BIWI · 08/12/2024 15:29

So we come to our final week.

Here's the spreadsheet

Still time to drop a couple more pounds - which would also see two Bootcampers reaching the whole stone! @Comeonyoublues and @costevo we're all rooting for you Grin

Starting this chat thread early as I'm away tonight and don't know when I'll be online tomorrow, but I'll check in when I'm able.

Good luck everyone Flowers

Final week meal prep is in full swing here. Boiled eggs done, chicken thighs in the oven, and the celeriac soup of deliciousness is on the hob!

Morning all!

Delighted to have hung on to the loss I've seen pinging up and down the last two week, so down another 2lbs this week 🥳

That's 10.5lbs overall so far this bootcamp, which I hope to cling on to as long as possible in the creep up to Christmas!

Thank you to @BIWI and everyone else involved. This is my first proper bootcamp, though I've lurked in the background a couple of times over the years. Really motivating to know you are persevering alongside others in the same boat.

NoCarbsForMe · 09/12/2024 08:22

Morning
Delighted I have dropped a lb as had swayed a bit last week.
Back on it to try to get as much off as I can before Xmas!
Hope you all have a good week 😊

LCagain · 09/12/2024 09:20

Well done everyone! Small loss here this week but I'll take that!

Fairnair · 09/12/2024 10:03

Good morning everyone, have stayed the same yet again, but am really struggling with water retention. I am keeping going though, as my stomach definitely prefers not eating bread, crisps etc. although was not eating a lot of this before Bootcamp anyway. The main thing which I use to eat for Breakfast but don’t now is porridge oats with fruit & low fat yoghurt, so by not eating that every day has reduced my carbs by a fair bit.

Luckily (or unluckily from a social point of view) I don’t have many challenges regarding eating out to navigate over the next few things. Husband and I have a gift voucher for a nice pub to use up, and a meet-up with a couple of friends at a Chinese restaurant on the Sunday before Christmas.

Christmas dinner will be at Mums and Dad’s house, but as my Dad is type 2 diabetic and has a golf trip in the Spring he is losing weight for, he is eating lower carb too, so apart from some roast potatoes and a dessert of some type it will not be too carb heavy, probably have a prawn cocktail for a starter.

I never buy tubs of the well known chocs at Christmas, because mainly they taste awful now with the palm oil, and I feel rubbish if I eat them. Knocked off a few sweet treats I had on the on-line order as well, but added a couple of bars of dark chocolate 70%. Have asked my husband nicely not to buy me jelly beans (which I love) or any other sweet treats to pad out my gifts, he does not mind. I have cut back on the sweet treats for him, but where my husband and I differ is that he can eat sweet treats over a longer time frame, but if I know I have them I can’t save them, and eat them too quickly. I am not buying tubs of cheese let’s/treelets or mini cheddars as they are far to moreish, if I need anything to nibble on it will be olives, cubes of cheese etc.

Good luck everyone.
ps sorry for the “essay” again !!!!

Fairnair · 09/12/2024 10:04

Oops 2nd paragraph should read “over the next few weeks” not things.

Floralnomad · 09/12/2024 11:44

Well I’ve stayed the same this week and I’m fairly happy with that as we’ve eaten out a few times and I also have some health issues playing up . Since I started with low carb in September I’m down about 23 lbs which I’m happy with considering how difficult it is to shift weight with all my medical problems .

Wow! That's amazing 👏👏👏

Couldn't weigh myself this morning as down in Cheadle with my best friend from Uni (ie a long time ago Blush).

As predicted, we drank a lot of wine but she very much tried to accommodate my WoE, so I'll just need to see what damage was done tomorrow Wink

UnOeufIsEnough · 10/12/2024 13:01

I am struggling so much to stay strong this bootcamp! I'm about 10lb down so pleased but I feel like there's temptation round every corner 🤣

I have noticed that when I have caved, the reality of whatever it was that tempted me isn't nearly as good as the thought of it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I went out for a festive menu the other day and resisted the roast potatoes so that was a win!

BIWI · 10/12/2024 13:16

It's not the easiest time of the year @UnOeufIsEnough! I think, with each temptation that comes your way, you need to ask yourself if it's really going to be worth it. Because, as you rightly say, so often it can be a disappointing experience.

OP posts:
UnOeufIsEnough · 10/12/2024 13:20

I think that's exactly the right approach...each temptation needs to weighed up...a crappy roast potato is easy to resist whereas a bucket of Bailey's is harder 🤣

Rayna37 · 10/12/2024 15:00

I wrote a longish post yesterday which I then lost due to lack of signal! Slightly up on last week but after eating out twice on both Friday and Saturday not bad! Doing fairly well at avoiding the Christmas treats so far- I'm trying to keep it to a festive week not a month! I think if I can avoid puddings and cakes in the main the odd roast potato won't hurt.

