Don't know how inspiring mine is tbh.
B: coffee x 2
L: ham and cheese omelette (1/2) with salad and Italian dressing.
D: lamb chop, cauliflower rice with butter and broccoli.
S: 2 sq of 85% dark choc.

Yesterday I was off work and running errands in the morning
Brunch: bacon and scrambled egg, coffee
Dinner: 3 egg omelette with shallot, mushroom, cheese. Plus whipped up a spare for today's lunch, as the work canteen is poor for low carbing.
I still haven't weighed myself to get a baseline (8 days in) so don't know how much I've lost, if any, but I know from doing it before that this woe works well for me.

poppym12 · 10/01/2017 23:09

Are any of you vegetarian? I've cut out bread, pasta, white potatoes etc but made a pretend risotto tonight with pearl barley and butternut squash as i'm already running out of ideas (I can't eat cauliflower or broccoli without getting major gut issues and I don't like eggs or dairy milk). I'm noseying at what you're all eating but obviously not eating meat and eggs limits my options.
I read that pearl barley was less carby than rice but should I avoid it? And couscous, bulgar wheat type things too?

bert3400 · 10/01/2017 23:33

Day 10
Breakfast Scrambled eggs with bacon
Pan-fried sea bass with advacado & broccoli ( Lunch at Bill's)
Dinner Hot smoked salmon , creme fresh & Dill with butternut spaghetti
Lots of sugar free squash ( really bored of water)
No Alcohol
Apparently procecco is very low in carbs so may crack at the weekend

teaping · 11/01/2017 08:08

Thanks ladies. Do you find sugar feee squash affects you at all? I've had a few weak glasses when I've needed a change from plain water but I've read so many conflicting articles about whether it tricks your body into thinking it's had sugar and causes a blood sugar spike, now I've no idea what's the truth!

Today I have cauliflower rice with leftover Thai green curry for lunch. Hope it tastes ok cold! Tonight beef stew (which I know has flour in it, eeeeeeeek!) from the freezer with green veg.

DurhamDurham · 11/01/2017 10:07

Tea I have v v weak squash when I can't stand the thought of another glass of water (usually during the evening after I've been guzzling water all day) and it doesn't affect my weight loss. It is v weak, just enough to give a hint of flavour.

Hi
Having done low carb for run up to my wedding in August I quickly lost 2 stone. Kept it off until crimbo but piled on 7 pounds. Now on 11 Jan and had enough. So back on it I go. Wish me luck and determination. Good luck to you all.Wink

SheriffCallie · 11/01/2017 22:18

Weighed today and I'm 57.2kg. 55kg would be great, 54 even better :).
I had coffee this morning, half an omelette with salad leaves and dressing for lunch, and chicken chunks and courgetti, in a garlic, chilli and cream sauce. It was yum.
Square of dark choc and a cup of tea now, then bed.
How is everyone else doing?

bert3400 · 12/01/2017 07:59

Does anyone have any breakfast ideas . So far I've exhausted every egg combo & am currently trying Advacdos & prawns but even that's getting boring. Looking for inspiration ?

DurhamDurham · 12/01/2017 08:21

Bert I just treat breakfast as any other meal and have similar things to what I would have for lunch (however I can't usually face anything first thing so it's often later in the morning once I'm at work). Yesterday I had the leftover meatballs from dinner the night before.
I'm not a huge fan of Greek yoghurt which seems to be a popular choice when low carbing but I sometimes make some mini frittatas and keep them in the fridge for my first meal of the day. I use a bun tray and make 12 at a time, I mix bacon or ham, cheese and mushrooms with eggs and pour into a greased bun tray, cook in the oven for about twenty mins. V tasty.

bert3400 · 12/01/2017 16:07

Thank Durham . I may delay breakfast and head for Brunch !

NoelHeadbands · 12/01/2017 16:12

Hey all

Faltered at the start but getting into the swing of it now

B- bacon and fried egg with a pat of butter (work canteen)

L- broccoli and blue cheese soup

D- I think will be pork belly strips with roasted sprouts and green beans

Ferventfeminista · 15/01/2017 00:48

I've absolutely stuck to this!

Breakfasts have been breakfast 'muffins' - from IPD book

Lunches spinach salad with salmon, prawns, tuna etc. One day I had smoked salmon with Boursin

Supper green beans, kale with chorizo, broccoli and I think I had chicken satay, poussin, and one night went out and had tandoori mixed grill

Dh says I've lost loads of weight so 🙂

The muffins are 454g sausages, 12 eggs, 227g cheese, 125 ml double cream and 125 ml water

Cook sausages, chop small first
Mix eggs with cream and water
Divide sausages between muffin cases
Pour egg/cream/water mix on top
Add cheese, grates

Cook for 18 mins at 180
Above makes 12. They freeze too

I'm in London for the weekend but have stayed entirely on track which I'm v pleased about.
I had a Turkish meal yesterday which was basically a mountain on lamb and salad. I've just had an enormous cooked breakfast and I donated my toast and hash brown to my husband.

