So here we are! Over 160 of us signed up!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your first weight

If you aren't on the list for any reason, just go to the bottom of the list and add your name - the lovely Willie will sort out the alphabetisation later.

From experience of previous Bootcamps, the chat thread can move very quickly! So, if you have a specific or particular question, please post it on the questions thread I will do my best to check it as often as I can, as will other seasoned Bootcampers.

If you have a really burning issue, please feel free to PM me and I will do my very best to help you as soon as possible.

And if you're looking for inspiration for things to cook, here's the recipe thread

Here is a brief reminder of the rules:

We do not eat any of the following during Bootcamp:

bread
rice
pasta/noodles
potatoes
flour
pastry
sugar
chocolate/sweets
biscuits/cookies
crisps

And here are the ten rules of Bootcamp:

  1. You must eat breakfast.
  2. Avoid processed food
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds

10. No sugar or artificial sweeteners

More detail/explanation of these rules is on the spreadsheet ? look at the tabs at the bottom.

One final word from me ? the disclaimer! I am not a doctor, a scientist, a dietician nor a nutritionist. The advice that is given here is based on my own experience of low carbing, as well as the reading I have been doing over the last few years.

If you have a medical condition, or you are taking long term medication, please take advice from your GP/consultant before starting to low carb.

Good luck everyone!

Black - I take 95mg of Magnesium per day in a good multivit, I'll up it as that equates to 25%... thank you :) x

I get pretty desperate to be honest and sometimes get constipation relief tablets from OTC, take double the dose and then end up in agony whilst my body get rid of it all.

And I know that this weekend has undone all of my hard work on that front too.... my IBS has really settled, and now it's not.

I am a fool!

Off to put a very tired Nemo to bed, back tomorrow with my honest weigh in xxx

I've had a very sociable last two weeks with dinner parties etc and have had a bit of carb creep, however hard I've tried.

Can anyone direct me to the ultra bootcamp or whatever its called? I feel like I need a real kickstart. I only had 10lbs to lose and have lost 3lbs in 3 months. I know its harder when you have less to lose, and I probably have less motivation than if I had more to lose, but I love this WOE and feel so much healthier and with more energy.

I've got lots of roast pork left, any ideas what I can do with it tomorrow?

Report
loopyloou · 15/09/2013 21:04

Mouseface, I sympathise, I have the same problem, although without the meds. I actually find on this WOE I can go better than before, I don't know whether it's the amount of water I drink or increased veg or increased fat or a combination. However, at the moment, as it's only been a week I'm still struggling, hoping it'll improve soon. I have health anxiety and am too scared to take laxatives in case I react extremely to them.

All the remedies I know aren't very low carb Hmm I hope things improve for you.

My utter wank of a DH spent the day baking.

Fresh wholemeal rolls
Victoria sponge
Swiss roll with lemon and fresh cream

In my fricking cupboards looking at me.
[sigh]

Pag

Ltb

We have been entertaining and I did a pot tusst with homemade roast pots and Yorkshire puddings for the guests with extra broccoli for me.
Did pudding which I skipped then a mega cheeseboard which I had with celery and cucumber.

I have to fess up. I had one grape.
It tasted so sweet I didn't bother with more.
I used to eat punnets of fecking grapes!

I don't weigh on a Monday but good luck to lose who are.

Remember its not just about numbers on the scales- Starr measuring yourselves. Also how healthy do you feel now on this woe?

LilyAmaryllis · 15/09/2013 21:24

Pag what was he thinking!? (Does he know you're on this woe?)

Sorry you're having a rough time Mouse, welcome back on the wagon.

All this TMI talk has me thinking - to start with on this WOE I had bad constipation - so if you're a newbie, things to help avoid that are lots of water and lots of fat. I guess not so simple in your case Mouse.

Red - there are tabs in the link up there ^^^ in the spreadsheet that lead to ubercamp. :)

Loopy - yes, I was the same, I was better, much more so but this weekend and the increase in meds has fucked me up big time....

