Morning all!

Already seen great results from @KellyonaHeli and @Almahart - really well done!

Spreadsheet for its final outing:

Just because it's the end of this Bootcamp doesn't mean we have to stop chatting - and many of you have talked about doing Ubercamp as well, and I look forward to hearing how that goes.

Looks like a thread I need. I’m trying to lose a few pounds for a holiday in a few weeks. My main problem is my tummy overhang. It’s just where my weight sticks I suppose and definitely notice it harder to shift in my 40s. I’m doing a protein and weight training programme much did help last time. I’m a carb lover and just reached for wraps for lunch / toast as an evening snack. I’ve managed to avoid crisps for a while. Some great ideas here which I’ll enjoy reading through

Rayna37 · 01/04/2026 13:04

Just had a great 2 egg omelette with a chopped avocado and strong cheese and lots of pepper in it.

Made a cottage pie last night with cauli mash, big portion so more meals in the freezer. Did a potato topped one for DS and used 1kg of meat.

Not doing brilliantly with my water so will try to get back on with that!

Almahart · 01/04/2026 14:06

Definitely do that @Rayna37, I've shifted another half pound since upping my water, I think it makes a massive difference

What are everyone's plans for Easter eating? Complicated family arrangements mean we're doing easter lunch on Saturday. I've bought rolled lamb shoulder from our local butchery and farm, also some beautiful diry carrots (to sit with the onion under the lamb to flavour the gravy - carrots will be free of the dirt by then! ) and celeriac for some creamy mash. There are leeks and red peppers to roast. I may have a glass of wine but there will be no chocolate (well it won't actually be Easter), and I'll be so full of meat and veg that I won't be tempted to look at a hot cross bun.

I found a recipe that cooks the lamb overnght for 12 hours. Mmmm...

Then I'm sure there will be plenty of left overs, probably make a celeriac-topped shepherd's pie.

SemmaLina · 03/04/2026 08:41

Umm , Easter , it’s going to be a challenge !
Going out for lunch today as it would have been. FIL birthday , but we lost him last year
Dniece is opening a cake shop tomorrow , we’re going ( temptation )
Going to friends house for dinner Saturday night
So , it’s all gone a bit pear shaped
But , Hey Ho , roll on Sunday and sensible me resurfacing

Almahart · 04/04/2026 20:21

I had a whoosh of 3ib yesterday so am very close to my target weight, but I was starving when I got home that day and realised that I had nothing prepared and was sick of all my LC options. I just had some LC toast and tuna mayo, but that spurred me into action. I made leeks and broccoli in the lovely cheese sauce that I had somehow never made before; roasted a chicken and made stock for Thai style soups with low carb noodles and made an aubergine parmigiana and cheese muffins for the freezer

Almahart · 08/04/2026 06:49

Unfortunately I put all the weight back on, not through cheating but just by eating too much I think! The only cheat I did was too much dark chocolate, nothing major, but I guess that was enough to tip me out of keto. I'll be ending this BC on May 14 as I go away then and it gets tricky for me over the summer, so am back on strict BC from now til then. I would LOVE to hit my target by then, 6ibs to go

SemmaLina · 08/04/2026 11:23

Oh , I know @Almahart so tricky to lose weight , so easy to put on !
Im stuck , there’s too much going on at the moment , I’m too stressed about ( I don’t know what , just seem to be on edge ) I badly scraped the side of my car yesterday , and I’m putting off phoning about a repair
Anyway , will put the iPad down , and pick up the phone and then go outside as it’s lovely and weed the patio

Almahart · 08/04/2026 13:33

What are people enjoying eating at the moment? Preferably no/low meat content. I've rediscovered home made coleslaw which I am loving for lunch with a bit of cheese.

I have some mascarpone in the fridge that needs eating - any ideas?

venusandmars · 08/04/2026 15:49

@Almahart Aubergine parmagiana? Stuffed peppers (with cauli rice rather than rice)? I make a linguine dish (using spiralized courgette) served with lemon zest, lemon juice, toasted pine nuts, parmasan and lots of basil. Tuna nicoise served on salad leaves with boiled eggs, green beans in a herby dressing and olives. Jamie Oliver 5 ingredients makes something similar with salmon https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/salmon/sorta-salmon-nicoise/ www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/salmon/sorta-salmon-nicoise/]]]] Prawn laksa. Oven roast salmon (if you eat fish) with oven roast veg and a herb and avocado dressing.

