o.k. I'm bored at work so thought I'll start another threat trying to organise gettogethers :)

With or without kids... I'm game

The latest Ealing thread was considering a zoo visit of some sort when it gets a bit warmer... and now it's gone and gotten colder!

I'm SOOOOOOOOO bored! On someone elses comp as mine has been hijacked.

MrsBigD · 12/04/2006 16:07

still bored Snowboo?

Uwila/YanksUponThames... I've got your books :)
Are you happy to wait till 11th or do you want to meet up before?

OP posts:
Uwila · 12/04/2006 16:24

11th is okay with me. But, then I am very easily persuaded to go out again, as well. This weakness of mine is responsible for my poor performance at uni. Blush

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 16:35

A bit bored. So quiet at work. Been twiddling thumbs for what feels like hours!

Back on my comp now thou so have been arguing with ppl. That part was fun. Grin

MrsBigD · 12/04/2006 16:38

Uwila, I'll check my diary after Easter :)

Snowboo... bored at work? I know it so well... I'm there for generally 6h per day and in effect do probably 2h work... good thing I've got my new side venture to keep me busy Grin

OP posts:
SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 16:40

Maybe i need a side venture. Been in since 10 this morn and here til 5pm. 7 hours of boredom.

Ah well, at least i have the internet Grin

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 16:40

And a drop dead gorgeous boss to stare at. Wink

YanksUponThames · 12/04/2006 17:38

ello again ladies -

Sorry been a bit slow keeping in touch. Dh is back at work, with nearly all energy back, commuting to Waterloo station and everything...so it's a bit of a relief with only one male underfoot (3.5 yr old ds), and beginning to catch up on chores.

Also U.S. tax time; insanely complicated for us since we're living here (and earning wages, and paying taxes) but also still have legal permanent address in US (which is being rented by friends of ours). Dh is paying some apparently competent but expensive firm to do our tax forms for us...fortunately we get an automatic extension since we're Outside The Country at the moment...

I'm going to be back in NC from F April 21 - M May 1, but would certainly be interested in getting together any other time around that.
We haven't yet worked out exactly what we'll do this weekend. We're living here without grannies & MILs etc. at the moment so we don't already have the Usual Easter Weekend mapped out by the usual cultural necessities. But we're not far from Kew, so maybe that's an idea. Unless the place is a total madhouse Easter weekend. Does anybody know?
Just wondering...

YanksUponThames · 12/04/2006 17:46

Dang, SnowBoo, you're reminding me of my job before I had ds.

I do miss the drop dead gorgeous boss to stare at!

MrsBigD · 12/04/2006 18:23

We were there (Kew) last year over Easter and it was fine. The place is so big that even during Easter Egg Hunt day it's not too claustrophobic :) Usually they also have a petting farm zoo type thing as well.

So who's up for an Easter weekend meet at Kew? I'll be bringing my mum as she's visiting but when there's company she usually behaves Grin

OP posts:
SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 18:46

Have to admit, drop dead gorgeous boss is in fact my dh Blush Dipped company ink. Shock

suejonez · 12/04/2006 22:13

Sadly I can't do Easter Weekend as I'm in isle of wight (not doing well on the meeting front), which is a shame as I lie within walking distance of the gardens. As someone said (can't remember who) yes the gardens are busy but they are so large that there's generally plenty of space. Tubes are now running from Richmond (weren't last week) so shouldn't be a problem getting there.

MrsBigD · 13/04/2006 07:20

I said it I said it I said it :)Grin
We'll get to meet you yet Sue!

OP posts:
Uwila · 13/04/2006 07:48

Right, then, Sue, when CAN you come out to play?

MrsBigD · 13/04/2006 08:19

Easter at Kew :)

Just checked the weather forecast and its:

Partly cloudy for the weekend with

Saturday 16 degrees
Sunday 16 degrees
Monday 13 degrees

I've got no fixed plans as yet so who wants to go and when? :)

MrsBigD · 13/04/2006 08:20

I even promise not to try and sell you books this time... I need backup with my mother!!! GrinGrinGrinGrin

So have a god Easter and i will chat to you all next week!

SnowBoo · 13/04/2006 09:37

Ok, actually meant GOOD Easter.....Blush

Uwila · 13/04/2006 10:37

We won't be able to make an Easter meet up. But Kew does sound like a nice idea some other weekend.

MrsBigD · 13/04/2006 11:07

I'll brave my mum on my own then Grin

OP posts:
suejonez · 13/04/2006 12:26

I can make most Tuesdays and Thursdays with a couple of weeks notice (play bridge once a week on one of those days but can move them around to suit) Monday and Friday night at the gym (trying to lose weight so I try not to cancel them) and Russian evening class on a wednesday; I'm generally around at weekends. I don't work Fridays so am sometimes available Friday afternoons too.

Do you get the impression I'm squeezing in all the evening activities I can in advance of having to pay a baby sitter (not in the tight budget!)

How about one of the May Bank Holiday weekends at Kew?

suejonez · 13/04/2006 12:28

Whilst I remember, does anyone know a good childminder in the Kew area - I know its too early to look seriously but I'd like to know how much they charge and what hours they work.

I had a quick look on the childminder threads but there's so many of them that I'm not sure I've time to trawl through them all...

MrsBigD · 13/04/2006 13:25

May should be pretty open in my diary. My brother is supposed to get married at some stage, but as he couldn't even arrange a drunken debauchery in a brewery I'm not holding my breath.

As for childminder... word of mouth is the best I think. I got a list of cm's from the local council when I was looking around after having had dd. My neighbour happened to be one! But she had her allocation so she recommended a lady across the road that wasn't on the council list. And even though it took me about 1 year to understand that lovely lady (she's Pakistani) I never regretted it.

Uwila · 13/04/2006 14:16

Oh Sue, your life is going to change in a big big way. I desperatel miss exercise and want to join a gym but can't because there is no time I could go. It would cut in my time with my kids and that is too limited already. Oh well, enjoy it while it lasts.

How about May 13 or 27 for Kew Gardens?

MrsBigD · 13/04/2006 14:20

Just remembered that May 13th I've got a friend visiting from Germany and we've planned a childfree weekend as much as that's possible Grin

27 May is clear
