Morning!

Spreadsheet, as usual

For those of you that are left - as it seems a fair few have disappeared! - still time to drop at least a couple of pounds before we finish.

It's a tough time of the year, I know, to be thinking about dieting and weight loss, with all the temptations around. But it's still over 3 weeks before Christmas, so try to be as mindful as you can about what you're eating and drinking.

There will be another Bootcamp, starting on 1 January. It will be short and sharp - i.e. it will run only till 31 January, but it will be a dry one. (If anyone wants to set up and run a more conventional Bootcamp, you're more than welcome!). There will be a sign-up thread coming shortly.

Good luck for the coming week Flowers

Thank you for the spreadsheet @BIWI and good luck everyone. I've seen 150lb a few times this week and then it 'whooshed' in the opposite direction. Slightly on tenterhooks for weighing in later. I'll have a good think about January dry boot camp. I tried last year and failed miserably. And we are going to France in the New Year. Dry might be sadly too unrealistic but I'm definitely going to keep my boot camp learnings from this time in mind, it's been brilliant. I feel so much better - and lighter- for significantly more dry days. And all to play for these next two weeks as others have said. Grin

Good morning everyone, thanks for the thread & spreadsheet @BIWI. I have stayed the same again, but struggling with water retention at the moment, so trying my best to drink more water.

I am not disappointed to stay the same to be honest as I know where I can tweak, less fruit with my yoghurt, don’t go mad on dairy, eat more low carb veg. etc. etc.

I will generally be sticking to low carb over Christmas apart from having roast potatoes & dessert on Christmas Day. Will try really hard not to eat crisps, pastry items etc. have to tell myself they make me feel rubbish when I eat them. Have an on-line food delivery booked in for Christmas week, & I have taken off the box of chocolate biscuits, and a few extras we don’t need. Husband loves pate, cheese, deli meats, olives, and as long as there are a couple of bags of peanuts (I can resist these as long as I don’t buy honey roasted or roasted) he will be happy.

Count me in for January Bootcamp, very rarely drink alcohol so being a dry one is fine. I am attending a Hen party in August & a wedding in September next year, so really don’t want to be panicking about what to wear.

Sorry that was an essay.

Good luck for the week.

Thanks for the new spreadsheet @BIWI.

STS this week, but 8.5lbs overall so far. Not surprised at STS - seen 1-1.5lb lower on and off all week, but fluctuating like mad so just one of those weeks. I have also had too much wine and not enough water, so can't really complain or pretend this is an unfathomable mystery! Back on the straight and narrow this week, as I'd really like that 1-1.5lb to be decisively off by this time next week.

I will be back committed to low carb in January, but also not sure I can commit fully to Dry Jan (we're having our work Xmas party then!) so will think about whether to join Bootcamp or just follow along from the sidelines. I do like the weekly commitment to the spreadsheet though!

prettybird · 02/12/2024 09:26

I'm still 12st 6.5lb (after seeing that weight yesterday) so a whoosh of 3.75lb this week Smile That's just over a stone this Boot Camp Grin

Dh has been really supportive and has been opting not to open a bottle of wine mid week to tempt me. Plus he was away Friday night and only got back late on Saturday so I was able to be really strict both days and have lots of water and rooibos. Halo

My stretch target is to get under 12st by Christmas Eve (when we have our main Christmas Dinner) which would be another 6.75lb. But to reassure BIWI Wink, I'll not be disappointed if I don't quite get there.

Rayna37 · 02/12/2024 10:00

Happy to weigh in back down to within half a pound of my lowest this bootcamp, after an up and down few weeks. Happy with my progress and that I've comfortably shifted the 5lbs that were bothering me most, without being 100% strict. I've gone from almost never dropping under 9st in a year to easily returning to 8 3/4's after each weekend. Would love to get to 8 1/5 stone by Christmas.

Abroad for a week at New Year and I have a January birthday but I'm definitely going to keep my renewed focus and also continue to drink far less than I used to, that's been a positive change for me since I did dry September.

Rayna37 · 02/12/2024 10:03

I was late to the swim chat @BIWI @islandtiger but I'm pretty slow by the standards of a competent swimmer: I do 800m breaststroke in half an hour generally, three times a week (diary allowing). I gave a Garmin watch that counts my laps for me!

Off to look up the flaxseed muffin recipe from last week..,

WinterSunshineBright · 02/12/2024 10:07

Thanks @BIWI
I'm the same as last week today but have my period and just back from a weekend away, so was expecting worse to be honest!