Almahart · 08/04/2026 17:00

Lovely ideas thank you. Aubergine parmigiana is one of my standbys, I've never added mascarpone

Almahart · 08/04/2026 17:00

Perhaps that's not what you meant! Your linguine sounds particularly delicious

Almahart · 15/04/2026 06:35

I've been koko but I am wondering if my body doesn't want to give up any more weight at the moment. I've lost 20ibs which is amazing. I'm 2ibs off my target. The pain in my knee has almost gone, I have tons more energy and I can fit into most of my favourite clothes. I think I might use up the last if my low carb ingredients and call it a day for a while, while my body settles at this point. @BIWI do you think you'll run another bootcamp at some point?

BIWI · 15/04/2026 08:05

Not sure @Almahart - fewer and fewer people participate each time, and it's a big commitment for me, as I want to do it 'properly' IYSWIM.

I’ve stuck as well @Almahart though I’ve only lost 7lb and would like to lose a few more

However , I feel so much better , I think it’s the eggs for breakfast which is probably so much healthier than toast and jam and the loads of green veg , who knew kale was so delicious !
I’m going on holiday end of next week , so I will enjoy the croissants and the cocktails and resume on my return

@BIWI thanks for all the help and advice , your time is much appreciated 💐

Almahart · 15/04/2026 09:02

I understand @BIWI. It was absolutely brilliant for me that you did it this time, perfect timing and I am delighted with my loss.

I have realised that I really want to eat a banana and maybe a baked potato, and some muesli.

Modest pleasures but I think it's time for me to declare this BC officially done for me.

BIWI · 15/04/2026 09:15

I have realised that I really want to eat a banana and maybe a baked potato, and some muesli.

Not all at the same time though! Grin

Seriously though, just keep a careful eye on the scales as you start to up your carbs. Go easy to start with, till you recognise the point at which you're gaining again.

Almahart · 15/04/2026 09:16

Lol I could be tempted! Sage advice as always. My appetite has definitely changed and I don't want to slip back to my carb inhaling habits.

Almahart · 15/04/2026 09:19

Honestly so many thanks again. This is the only weight loss that has ever worked for me. I feel back too my old self and I can't thank you enough (I feel a bit emotional!)

CointreauVersial · 15/04/2026 10:33

Popping in to say hi....echoing my thanks to @BIWI for arranging the Bootcamp, as it came just at the right time. It's been a great re-set. And I've got so many excellent new recipes in my repertoire, thanks to others on the thread. I hope you do more (maybe next January??) but I realise it's a big commitment.

@Almahart me too. Low carbing is the only weight control method I have ever been able to stick with.

It has been a tricky few weeks - sadly DDad died on Easter Sunday, but he was at home, without any pain, so the best we could hope for, really.

I haven't been on the scales much, as I've been living out of a suitcase, but despite eating very unhealthily over Easter I have lost a few more pounds, and I'm so happy to feel those looser waistbands. I'm probably at my target weight now (wanted to get below 10.5 stone) but will stay on the wagon now I've remembered how much better I feel without a spare tyre.

SprinklesofRain · 15/04/2026 11:02

Sorry about your Dad @CointreauVersial Flowers
Thanks from me too @BIWI I have struggled a bit to maintain the WOE recently but it's great to know I can do this, previous attempts I got into a "this is impossible" spiral.

Castlerigg · 15/04/2026 11:18

Sorry to hear about your Dad, @CointreauVersial.

Also giving my thanks to @BIWI, it has been so useful for me.

I have relaxed a bit since finishing Bootcamp, but have been maintaining a steady 146lb. I lost 7lb doing BC, but was then ready for a break, but I think I could happily crack down again and see off the next half a stone.

SemmaLina · 15/04/2026 14:47

Sorry to hear your sad news @CointreauVersial

Almahart · 15/04/2026 18:28

So sorry @CointreauVersialFlowers

Almahart · 16/04/2026 09:14

Strangely, the day I decided BC was over for me I have had a huge whoosh and dropped 4ibs! So am past my original target weight (154) and 1ib off my aspirational target (150)!