Senna stops the bowel from working and takes over which is why I've gone onto the herbal tablets and SORRY, TMI AGAIN when I did go, I went for longer than normal IYSWIM? I felt better, empty and I didn't have to force myself to go.

Sorry everyone.... Blush

So, I need to increase my water, and need to up my magnesium, and anything else than you lovely Campers can recommend for constipation! PLEASE!!

I'm off to bed, no doubt to wake to a shiny new thread tomorrow....

Night all xxx

mouseface Some people report diarrhoea as a side effect of high dose vitamin C. You could try a 1g effervescent vit C and see if that helps, I like Redocon Dual Action, it also has zinc in so good for the immune system

Evening all.

MrsHP - less of the "old Cider" thank you very much! Grin.

Word of warning about shop bought crust less quiche - the ones I looked at in M&S had wheat flour in.

Dementedma - see what tomorrow brings. You might be surprised. I would never weigh in the evening as you will always weigh more then. First thing in the morning after a pee.

Mouse - the magnesium def helps with constipation. So does large doses of vitamin c. Hope you get it sorted. It sounds very uncomfortable.

Pag - that is just mean! All that baking! Lovely but very unfair.

I would have loved some wine tonight but knew I would not stop at one and would kick myself tomorrow so I resisted. DH is still drinking but claims he will not drink mon/tues/wed/thurs form now on. I will believe it when I see it!

I am heading to Dublin on Thursday for the weekend. Will let my dad know I'm not eating carbs so food should be ok but I am going to see Fleetwood mac on Friday with my sister and there will be wine. I know it's not quite end of bootcamp but not too far off. I will get straight back on wagon after.

Currently lying in bed with a gurgly stomach as a result of taking magnesium earlier. Hope it works before weigh in tomorrow!

He just bakes with DD on lazy Sunday's sometimes and didn't think.
It was only when I refused cake that he did an '........ohhhhh. Sorry!'
Twerp.

Psyllium husk is very good.

Lactulose from GP Mouse? I have it prescribed due to the meds I'm on and take it when I need it as I go through phases of constipation (thankfully much less for me on a low carb diet than when I eat carbs).

Hello Not been too bad a day

B cabbage soup with chicken
L cabbage & celeriac soup with chicken n lots of pepper
D egg mayo on cucumber slices wih olives

2 cups of regular tea and lots of water (pint glass inthe bathroom. I try to down a pint once I have weed....TMI)

Lots of cabbage to try and push some of this food through my gut. I am relying on the power of cabbage farts and cabbage fibre. Had a sneaky weigh at work and have still only lost one kilo since last monday. Am hoping it is my extra muscle that I am gaining with the exercise I am now also doing having been a couch potato for many months. Is it really true that muscle weighs more than fat, or are they just being kind saying that?

whodunnit - doesn't sound like there's much fat going on in your menu! You really do need to make sure that you're eating more fat. That will help you out as well. It's not all about the fibre ...

Mouse don't you dare beat yourself up, lovely woman; you started bootcamp earlier so you've done your strict two weeks already. Obviously the eton mess is a step too far Grin but a glass of wine and a bit of dark choc here and there isn't a disaster once you're on bootcamp light. Regarding constipation, linseed (which is the same as psyllium btw) is a good, gentle bulk laxative. It absorbs water though so you need to drink extra when you take it. Lactulose is a stool softener so use that if you're having trouble. A word of caution about taking high vitamin C doses... if you take very high doses of a vitamin or mineral and your body gets used to excreting the excess, it could continue excreting lots when you stop taking the supplement, leading to a possible deficiency. I'd stick to a moderate dose of magnesium rather than overdosing on vit C (which is what you're doing if you're taking enough to cause diarrhoea).

Ma our weight fluctuates by around 2lbs during the day so it's best to weigh first thing in the morning after a pee (and preferably a poo!) and before eating or drinking anything. Otherwise you can't really compare with your previous weight.

Pag you're a saint for not bawling him out! Shock I was like this Hmm at DP earlier for having lovely golden crusted roast potatoes with his roast. Grin
