Hi, I'm new to mumsnet and already addicted - why else be up at this unearthly hour? (DS 3y just been sick on me that's why, but that's another story Sad)
I live in Darton, have 3y DS, who's at nursery half the week, and DD 2 months. I'm 35, I'm bf little one and due back to work in September. I'm looking for baby play mates for DD and would love to meet up with other similar mums with new babies who are free at the beginnings of weeks.

Do you fancy going to Scissett next Wedneday then Amber?

Oh God this means I am going to have to brave a swimming cozzie! Reckon it'll still be my maternity one at the mo!

amber5 · 20/03/2006 14:13

Sarah/ Chloe
I'm definately up for meeting up next wed. how about Leapfrogs if Chloe doesn't fancy swimming just yet?
ds has now decided he is not sick at all & has gone to his grandparents for a bit. This means I am finally free to type (or rather go to sleep - got up at 1am to feed dd and haven't been back to sleep yet as cleaned up five lots of vomit from all over ds, his bed and me! MN been a godsend to me last night)

Just gone to pick up dd and found myself calling her 'darling daughter' instead of her name. Have I been MNing too long?!?!

Will we all just have babies on Wednesday? May be a bit odd in a play place with no children to play!!!

Could I throw a spanner in the works and suggest we either meet somewhere where we could just have a coffee or else meet on a day when we have toddlers as well?

amber5 · 20/03/2006 15:01

I did think the same as i was saying it.. only i wasn't sure where else to suggest. I'm happier with just baby initially if that's ok - I still find it difficult to cope with both and hold a conversation with anyone else. Not particularly conducive to meeting new people! Can you suggest anywhere central to Flockton, Clayton West and Darton to meet for coffee. Ooo, as i'm writing that i'm thinking Bretton Park, what do we think ladies?

I am up for meeting up somewhere for a coffee or something if you would prefer, any suggestions? I might ring Scissett and see what temperature the pool is at too.

Chloe55 · 20/03/2006 15:04

Ooh crossed posts. Bretton Park sounds good to me.

amber5 · 20/03/2006 15:11

I can see us going round in circles here, so shall i be bold and say 11am wed 29th march in the foyer of that newest bit in Bretton Park - the one off the new roundabout. If it's nice weather it's a nice walk or at least a good cuppa. Once we're together it might be easier to discuss where else we might like in future.
Sarah, you've met people off mn before haven't you, what's the etiquette?

I'm up for that. Never been on a meet either.

sarahhal · 20/03/2006 16:25

I'll be there!! I've only met up once before and I arranged to meet outside the pub! I've always been a bit nervous as have visions of approaching random mums with pushchairs but it's fine! At least our chat nicknames are all real names and we don't have to say " Are you ....." when it's something really daft! I think we'll be OK in the foyer of Bretton and we all know how old each others babies so let's just hope there's not a foyer full of pushchairs!!

amber5 · 20/03/2006 17:28

Looking forward to it. My name's Kate though (amber is my dog!!)

Mine's Hayley - Chloe is my dog!!! Grin

sarahhal · 20/03/2006 19:45

Just me with my real name then!!!!!

amber5 · 20/03/2006 21:02

wow Hayley that's spooky - we're obviously kindred spirits!! what kind of dog/ how old? Amber's a collie, 10yo.

Well, I say my dog - she was. I had 2 dogs but Chloe was a bit of a nutcase German Shepherd, when I got pg dh insisted that I rehome her as she was too much to handle. Luckily she has gone to a friend so I still see her often which is good. I still have my wolfhound cross though, 2 cats, 2 rats and fish (I used to veterinary nurse!)

amber5 · 22/03/2006 19:32

that's sad, but probably v sensible. reminds me of a friend who had to rehome her dog because when she moved in with her dp they discovered he was allergic to it,

Hi all, just been reading your messages. I'm from Barnsley too and am looking for new Mums to meet for coffee - can i come along to your meet up at Bretton Park? I have a 10 week old Daughter.

Ledodgy · 24/03/2006 21:08

Hi all we're planning on moving to Holmfirth or nearby in the next few months and i'd be up for a meetup when we do. I have a dd who will be 3 a week on Monday and a ds who's 17 weeks.

jobo17 · 24/03/2006 21:19

I used to live in Holmfirth. Where abouts are you moving to?

amber5 · 24/03/2006 23:12

Hi jobo, the more the merrier. Where in Barnsley are you?

Ledodgy · 24/03/2006 23:13

Jobo im not sure yet just lookin at houses there at the moment online but plan to go and view some soon, my dp's bro and family live in denby dale so not far from there. Can you recommend somewhere in Homfirth?

jobo17 · 25/03/2006 09:48

Hi Amber. I'm from Dodworth. Been here 4 years but don't know many Mums so I'll meet you all on Wednesday.

jobo17 · 25/03/2006 09:49

Ledodgy - to be honest all areas in Holmfirth are nice. Very expensive and touristy but lovely.

Ledodgy · 25/03/2006 11:55

Thanks Jobo luckily the houses in Holmfirth are cheaper than in Liverpool where I live now. In Liverpool the prices are sky high at the moment so we'll be definately moving in the right direction.

sarahhal · 25/03/2006 13:28

See you on Wednesday Jobo!!

Any luck with the house move ledodgy?
