I am, is anyone else? I'm looking forward to it.

Vitamins will be weighed out later.

Whenever I diet I cut down on carbs by excluding rice / pasta / bread etc but I'm trying to do low carb more seriously this time. I am trying to eat more fat to keep me full and hopefully stop me caving in and reaching for something carby / sugary, but it's really hard to make the leap when you're used to cutting fat out!

I had a really weird lunch because the fridge is empty but made a sort of risotto out of onion, garlic and cauliflower rice and then added a little bit of leftover single cream and some Parmesan. I feel soooo guiltynow!! :-/ I think it prob had about 15g of carbs in anyway so too much for one meal, argh!!

JudithTaverner · 03/01/2017 15:30

Thanks polly. Yes, I won't snack when I'm drinking unless someone forces me to eat crisps. Wine too sugary for me I think - I get sugar rushes/palpitations if I eat too many refined sugars/carbs anyway. Prosecco in particular always does this. (But I do like gin in the evening..).

DurhamDurham · 03/01/2017 18:36

I've had a good first day.
I'm not a breakfast person but had some Greek yoghurt and walnuts once I got to work.
Cheese salad for lunch.
I've just had homemade soup made from the giblets from our New Year's Day duck and lots of veg (not everyone's cup of tea but it was actually quite tasty!)

I need to drink more water tomorrow.

Hope everyone who has started is doing ok Smile

Ferventfeminista · 03/01/2017 21:03

I've taken my vitamins, been for a walk. Only ate twice but that's because we didn't get up until 10am.

Breakfast, bacon and eggs

Supper, bolognese sauce - mince, tomatoes, veg stock, lentils (but not many, ) with cheese; broccoli, sugar snap peas, green beans with butter

Snack, chorizo and cheese

No sugar or carbs or wine so well done to me!

Vodka and soda is low carb and fine after the first 2 weeks on IPD

Polly99 · 03/01/2017 21:34

So day 1 went fine. I've eaten 2 boiled eggs, 2 small packs of chicken breast, a lamb steak and a very small amount of cucumber and feta salad today. Was rather hoping for a Greek yogurt to fill me up but my DH had eaten them all (and denied doing so - sometimes he's like a 5 year old) so I am going to sulk in bed. Headaches are here, so is the bad mood but I am the heaviest I have ever been so this needs doing!

bert3400 · 04/01/2017 07:47

I'm on day 4 today . Does anyone else have problems sleeping when on this diet? Weirdly I feel ok on 4 hours sleep but not sure if it's the diet or menopause. it's probably my body in shock through no alcohol!

Ferventfeminista · 04/01/2017 11:24

Day 2 for me today. First day of no alcohol for ages
I slept fine but I'm still on holiday mode so went to bed late and woke later

OP posts:
Ferventfeminista · 04/01/2017 11:25

I mean yesterday was first day of no alcohol

Hi all how is everyone getting on?

Day 3 here, bacon & eggs for breakfast and a Moroccan Veg soup for lunch. Tea will be belly pork and brussells sprouts.

I need to tighten up and be more organised, the breakfast and soup were from the works canteen and the soup tasted quite carby. Going to make some Broccoli & Blue Cheese soup with the tonnes of Stilton left over from Xmas, and lunch on that tomorrow

DurhamDurham · 04/01/2017 17:25

I'm doing ok

I have a headache starting and I only ever get on when I embark upon low carbing. Hoping it doesn't last too long, I'm drinking lots of water which should help.

Today I've had just coffee do breakfast then cheese, continental meats and walnuts for lunch. Just had a huge dinner of steak with aubergines, cheese and mushrooms.

I haven't felt hungry at all so once the headache goes I'll be hunky dory!

I like the sound of your broccoli and Stilton soup Smile

SheriffCallie · 04/01/2017 17:31

I've two young kids so any sleep issues, I blame on them. The fat is innocent! :)
Again breakfast was two coffees and lunch a chicken mayo salad. Not glam but I do like a crunchy, mayonnaisy salad.
Stopping of at tesco to get dinner bits so I'll need to decide in the car what I fancy. Last nights dinner was a leek, courgette and cheese omelette which was yum but I want something non-eggy tonight.
Am 1l of water down, I'm not a big fluid drinker normally so I struggle with the water intake on LCHF.

teaping · 04/01/2017 17:36

Oooo sheriff a mayonnaisey chicken salad sounds good!