I've also walked for miles and danced all evening at the Absolute Bowie gig so I'm hopeful that will help banish my cellulite Smile

Chanel1967 · 16/01/2017 16:52

Well I'm 4 lbs down and to be honest I've not been rigid. Few crisp here. Bit of choccy there. Silly really because I really am determined to get weight off. I was up to 16 stone in April but quickly got down to 13 but stuck there. I was still happy at that. But went back up to 13 and half. So I'm glad I'm back on. Going to take it steady as it obviously going to be a forever way of eating. I find lunch difficult as I'm on the hop with work so I throw a boiled egg down and go. But then get hungry again so any ideas would be great. Wish me luck.😚

Gorgeousblonde · 17/01/2017 22:19

Hi all, I've done this since Jan 3rd and stuck to,it with the exception of wine at the weekend. Dh said (apres shag) "god you've lost loads of weight" so I'm happy!

SheriffCallie · 17/01/2017 22:33

I cracked last night and had some home made fudge at my friends house. Have stuck to it other than that lapse, and was straight back on it today. Weighed mid month and will weigh at the end of the month. It's my birthday soon so I may have another cake related lapse then too.

bert3400 · 17/01/2017 23:07

I feel so frustrated ...was so good at the weekend apart from a few glasses of prosseco on Saturday...and I've put a pound on ...Grrrr . Still sticking to it but feel a bit deflated . I've now been on it 17 days and only lost 6llbs . Today I've had chicken salad with a boiled egg and mayo & a bowl of broccoli & Stilton soup, plus a few Brazil nuts . Will give it a couple more days to see if I can loose more than I am

Chanel1967 · 18/01/2017 06:36

Hi
I'm also a slow loser. At least you're down. Don't lose heart. I know if I looked at mine properly it would say too much cheese and cream. But remember you're not on a diet but a change of life. Good luck

teaping · 18/01/2017 07:39

Bert 6lbs in 17 days is a great loss! Don't be disheartened!

I'm doing ok, apart from a couple of wine consumption incidents. And I have to confess to a few squares of 85% chocolate too....

cheekycherryza · 18/01/2017 08:07

Hi All,

Can I join you lot?

I know low carbing is the way to go but feeling a bit daunted. All the low carb stuff I've read is american with loads of really cool american products like low carb tortillas and I feel like there's not much support for us in the UK. At least not at decent prices.

Most of you seem to be doing really well. I hope I can too. Got a wedding in May and need to drop at least a stone and a half by then. Got six stone to drop altogether.

I've tried so many diets but always feel so hungry. Dropped 1/2 stone last year on low carb - just muddling through it really and then fell into a depressive funk and put it all back on. Urgh!

What blogs and websites do you ladies use for inspiration and recipes?

cheekycherryza · 18/01/2017 08:09

by the way just ordered 1kg of chocolate whey powder (checked contents and very low carbs and sugar) from Asda and it's only £17.99. That's really low compared to the same product at Holland And Barretts for £34!

Its called Body Sculpt Diet Whey Belgian Chocolate Flavour 1KG

teaping · 18/01/2017 09:59

Welcome Cheeky.

I have a wedding (my own) around the same time as your deadline, we can do it!

I personally don't really use the 'low carb' products. I did get some low carb wraps which were v good taste wise but I suspect it's actually a bit of a con and they are prob more carby than their marketing suggests. Somehow I just don't trust them!

I stick to meat and veg based dishes. I use cauliflower rice and courgetti a lot. Chilli and cauli rice, curry and cauli rice, Asian style egg fried cauli rice with meat and veg mixed in, all sorts of pasta dishes without the pasta and courgetti instead.

I rarely have plain roast meat and boiled veg, or I'd get fed up in 5 mins. Cheese is good to make it a bit less boring - e.g. Roast meat and cauliflower cheese. There are loads of recipes online!

I'm sure some of the more pro low carbers will be able to offer some ideas!

NapoleonsNose · 19/01/2017 21:12

Can I join in too? I've been low carbing since 3rd Jan after a disastrous attempt at a vlcd - vile and disgusting, never, ever again - and the first week I lost 10lbs. I've got 4 stone to shift, hence the big initial lost. But now I've stalled. 1/2lb last week and this week it looks like I've put that measly 1/2lb back on. Weigh day is Monday. I'm starting to get disheartened.

Typical day is:
B - egg, bacon and a couple of mushrooms fried in butter
L - salad of some description with one or two of either prawns, egg, cheese or salmon with a spoonful of full fat coleslaw
D - Meat and veg, chilli and homemade guacamole, fish and salad
S - about 5 almonds or some cheese cubes

I'm hoping that its just my body adjusting and that the weight will start to come off again soon. Anyone else noticed that weight loss is really slow?

bert3400 · 19/01/2017 22:40

Hi
I'm still sticking religiously but haven't weighed myself for a few days . I have been checking up on some of what I was stuffing ...Almonds was a biggie, apparently they are not the best nuts, Brazil & Macadamia are lower in carbs. Also the Full fat mayo has a bit of sugar in it ( M &S) ...I will look tomorrow for alternative . I must say Stilton & broccoli soup is bloody lovely ..Thankyou for the heads up . Anyone got any must have recipes ?
