there and it was something touristy I wanted to do!

I started my 'special exercises' last week! Not entirely sure if I am doing it right but am giving it a go!!

That doesn't sound like your DS1 ! Do you think it's the onset of 'terrible two's'....?

Kaybee7777 · 17/10/2006 09:47

Am going for my tour of the labour ward this afternoon so fingers crossed it all seems okay!!

Veggiemummy · 17/10/2006 10:58

My DS had his first proper tantrum just now, he has been building up to it for about a month now but we have always been able to divert him. But this morning he just lost it because i wouldnt let him help me mop the floor. I tried the usual diversion but no he wanted to mop the floor and that was that. in the end i picked him up and popped him in his play corner, were he screamed a little longer then made little sobbing noises and then finally (when i had finished the mopping luckily) he came into the kitchen looking very hard done by and put his arms up for a cuddle. Then that done all was better. I only wish it was always going to be that easy. he's only 14months so we have a long way to go.

he also has some teeth coming through at the moment so is a little more grizzly with that.

Kaybee7777 · 17/10/2006 11:09

Oh no I guess that's the start of what's to come...
That's so sweet though that when he calmed down he came in for a cuddle

quokka · 17/10/2006 17:21

Oh I just love tantrums in public places - everyone stares!

How was the hospital tour kaybee?

It was alright. All the labour rooms were in use though, so didn't get to see one. Saw the room with the birthing pool, and they have those birth balls there to use too. And there is a bath you can use while in labour, and listen to your own music in there... I guess it will be OK

quokka · 17/10/2006 19:08

I remember that above my birthing pool was a disco ball and when the lights were swithed off it looked lovely. I would demand your own disco ball , do you feel better about itall now?

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 17/10/2006 21:14

ooooh a disco ball sounds wonderful, unfortunately i don't think they do them! Maybe i can take my own!
Am feeling ok at the moment, but that could change at any time! But it is good to have seen how it all works...

Veggiemummy · 17/10/2006 21:44

that all sounds pretty good Kaybee, the mirror ball sounds fabulous Quokka.

Kaybee7777 · 18/10/2006 12:49

i am sooooo bored today. Was going to make muffins but have no chocolate chips to put in them!
Went to the madwife this morning, everything seems fine, baby is growing well apparently though she said I was lucky to have a small bump

Veggiemummy · 18/10/2006 17:04

mmmm muffins yum, i have gotten right into cooking muffins since becoming a mum, my favs are banana or blueberry, though i just found a recipe for a savoury muffin which is really yum. The only prob with muffins is i tend to eat most of them and quickly.

DS and i chucked a sickie today, i used the excuse that he had a cold, but he is perfectly fine (although is a bit snuffly as is teething. We had a lovely day after i had called in sick to work and to his nursery we stayed in all morning watched Shrek and put his teepee up in the house, and then it got as bit sunnier in the afternoon so went to the soft play at Canary wharf and met and Aussie nanny which was nice for a chat.

i decided i needed to get a couple of "sickies" in before i finish work.

Kaybee7777 · 18/10/2006 17:53

Ha ha ha good for you Sounds like you had a lovely day!

I have only tasted one of my muffins, am trying to be good but know I will probably scoff them all within a couple of days... I made banana and choc chip last week, and I did scones which were nice. I would quite like to do blueberry muffins, guess I need blueberries for that!

Veggiemummy · 18/10/2006 20:09

i tried frozens blueberries once... not as good as fresh. mmmm i am really feeling like muffins, my husband just ate the last of my last banana batch and i'm working the next four days so will have to buy one at work i think as no time for cooking.

cori · 18/10/2006 21:23

Ok, so who is up for meetup next week. Its half term and I can make it at an time. Kew would be good.

quokka · 19/10/2006 08:48

Sounds good cori ds1 will still be going to nursery so Mon, and Thurs would be good for me?

How was the flight back?

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 19/10/2006 11:40

I might be able to make it, depends how I am feeling Can do any day except Tue and Wed so that ties in nicely with quokka.....

cori · 19/10/2006 11:52

Flight back was good thanks. Amzing really, before i had kids I imagined that flying for 24 hours with children would be a fate worse than death but really it is not that bad, espeially if yout travel with Medised.

Thursday sounds good. WHat time?

Kaybee7777 · 19/10/2006 11:56

Thats great that you had a good flight cori, we are flying back to NZ with baby mid next year and I have been worrying what it will be like...
