o.k. I'm bored at work so thought I'll start another threat trying to organise gettogethers :)

With or without kids... I'm game

The latest Ealing thread was considering a zoo visit of some sort when it gets a bit warmer... and now it's gone and gotten colder!

hi ladies

sorry to interrupt your meet up thread, but i am a desperate woman! have just moved from a flat to a 3 bed house in isleworth and can't cope with the housework! i had a cleaner in my 'lil flat so was a bit spoiled and now have to work full time, take care of DS and DH to some extent and sweep the floor in any spare nanosecond i have. do you know of any good and trustworthy cleaners in the area? have taken some numbers from ads in shop windows but not keen on giving my house keys to a complete stranger

cheers

gerry

MrsBigD · 07/05/2006 23:43

soopermum... sorry don't know a cleaner... dreaming of having one myself Grin, thankfully my nanny helps a bit with the housework. Have long since (having kids) resigned to not having an immaculate house though. No point stressing Wink

Hope you find someone.

SnowBoo, so sorry you're having a rough time. I honestly feel for you and had a lot of that myself. I gained 50 or so lbs and the "morning" sickness never really went away (probably enhanced by lovely midsummer weather with 95F in 95% humidity). Delightful. Sweating with squozy boobies not generally fun either.
Very grateful I avoided a chest infection (!) Did get damaged tendons (my own dumb fault from manic gardening) and pinched nerves, though.

BUT my resulting ds turned out so well (and stays digustingly healthy) that suddenly it didn't matter any more.

I really hope you feel lots better soon!

suejonez · 08/05/2006 15:12

How was US of A Yanks? Did you have a good time?

I think you're quite close to me - do you want a lift to a supermarket sometimt?

suejonez · 08/05/2006 15:58

Soopermum, my cleaner is full and probably wouldn't travel to Isleworth anyway as she doesn't have a car.

I lived in Isleworth for 10 yrs and can't remember where I found my cleaner - I think I used Molly Maids or Selclean (spelling). Selclene(clean) were cheaper and after I'n done a lttle while with the cleaner we cam eto a private arrangement anyway.

Sorry not to be of more help.

Have now got a bloody chest and ear infection so absolutely no chance of me going anywhere remotely exciting Sad
And wouldn't want to share it with you all.

Have a lovely time and i will catch up next week!

MrsBigD · 10/05/2006 10:44

Oh Snowboo... poor you! Has the doc given you anything to take or do you have to 'brave it out' due to your 'circumstances'?

OP posts:
SnowBoo · 10/05/2006 11:29

Been braving it but just phoned dr who is now writing out a prescription for some antibiotics. So i can go and collect later! Whoopee.

All chemist could give me was some Olbas Oil and linctus Honey and Lemon.

suejonez · 10/05/2006 11:39

Would you like someone to bring you around some soup?

YanksUponThames · 10/05/2006 13:56

Hi suejonez --
Yeah, you must not be too far away. And on this side of the river, too! And yes! a supermarket trip (i.e. to a bigger one than the Tesco Metro I walk to around here) would just boggle my mind.
Ds is 3.5 yo and a real blessing. I hope things are going well with your adoption process.

suejonez · 10/05/2006 14:05

Will CAT you to arrange something. I don't have a car seat so not sure of practicalities (unless you have one). I either go Friday, Sat or Sun and can be flexible to suit you.

I'm in Kew on the "wrong side of the tracks" ie off mortlake road.

suejonez · 10/05/2006 14:07

Adoption process still going slowly Sad beginning to drive me mad.

Ah well, will get there in the end.

MrsBigD · 10/05/2006 14:11

SJ I'm sure you will get there in the end. Bureaucracy is awful isn't it. Hope they speed up a bit for you. Look at it this way... more time to learn Russion (? that was the language you were learning wasn't it?)

OP posts:
suejonez · 10/05/2006 14:13

Yup Russian tonight. Doing more verbs for "to go" have only done 4 so far apparently there are another 8 or so...

MrsBigD · 10/05/2006 14:45

well that's going to keep you busy!

OP posts:
suejonez · 10/05/2006 15:45

It's bizarre - how many verbs for "to go" does any normal language need?

YanksUponThames · 10/05/2006 20:36

Yeah, really. I also read somewhere about how, for a while, it was believed that all Russian verbs were irregular, until at some point they decided that they just had 42 different conjugations or something like that. I haven't dived (?) into any slavic languages yet, so I wouldn't know....

and yes, suejonez, I do have a car seat as it happens! Don't use it much here, usually, but handy to have sometimes.

MrsBigD · 11/05/2006 10:17

only 42 different conjugations? aaaawww

guess it's like with most languages... there's the rules and then there are ALL the excemptions LOL

OP posts:
suejonez · 11/05/2006 10:33

I speak Welsh (badly), some French and very limited German and Italian and the grammar for those doesn't have anything on Russian! Still, I like a challenge and I can now read and write fairly reasonably (doesn't mean I understand it, just that I can read it aloud and get it more or less correct!).

Have fun tonight - I'll be tucking into my mum's lasagne and playing bridge with my sister for her 45th birthday. Should be nice (though obviously not as nice as meeting you all).

MrsBigD · 11/05/2006 10:35

oh no a linguistic genius! Grin
Enjoy your lasagne!

OP posts:
suejonez · 11/05/2006 12:11

No no, would only be a linguistic genius if I could speak any of them well enough to make myself understood! But sadly thats not the case unless I'm giving directions to a taxi driver or ordering food from a menu Sad.

I'm hoping my Russian will improve enough to get by, but for the moment theres a lot or "Errrr, ummmm, errrr" in any Russian conversation I have which confuses the hell out of any Russians (not sure what the Russian equivalent to errr ummmm is).

MrsBigD · 11/05/2006 12:13

SJ I'll ask my friend's husband what ummm errr is in Russian Grin and let you know Grin

suejonez · 11/05/2006 12:16

Thanks that would be really helpful. Can you also ask him whether he'd come to Kazakhstan with me for two months?