I'm on day 3 and doing ok, though overloading a bit on cauliflower rice today...fridge is empty. Had cheesey cauli rice for lunch with a bit of green veg and pancetta mixed in, and tonight is spicy chicken breast with Mexican style cauliflower rice.

I did have a sugar craving at lunchtime but it passed, yay!

Ferventfeminista · 04/01/2017 18:54

I had sausages and eggs for breakfast
Chorizo and cheese as a snack
Pork scratchings too (pure pork, no carbs)

Lots of water and vitamins
No alcohol

Not sure hears for supper yet

Teaping, my salad was yum. I always used to skimp on dressing or Mayo, in an attempt to be 'healthy' and then I'd be starving mid afternoon. Now my salads are really filling and take me through to dinner. Well done on riding out the sugar craving. The first week is the worst, from memory.
I was inspired by you and had cauliflower rice for tea. Fried some chicken in sesame oil, added scallions, courgette, garlic, ginger and chilli and then tipped the cauliflower in last. Stirred quickly and then ate half. It was really delicious. Rest is for lunch tomorrow.
Feel like I 'might' be hungry but know that I'm not really, it's just habit for me to snack at this time, so am having a black coffee instead.
Fervent, I've never had pork scratchings. You CAN get them here but they wouldn't be common to eat. I don't know anyone who has tried them. Are they salty?

Tilliii · 04/01/2017 22:34

I'm doing this too. I'm on Paleo so no dairy. 🤗

NoNoNotAgain · 05/01/2017 07:43

Tilliii, how do you find Paleo? I tried Whole30 once but only lasted a few days! I don't think I'm ready to give up cheese, but it did make me think more about my dairy intake.

Ferventfeminista · 06/01/2017 08:56

Yesterday was good, no alcohol, no sugar, low carbs

B sausages and egg
L salad with spinach, green beans, anchovies, tuna mayonnaise and eggs
S belly pork, kale with butter and lemon

Snacks were cheese and chorizo

Sheriff Callie, the scratchings I buy are these:

www.awfullyposhsnacks.com

They are pure pork rind and salt and I love them

Hi all, I've stuck to low carb all week (which I've done many times) and am trying to get my head around higher fat too (which is new, but certainly keeps me fuller). I'm doing ok so far and am delighted I've dropped 5lbs since Monday.

I'm at a dinner party on the weekend...how disastrous would it be if I had a couple of glasses of wine? I don't want to destroy this week's progress!

Thank you.

Ferventfeminista · 06/01/2017 23:13

TeaIng, your body will burn the alcohol before it uses anything else. I'm doing 2 weeks hardcore no booze but after that I'll drink at weekends only. I did that before and lost loads. There's sugar in alcohol so the drier the wine the better.

OP posts:
Ferventfeminista · 06/01/2017 23:16

Today

breakfast, sausage and egg

Lunch prawns with coriander and chilli, babybels, olives, nuts

Snacks, cheese and chorizo

Dinner was a poussin with broccoli and green beans

Loads of water, no alcohol

SheriffCallie · 07/01/2017 00:12

Teaping, I've continued losing despite nights off when I low carved previously but i had been doing it for a month or so by then. A couple of glasses prob won't be disastrous but it could slow your loss for the week.
Fervent, your menus always sound so yum.
Coffee for breakfast, chicken mayo salad for lunch (although they added sweet corn so I had to eat round it) and courgetti with smoked salmon, chilli and garlic for dinner. Oh and a box of graze nuts on the way home as i stopped for petrol and was snackish.
I felt really tired today, and had a headache so I upped my water. Clearly the sugar withdrawal kicked in with a vengeance today 😀.

SheriffCallie · 07/01/2017 11:38

Went out for breakfast with my dad and had sausage, scrambled eggs and two mugs of strong tea with a tiny splash of ff milk. It was AMAZING. Feel totally stuffed now. Planning on taking kids to kfc before watching a panto this evening but I'll eat something before we go, otherwise I'll be too tempted.

teaping · 10/01/2017 12:36

Would anyone be willing to post their day's low carb meals etc for inspiration? I need some new ideas!
