Just out of interest, as I've only recently got into this site.

Was wondering who was local to me.

SleepySuzy - I had 2 c-sections at BRI. I was asking cos I found the service really different both times. The surgeon's team were great both times but back up on the wards I thought you could really tell the effects of the cost cutting. I.e. 4 years ago I had no complaints but over New Year this time I was apalled and only spent 2 nights there after the section cos I was desperate to get home. Mind you I only live 5 mins walk from BRI so felt 'safe' to go home.

PS - I lived in BD7 as a student for a few years. Great curry houses. Crap housing near the Uni though!

PPS - Noddy - is it doing your head in yet? My ds is still a fan at age 4. He has a Noddy Christmas DVD that we had to ban in February after he made us watch it every single night from Xmas onwards!

SleepySuzy · 24/08/2005 11:29

Yeah, I agree to a certain extent about the BRI, they were great in Theatre, and a little different on the ward. The night staff were fantastic though, and I am very appreciative of all the help I got with breastfeeding so I could go home early. ( I needed to be out to be with my partner - dd born on the Tues, dp's biopsy on the friday)

And yeah, again, great curries, but I'm at the top end away from the Uni, as far away from town as I can afford to be!

And about Noddy - he only does my head in when I get the same dvd over and over, and then it's on milkshake as well! Martha Monkey gets on my t**s though!

sarahhal · 24/08/2005 19:37

Hi all!

Chloe - I'm in Flockton so not far from you at all! Have DS 2.4 and three weeks to go before number two arrives. I'm actually on the look out for a good mother and baby/toddler group to start going to once number 2 is here - any ideas?

Are you having your baby in Hudds or Wakefield (oh,it's Ponte now isn't it seeing as how they have had the sense to pull down the Pinderfields maternity bit)I'm stuck in the middle - GP in Wakefield and having baby in Hudds.

chloe55 · 25/08/2005 09:07

Hi everyone,

Sarah - I have actually opted for Barnsley, I have had a friend who had a baby in Hudds and one in Barnsley. My Hudds friend (she was only 17 at the time) but she was not impressed with the maternity ward at all, she said that no-one paid much attention to her to calm her nerves either and she was petrified. I always thought Barnsley had a bad rep but my other friend said they were fantastic and so far they have been so I am glad I decided to go with them - it's also my closest hospital too. (I'm actually in Clayton West) just not sure if people will have heard of it.

chloe55 · 25/08/2005 09:13

Saying that - (just read my post and didn't realise I might be putting doubt in your mind about Hudds) I am going back 8 years and she was very young and frightened, it was not planned, so she was probably not sure what things should have been like

chloe55 · 25/08/2005 09:16

Saying that though Sarah it was 8 yrs ago and she was very young and probably just needed to be wrapped in cotton wool and she wasn't so she has bad memories, my last post wasn't meant to be a diss on Hudds at the moment

chloe55 · 25/08/2005 09:17

Hee hee - sorry, thought my last post didn't go - computer playing up!! Anyway I seem to have digressed from the original subject - Anyone else from West Yorkshire?!

Bozza · 25/08/2005 09:19

There is a midwife run unit in Wakefield (if you're interested in that kind of thing) but if you need to transfer you then have to go to Pontefract which is a bit of a drag. I had my DS in Huddersfield (DD at home) but have heard that Barnsley has a better reputation. Chloe I think we must be neighbours (!) - is your midwife Valerie?

Magscat · 25/08/2005 09:29

Edgetop/Suzy - sorry to go backwards on the thread but re. the Dewsbury market sunday sale - when you say "very early", roughly how early do you mean?