I did stay consistently low last week, lowest weights for over a year. Out and about driving so hard to drink enough yesterday and tomorrow.

ReconstructionSite · 10/12/2024 19:41

My son made a small Christmas cake at Beavers and was so proud and excited to come home tonight and give me half of it that... er... the week has not started well 😂

I have totally found this with pretty much all carbs. But, I did have some marmite on toast at the weekend and it was bloody amazing!

Potatoes, pasta, rice? Meh am not really bothered.

I DO miss fruit and pulses though.

islandtiger · 11/12/2024 00:18

It is very encouraging to hear everyone's resolve and progress. I have been travelling again today after a slightly crazy few days so will weigh in tomorrow. It looks like I will STS but we'll see. I had much more regular tipples of wine last week than was good for me and the party on Saturday was unavoidably carby. Still I managed to avoid the bread in a turkey sandwich on the motorway yesterday. And realised how awful crisps make me feel now, so that should be easier to resist over Christmas. I didn't even enjoy them at the time. I got back on track with the water today and a proper breakfast fry up kept me full until supper time. DH has been given home baked birthday gifts and it's going to be very hard to resist, especially the shortbread and the cheese straws, but neither of us want to lose this hard won progress.

Goodiewhemper · 11/12/2024 05:16

Morning everyone. I am a little late weighing in and I am a little up which is no surprise really. I hear you all who say that the temptation is everywhere at the moment. I went to see The Muppet Christmas Carol on Saturday with the kids. On the way home my daughter wanted chips so we went to this new chip ship which I had previously avoided despite the rave reviews. I ended up scoffing a portion of chips with rosemary salt and they were divine. I don't know when I last had proper fried chips. I also realised I don't want to live in a world where I can't eat the chips or the orange. The trick is (I think) to limit these things to rare and occasional rather than every day. I definitely feel better eating LCHF and I can never see myself going back to eating the way I used to.

NoCarbsForMe · 11/12/2024 08:12

This is it @Goodiewhemper I am realising it really is everything in moderation. Having chips once in a while won't hurt and you will appreciate them much more.

Seeing the scales slowly going down is certainly motivating most of the time for me at the moment.

BIWI · 11/12/2024 11:03

It is absolutely the way @Goodiewhemper - there's no way in the world I'd ever forgo any of those things. It's just about balance and moderation. (Like everything I suppose!)

UnOeufIsEnough · 11/12/2024 11:10

Those chips sound totally worth it @Goodiewhemper!!

Gunnersforthecup · 11/12/2024 14:04

Hi, just been weighed at my gym induction. 95kg. So that is 4 kg lost since I was last weighed, and 9kg in total. Almost 10% of my total weight. I am very happy with that, many thanks for all the support.

I am also a bit reluctant to stop at this point, I don't like mince pies and Christmas pudding enough to want the weight to go back on 😀

BIWI · 11/12/2024 20:03

There's absolutely no need to stop @Gunnersforthecup just because we've come to the end of this Bootcamp.

When we get to the final weigh-in, next Monday, I always keep the chat thread going, so there will be plenty of support. Many people continue anyway.

NoCarbsForMe · 11/12/2024 21:36

I'm definitely going to continue I feel so much better!

Be great to know what everyone ate today. Am really curious 🧐

islandtiger · 12/12/2024 08:03

I am away from home visiting my DM so I went to my favourite cafe for a vegetarian breakfast today which I had at 1pm. Two fried eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes , sliced avocado, halloumi and ( I admit) two potato croquettes. Tea with milk. I don't have the toast or beans. It's still enough food to take a doggy bag. I ate the leftovers at 6pm with a ready meal from Cook of chicken cooked in ginger, tomatoes and onions. It was an unusual day , that's less than I eat normally but as had a sudden onset of a really painful sore throat on my way to DM. It was really painful to swallow. So I resorted to paracetamol after eating and drank my full ration of water slightly warm, and had loads of fresh lemon and ginger. No honey as I couldn't find any at DM's. We are going away to celebrate DH's birthday this weekend so I'm going to stay quite strict for another couple of days, and the liquid will definitely help see this bug off. I'm so grateful to hear that the thread will keep going, thank you @BIWI and everyone. I definitely want to keep going with the moderation and hearing how everyone is facing festive season challenges will definitely help.