I really notice when I have too many carbs now the aches and pains and lack of energy. So planning to stick to this. Will def join you in January 😊

WinterSunshineBright · 02/12/2024 10:08

Whoops my name has changed 🙈.
I'll try to change the spreadsheet if I can ?

WinterSunshineBright · 02/12/2024 10:11

Oh bugger!!! I'm really sorry but my fat fingers just deleted the name below me 🙈🙈🙈

I'll stop messing.

So so sorry to the person below me 😬

Floralnomad · 02/12/2024 10:16

Thanks @BIWI , I will sign on for the January boot camp . Lost 1lb this week so creeping towards my first goal of 12 stone . I’m staying with it and then having time off over Christmas but am still going to try and keep things within reason . One result of this for me is that my appetite seems to have decreased massively . My BMI has gone from 29 in September to 25 now so not a bad achievement and my husband has also lost a stone and a half despite being nowhere near as strict as myself .

Thanks @FinallyHere ❤️

Bex5490 · 02/12/2024 11:52

STS this week which I’m not surprised at because I’ve been ‘tasting’ my babies porridge a bit too enthusiastically. Been crap with the water too but I’m ready for a good week.

I’m really glad of the Jan bootcamp to prevent the downward spiral after Christmas so thanks @BIWI !!

Its my staff party on Friday and I’d only be lying to myself if I said I wasn’t going to drink more than I should…but I’ll stick to low carbs with the food and definitely avoid a kebab or pizza on the way home!

Good luck for this week everyone! ❤️

LCagain · 02/12/2024 12:20

Well done everyone! I'm pleased with a loss this week after last week, and more so that I'm feeling a lot more stronger and resilient physically and mentally.

Really enjoyed being part of BC this time and I'm definitely up for Jan (although may start a few days late again!)

islandtiger · 02/12/2024 18:52

@Fairnair your 'essay' was essentially my checklist. If I can avoid those very things over Christmas I'll be doing ok. And @prettybird I'm tempted to ask your secret! Congratulations on such a steady loss, really gives me hope! I'm still not weighing in yet, just too cross at STS. Will see if any shift in the morning. The plus side today is that it motivated me to move more on a cold day with some 'extreme' gardening in an attempt to boost my metabolism. Every cloud . . .

Pash01 · 02/12/2024 23:02

No loss again this week. I’m not surprised. We had Thanksgiving dinner and the week before I went up a pound probably due to my cycle. I haven’t over done anything but I have had a few carbie foods and haven’t been able to exercise very much.

I will be joining in January! Looking forward to it! Thank you @BIWI

Pash01 · 02/12/2024 23:04

Has anyone experienced leg cramps at night? I’ve been getting them almost nightly.

I tried magnesium which usually works but it hasn’t this time.

somanylights · 03/12/2024 05:05

Morning all! There have been some great losses this bootcamp, and I always see a STS as a positive too; gives your body time to stabilise and adjust.
@Pash01 , yes, I've been getting cramp at night these last 2 weeks! Mine seem to coincide with having dropped my carbs to around 20g per day. I also take magnesium (for sleep), and potassium. I don't hold back on salt either. If anyone knows what else we could be doing, please do share!

Goodiewhemper · 03/12/2024 06:05

Good morning all. I had a bit of a loss this week and weighed in at 76.1kg. My target is 75kg so I am feeling very optimistic. My clothes definitely fit better and I feel pretty good.

Thank you @BIWI - I will definitely be signing up for the dry January BC.

CleanQueen123 · 03/12/2024 07:10

Nearly 7lbs in total so far. Definitely signing up for the January bootcamp. It will help keep me on the straight and narrow over Christmas

LCagain · 03/12/2024 11:20

Not got the leg cramps this time round but had them previously - I found a magnesium gel straight onto the legs rather than a supplement helped

somanylights · 03/12/2024 11:28

Thank you @LCagain , that's good to know!

MissBeckIsAtWork · 03/12/2024 14:33

I haven't totally dissappeared, but I haven't weighed for weeks as my Wii Fit scales are buried under a spare room of crap that was all moved out the way ready for builders coming in. They have finished now, so I'll try to dig them out later, although not only have I gone off the rails due to many disruptions, the only thing I've had that's boot camp friendly in weeks is water! 😂
I'll definitely do the January one full on.

LCagain · 03/12/2024 18:31

I made these LC gnocchi - pretty good and nice to have something different (think it could have done with a spicier sauce but I didn't make the yoghurt one)
