o.k. I'm bored at work so thought I'll start another threat trying to organise gettogethers :)

With or without kids... I'm game

The latest Ealing thread was considering a zoo visit of some sort when it gets a bit warmer... and now it's gone and gotten colder!

A woman's perogative Uwila!

But I'm sticking to mine - quite like it.

Boopert · 09/03/2006 19:09

Can I be MrsBoopert? Grin

MrsBigD · 10/03/2006 07:52

go on then Grin

MrsBigD · 10/03/2006 11:33

Uwila did you manage to defend your steak from MrsRecycle? Grin

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 10/03/2006 12:53

I didn't get the chance - she wafted it down!

Uwila · 10/03/2006 13:06

Eh? Wafted?

You've hurt my feeling. sniff sniff Sad

MrsRecycle · 10/03/2006 13:24

Well we had to waft them down before they turned freezing cold! Oh and thanks for the diary; it's sitting on my desk now - reminding me of the things I have to do.

Uwila · 10/03/2006 13:28

Yeah, have to say that didn't make my list of top ten restaurants.

MrsBigD · 10/03/2006 13:57

Where did you go again yesterday?

OP posts:
Uwila · 10/03/2006 14:14

Smollensky's in Richmond.

MrsBigD · 10/03/2006 14:21

Oh one of those trendy places ;)

OP posts:
Uwila · 10/03/2006 14:26

No. Definitely not. The services was most certainly not up to snuff. Steak was cold. So were chips. And my orange juice wasn't fresh.

Oh well... Old Orleans here we come.

MrsRecycle · 10/03/2006 14:33

Yeah agree Uwila - maybe 1986 prices meant 1986 standards - not that I was around to remember them Wink

MrsBigD · 10/03/2006 14:34

you weren't? You spring chicken you!
Unicorn please come on 23rd otherwise I'll feel like the grandma of the lot! LOL

OP posts:
Uwila · 10/03/2006 14:39

he hem! I think MrsRecycle is fibbing. I was around then and so was she. And I'm quite sure the standards were higher. Smollensky's is actually a quite nice steak house in Chicago. So that's what I was expecting. Didn't get it.

And my pet peev is dark restaurants. I like to see. So the dim lights didn't score very well with me either.

MrsRecycle · 10/03/2006 14:45

Oh Uwila - you've blown my cover. Yes I was 21 then and have been for the past 20 years Grin. Don't worry MrsBigD - I'm probably the Grandma of us all.

MrsBigD · 10/03/2006 14:45

Ah there's your problem Uwila... good steak ... in this country? Grin

I love restaurants in the US... lots of good food for little prices

OP posts:
Uwila · 10/03/2006 14:51

The funny thing is that this place says it's American. Ha! Left the good customer service in America.

Oh I miss it. I want to go home soooooo bad. But, just for a visit (and a nice piece of steak).

Boopert · 10/03/2006 19:30

Mmmmmm steak......
Has anyone been to Browns in Richmond? Wondering what its like.
Sil says its nice but her version of nice and mine are a tad different....

foxinsocks · 10/03/2006 19:34

Kew Grill (on Kew Green) does a decent steak (but it'll cost you!)

foxinsocks · 10/03/2006 19:39

having said that, it didn't cost more than I expected for a good restaurant in that area

Boopert · 10/03/2006 19:46

Must say, went to Kew Grill after ice skating. In the worst state of morning (all day) sickness. Can't say i enjoyed it but looked very nice. Am going to try again once little man is here....

Has anyone had Stinking Bishop? Just a thought....

MrsBigD · 11/03/2006 09:36

Hi ladies... totally forgot... dh is away on a course week of 23/3 so can't come out to play as I've got the kids.

Well I guess I'll schedule my first book party for that day, at least that way a few peop might come visit me :)

YanksUponThames · 11/03/2006 10:12

Can I jump in??
If you lot were snarfing cold steaks at Smollensky's in Richmond the other night, you were just a couple blocks from my flat.
Haven't been to Brown's. Haven't been out much generally. Which is why I'm glad to have finally found mumsnet. But have been to Pizzeria Rustica, and it's actually pretty good. Food good, prices okay, the service is pretty good by UK standards, atmosphere convivial. (the Pizza Express in Richmond, by comparison, is about as relaxing as a funeral parlor, for reasons that remain unclear. I mean, it's a pizza place.)

Hey MrsRecycle -- I think we're almost exactly the same age, Grandma Smile. So don't natter on about feeling too old, or my bowels will get cranky.

I'm going to be out of town between March 25 and Apr 3, but would like to meet up at some point if anyone will have me. (you still interested, uwila? I mean, MrsUwila...)

MrsBigD · 11/03/2006 11:35

YUP... well have you Grin
welcome to the 'non-typical Ealing mums association' Grin
