Thought I would start a new thread as the old one is getting full.

Next meet up is on Wednesday 10th April, 10ish at the Durham Botanical Gardens. We will either be in the entrance or staking a couple of the picnic tables by the pond.
I will be giving Vikinglady a lift.

but at the minute it is a moot point as he is teething so while I went out for a run dh gave him calpol because dh has not yet learned that calpol = hyper. ibuprofen = zonk at bedtime!

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 07/08/2013 20:26

Medised even better Grin . I would like to point out that I do not randomly drug my children, it was prescribed by the gp

Indith · 07/08/2013 20:34

ah the golden days of medised. twas allowed when our biggest boys were small wasn't it. ds1 certainly slept on it but he'd wake all groggy and disturbed and just not happy. tempting though!

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 07/08/2013 20:36

Hi found you
And I can do the 14t!

Indith · 07/08/2013 20:40

what are we doing on the 14th? too lazy to scroll back on phone.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 07/08/2013 20:50

I should have had shares in it when Ds1 was small. Bloody tonsils.

Speaking of Ds1- He is currently sitting in the garden next to a bucket. I'm not going to make it to work tomorrow am I?

If my children are fit enough, we'll be at the botanics on the 14th.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 07/08/2013 21:15

And now ds2 has joined the party

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 07/08/2013 21:34

ahh back on (dying) laptop, phone will not lt me post on long threads often
It's StealthPolarBear btw
spiffy, sorry to hear about the ill children :(
Indith, sounds like you're doing really well in your studies
golden, you really make me laugh! :o at the thought of you being chucked over the fence

Indith · 08/08/2013 08:50

How are the spots Spiggy?

Tried feeding and putting back down last night. Ds2 did not like that at all. Not AT ALL.

I'm lost. If I had money I would actually pay someone.

co sleeping- doesn't work. Fusses, hits me, yell as me.
Not feeding in our bed- doesn't work. Crawls over dh and launches self at my nipples to resume the above.
Not feeding in his own bed- doesn't work. Wakes up and yells lots and doesn't resettle until after 2 hours yelling dh gets into spare bed with him where he tosses and fiddles and refuses to settle until at 5am dh chucks him at me.
Feeding and putting back down in own bed- he feeds then resumes the above and refuses to settle.

Answers on a postcard.

Juney we tried CC. We really did. At first it seemed we were making progress then it stopped. I can cope with CC for a few nights if it works but 3 or 4 weeks down the line as we are now it is just leaving him to cry for long periods of time several times a night, every night which to me is just cruel.

On the plus side he is kind of going down in his cot in the evening and staying there until midnightish which has to be progress of some sort!

I have no idea what to do bedroom wise. Think ds2 is going to have to go back into our room and then dh and I decamp to spare bed.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 08/08/2013 19:03

I'll take a and you can take the pox ridden baby?

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 08/08/2013 19:04

:(

Indith · 08/08/2013 22:11

if you rub t against a and a gets the pox I could give him piriton. piriton might make him sleep.

hope t isn't too grumpy and it is all over soon.

BanjoPlayingTiger · 09/08/2013 07:59

That sounds like a nightmare Indith. I have vague memories of similar when ds was little. I wish I could tell you what changed, but to be honest I think it was just the passage of time. I do know that even at 10 he still needs less sleep than the average person so I think I came to the conclusion that he just didn't need as much sleep as I did.
That really won't be any consolation at all will it? Sorry. Blush

I guess what I am saying is "this too shall pass". It was my mantra at the time. I hope it passes for you more quickly than it did for me.

juneybean · 09/08/2013 17:21

Hmm wish I could help Indith, I really have no experience and all I'd do is probably sit and pat him whilst you and DH slept!

Ick I'm feeling very hopeless at the minute, not sure what I need probably a sharp kick up the arse if any one can get time out for tea soon, I'd enjoy that!

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 09/08/2013 17:30

What's up juney?
Are we still on for the 14th then? Am I even invited, I know I have been a poor thread contributor Blush

juneybean · 09/08/2013 17:46

Not really sure what's up, feeling a bit stuck in a rut, all my friends are off getting married and I still haven't moved forward :/ not sure what I really want either.

Indith · 09/08/2013 22:11

juney I can do tea and cake any time Smile

sure sleep will resolve at some point, it did with dd eventually. mostly.

I'm up for 14th botanics.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 10/08/2013 09:14

We'll not be at botanics. T is covered in spots. I don't reckon he'll be clear enough by wed. Sad currently lying in bed watching cbeebies attached to boob.

ishchel · 10/08/2013 10:38

What time are people planning to be at the Botanics on Wed? I'm planning on going.

Indith · 10/08/2013 11:00

I don't mind, what time do people want? probs 10-11 or so for us and I'll bring a picnic.

sorry about the pox spiggy, w and d sorry h and m won't be there.

ArrowofApollo · 10/08/2013 22:41

Yep, 10-11. Boo to pox, Spiggy!!!
I'll bring a picnic too and my picnic blankets.

I have a proper poorly boy Sad . He's lain on me all day twitching gently. His temperature is sky high and he's STILL getting blisters although they aren't coming through as quickly as they were. I want to make it all better for him and I can't Sad

ArrowofApollo · 11/08/2013 13:16

oh no poor T!!!

OP posts:
VikingLady · 11/08/2013 22:32

Poor little T! And poor you, not able to fix it.

Indith I could have written your post myself (the long one about lack of sleep and solutions you've tried). V hasn't slept properly now for 3 months. Feeding all night is bad enough, but DH can't sleep with her in the bed (morbid fear he'll squash her + she kicks him in the kidneys), and she twiddles whichever nipple she's not feeding off!

This is the first evening I've been able to get to my laptop to MN properly! My phone is too lousy and slow to let me post, so all I can do is lurk, really slowly, turning the screen away from V so the glare doesn't wake her.

Juney Most of my friends are getting divorced. Oddly, they were the smuggest marrieds pre-DCs.....

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 13/08/2013 19:56

Have fun tomorrowEnvy . T is mainly scabby now but the final crop of spots (all through his hair) are still waiting to burst. He looks absolutely revolting! He has managed to eat a packet of wotsits, one and a half cocktail sausages and a walnut whip. But that is his first food since Saturday so I'm happy with anything.

Saw the gp today as we were only given enough of the anti virals for 4 days and were told to use for 5. Gp told me that they'd never heard of them being prescribed before. Was a bit Hmm and Confused as the Dr at the hospital was adamant that he needed them (she wasn't a fresh out of med school one either) and the instructions clearly say that they are for treatment of chicken pox. Still we got them and they worked. With spots over his eyes and throat we would have been in the hospital a while otherwise.
