Feb 24 Boot Camp: Week 6, still time to achieve results

Here we are at Week 6 already, the one where - ideally - you get beyond the Weeks 3, 4 and 5 doldrums and achieve your objectives before Easter. And if, for whatever reason, you're not, then KOKO,, drink all the water and maybe post what you've been eating so we can see if there is anything you can tweak. We're all here both to support and be supported.

@FinallyHere will be along shortly to post the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (I’m on my phone at the airport and links from the App seem to cause difficulties for anyone not using the app Confused). It truly is fabulous to see the results coming in Smile

There are a few newbies who have either only started recently or only recently de-lurked. Welcome Flowers. We're a friendly bunch and as long as you follow the Rules you'll see the Results And if you're not seeing the results that you'd like, then post what you've been eating on here and ask for some advice.

Remember, as with any healthy diet, weight loss will stabilise (after the initial whoosh) at an average of 1-2lb a week.

There are only three weeks left of this Boot Camp, so let’s make a concerted effort to finish with a flourish Smile

Challenge for this week is to do something nice for yourself Flowers Because you are worth it Smile. So, whether it’s taking time to put a facemask on, doing your nails, booking a hair appointment or spending some time reading a book or magazine, take time for you FlowersSmile I’ve got a face mask with me to put on in the plane Grin (and some more in my suitcase for while we’re there and on the way back)

Even though I’m away, I’ll still be checking in regularly and my Big Stick has been packed Grin

Happy weekend, everyone.

I am posting here for accountability! After an online food delivery today, I now have a number of Easter treats in the house ready for kids and other family at Easter. I don't normally have a problem on low carb bootcamp with resisting cake, chocolate, etc but I am very partial to hot cross buns and Cadbury mini eggs!

The hot cross buns are in the freezer and all the other mini eggs/Easter eggs are hidden away (from children and me!). I am planning on mindfully enjoying 1 or 2 hot cross buns over Easter weekend but not until then. It might sound silly, but I'm hoping that posting here will help me to not be tempted before then. I don't want to undo all my hard work!

TheOnlyMrsW · 16/03/2024 14:29

1.5lb up, totally expected tbh as really lost my mojo this week - fed up of the endless grey and wet, very tired and just feeling meh about everything. Gig 2 of the week tonight with DH, made brunch of peppers, spinach, cherry toms, mushrooms and chorizo fried in butter and topped with a poached egg and on our way now. There appear to be very few places to eat where we're going so think I'm either going to go for chicken wings and side salad or pork chops without the potatoes from here https://thefishpondmatlockbath.co.uk/food-drink/
Meeting friends so will be lovely when we get there but likely to be lots of alcohol and a late night too which isn't thrilling me much!!!
Did do something for me which was to finally order the docs I've been eyeing up since November, they are extremely comfy and warm 😍.

TheOnlyMrsW · 16/03/2024 14:30

Photo. I love them!!!

AllTheBlackCoffee · 16/03/2024 15:09

@Magnolia82 ive got some of the Not Cross Buns from SLC. They are clearly not the same as the real thing but toasted and slathered in butter they fill a hole. Might be worth a look if you want to keep on the straight and narrow.

Try again!!!

They sound good, @AllTheBlackCoffee ! Are they stocked in a shop anywhere, or is it mail order only?

AllTheBlackCoffee · 16/03/2024 16:42

Just online @Whicker https://srslylowcarb.com/ Their stuff's not cheap but it's really good and freezes well. Has been an absolute lifesaver for me this time around.

SRSLYLowCarb

Award Winning. Consumer brand of choice. Real food that's Keto and Low Carb friendly. The home of the Seriously Low Carb Loaf, the Seriously Low Carb Pizza and now lots of other products too.

Magnolia82 · 16/03/2024 17:03

Thank you @AllTheBlackCoffee. Just had a look. Wondering if I can justify the cost (both the cost of the actual products and the delivery). Something to think about. Or maybe I should just look forward to mindfully having 1 or 2 regular hot cross buns over Easter?

Whicker · 16/03/2024 18:25

The whole concept of “mindfully” indulging can be a bit close to just making excuses, so do be careful @Magnolia82 . A few years ago @biwi had to get quite firm with people, I remember, when there was a bit of a spate of it. Doing it mindfully doesn’t mean that you’re not cocking up low carbing.

That said, I’m planning to finish early, in order to be able to have an Easter egg on Easter Sunday.

Magnolia82 · 16/03/2024 18:35

Thank you @Whicker Yes, I completely agree and it's good to recognise this.

However, I have been following strict bootcamp since 1st Jan (I don't think I've even had anything that's only allowed in bootcamp light), I don't drink alcohol and low carb for me is now a a long term WOE. So I guess I kind of see planning to have something over Easter weekend is a bit like when people planned to have 1 roast potato or 1 mince pie over Christmas? But I'm happy to be challenged on this! It's definitely helpful to really think through these things.

Whicker · 16/03/2024 19:12

I agree with you, and do the same myself.

I think maybe the word “mindfully” is a bit of a trigger for me, probably because of a history of persuading myself that it made it ok (and carrying on being overweight as a result).

Whicker · 17/03/2024 16:07

Have felt absolutely ravenous today. Glugging water desperately and trying to distract myself. Where has this raging hunger suddenly come from?

prettybird · 17/03/2024 16:42

Are you having enough fat @Whicker ?

Jot down what you've been eating the last few days and we'll have a look at what might be causing the hunger. If you're genuinely hungry, you should have something to eat - HFLC of course Grin

@TheOnlyMrsW I'm with you on the wet and grey doldrums. Envious of those @BIWI @prettybird enjoying bright skies and warm sunshine.

It's been a truly crap week here.

I'm part of a local community group fighting awful (possibly corrupt) decisions being made by our council, and it is stressing me to hell. So much that I'm thinking of backing out and not submitting a legal objection because I know they will squirm their way out of it Somehow I need to lessen my emotional involvement in it. Better for the environment but seriously detrimental to my mental health and wellbeing Sad

However... tonight we are having the fabulous low carb mousakka. That will be like a balm to my soul. And delicious. Served with broccoli and green beans.

Whicker · 17/03/2024 17:30

I knew someone would ask me that, @prettybird ! I think the answer is probably not. Yesterday was brunch out with friends (coffee, bacon, sausage, grilled tomato), then steak and green salad (dressed with oil but not very generously). The day before was coffee+cream x 3 and a square of dark choc for breakfast, satsuma (I know) and some almonds for lunch, red Thai curry for dinner.

Am I too much on the light side of BC Light? Maybe I need to be a bit stricter again.

Appalonia · 17/03/2024 19:01

Salads can be a bit boring at times but I PROMISE you that this Turkish slaw recipe is really delicious!

Appalonia · 17/03/2024 19:04

Sorry about all the links, don't know what happened there!

had this salad with chicken drumsticks tonight, would go well with steak, or anything really...😁

prettybird · 17/03/2024 19:41

@Whicker - doesn't sound like you have nearly enough veg nor enough fat Shock. And counter-intuitively, it doesn't like you are eating enough Confused and the satsuma didn't help Wink. Hence why you are feeling hungry and it might slow your weight loss as your body will hold onto its fat reserves as it isn't confident you are eating enough fat for energy Hmm

And no, even dark chocolate doesn't count as food Grin

Now you say it, I can see I’ve gone astray. Writing it out was a bit embarrassing actually! 😃Thanks @prettybird , I will think more carefully about what I’m eating this coming week. Any inspiration on the veg front would be welcomed. Off to look at @Appalonia ‘s slaw recipe now!

BIWI · 17/03/2024 22:07
