Hi Any mums out there fancy a meet up over the next week or so ?

OP posts:

Spiker - the only thing that was hell was the constant stream of phonecalls and texts every day asking me if anything was happening! Oh yeah had the baby last week, did I not say?!! Grin

I also was a bit upset that as time went on there was less and less element of surprise re. how labour would start and the date, etc.. I was scared about being induced but it was ok in the end, had a good outcome.

4blue1pink - when were you in LGI? I didn't have any concerns with the hygeine of the place when I was there - what was it like when you were in?

Fullmoonfiend · 04/03/2006 20:32

Hello BettytheBuilder - me too! Done it twice there in fact, and still here to tell the tale :)

rainbow123 · 05/03/2006 08:07

Chapel Allerton's a good place to meet up; Zed Bar has a children's menu & toys if it's a day thing, The Hub is great for the evening.

scarymamma · 09/03/2006 20:13

Hi, just picked up this thread. Made me giggle. Tribpot - you mentioned smoky pubs, there's a really nice one in LS6 called Arcadia that's non smoking, serves great beers and good food!
As someone who had to move out of a lovely house in LS6 'cos of all the lousy students, not feeling very LU or LMU friendly at mo. Families beginning to recapture Far Headingly at last. Enjoy your meet when it happens.

scarymamma · 09/03/2006 20:19

Just remembered st. When had DS, had to get to LGI at 11pm - got stuck en route because of drunken students standing in middle of road outside the Oak and the Skyrack!!!!! Didn't think LGI was as good as the RVI in Newcastle. Midwife I had at LGI was v good, but a scarey one tried to take over and the 'nice' one told her to leave!:o

tribpot · 09/03/2006 20:24

Am stil showering myself off (mentally) from an hour in the Wetherspoons in the station - urgh, enact a no-smoking ban you people!

Anyway, despite it being redstarfalling's thread, shall we plan a semi-urgent Leeds gathering? I am on leave the week after next but can generally blag things as required.

spiker · 10/03/2006 22:15

Made it! It's been a hellish week, moving house and a business, but I'm very glad to be here. Unfortunately DS1 has tonsillitis and I think all the vigorous cleaning and moving activity might be bringing on labour...so I'm definitely up for meeting sooner rather than later. If it's in the next few days though I can't do daytime, due to poorly DS1 (evenings are fine though).

Chapel Allerton is fine for me.

Fullmoonfiend · 11/03/2006 18:05

Good luck Spiker :)

tribpot · 13/03/2006 15:46

Well done on the move spiker!

Chapel Allerton and evenings not a great combination for me, but will keep an eye and see what develops.

rainbow123 · 16/03/2006 11:28

What about Gingerbread Cafe on an afternoon?? Cheap & cheerful with kid's entertainment??

Where's redstarfalling gone?

Yorkiegirl · 16/03/2006 11:31

Gingerbread cottage?
Its always heaving tho don't you find? Ok with me tho if that's where people want to meet.

spiker · 20/03/2006 17:52

Not sure if this thread is still live but if it is...sorry i stopped posting but all the cleaning and moving activity did indeed set me off and I went into labour on 14th (EDD 23 march). 19 hours later Seth arrived at LGI on 15 March by forceps delivery, 9lb 3oz of him. Labour/delivery didn't go too well, and I'm struggling to recover due to large blood loss and hellish pain. I can't really get about at the moment (and if I could, I couldn't sit down when i got there!). I'm hoping to be well enough to meet up next week - any good?

Yorkiegirl · 20/03/2006 17:58

next week could be good yes!
Congratulations and welcome to Seth Grin
Hope you are feeling less tender soon!
Which midwife delivered you?

4blue1pink · 20/03/2006 18:07

Tatties feb 14th this year and it was minging!

Last three births never noticed but my midwife said i was right to question the hygiene there - so i am not the only one!

tribpot · 23/03/2006 18:43

spiker, congrats, and well done on even contemplating being up to going out soon - you second-time mums are rock-hard!

Would Horsforth suit you better (she said, without any ulterior motive caused by living nearby!)

Tatties · 24/03/2006 10:41

Congratulations Spiker Smile

spiker · 29/03/2006 22:10

Oh dear...went back to LGI last Thurs with poorly baby then ended up moving wards on Sat after starting to bleed very heavily. We both made it out on Sunday thankfully and are on the mend, although both still full of cold. On the plus side, I can sit down now!

I can do something next week (except Mon AM or Tues AM). Still too poorly for this week, plus the bleeding, which finally stopped yesterday has suddenly started again. Hope I don't end up with D&C Sad Will this delivery ever stop?!

YG - I think the mw's name was Jeanette??

SleepySuzy · 29/03/2006 22:12

Off to Cookridge tomorrow, give us a wave as we drive past you Leeds mums Grin

tribpot · 30/03/2006 11:50

I'm waving to you from Cookridge, SleepySuzy!

Suz1Q · 13/07/2006 09:44

Hi there

I'm pregnant for the first time and live in Pudsey...in shock, but not denial since I had my first scan! I also went to Leeds Uni 1992-1995 ( year in Germany for good behaviour )- Law and German Law...recently left rat race and got myself a cushy walk to work job for a well deserved rest! Not from around these parts ( Scouser - yes I know...watch your wallets!!!)and realized I don't really have any friends..(lots of acquaintences though )... around here. been too busy..scared I'm going to be totally isolated...when the big day comes...any advice, friendly words?

spiker · 13/07/2006 20:17

hello from Horsforth suziq!

My advice, for what it's worth, is to do everything you can to meet some first time mums-to-be in your area, due as near possible to your own EDD. Pregnancy yoga is a good bet, as are NCT ante-natal classes nearer the time (book early though, they're popular). There are ante-natal threads on MN which are great for virtual support.

Anybody else still watching this thread??

Suz1Q · 14/07/2006 10:22

Thanks for that... do you know where I can find a baby yoga class? I've booked us both on as many local and hospital antenatal classes we can get on...I'll try those TA!

NotAnOtter · 14/07/2006 10:23

I am here in Wharfedale!

Suz1Q · 14/07/2006 10:27

DOH!!!! Its mums net isn't it!

spiker · 14/07/2006 22:20

The only baby yoga class I've seen advertised is one at Otley courthouse, but I've only lived here a few months, there could well be others.
