Feb 24 Boot Camp: Week 6, still time to achieve results

prettybird · 11/03/2024 07:47

Here we are at Week 6 already, the one where - ideally - you get beyond the Weeks 3, 4 and 5 doldrums and achieve your objectives before Easter. And if, for whatever reason, you're not, then KOKO,, drink all the water and maybe post what you've been eating so we can see if there is anything you can tweak. We're all here both to support and be supported.

@FinallyHere will be along shortly to post the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (I’m on my phone at the airport and links from the App seem to cause difficulties for anyone not using the app Confused). It truly is fabulous to see the results coming in Smile

There are a few newbies who have either only started recently or only recently de-lurked. Welcome Flowers. We're a friendly bunch and as long as you follow the Rules you'll see the Results And if you're not seeing the results that you'd like, then post what you've been eating on here and ask for some advice.

Remember, as with any healthy diet, weight loss will stabilise (after the initial whoosh) at an average of 1-2lb a week.

There are only three weeks left of this Boot Camp, so let’s make a concerted effort to finish with a flourish Smile

Challenge for this week is to do something nice for yourself Flowers Because you are worth it Smile. So, whether it’s taking time to put a facemask on, doing your nails, booking a hair appointment or spending some time reading a book or magazine, take time for you FlowersSmile I’ve got a face mask with me to put on in the plane Grin (and some more in my suitcase for while we’re there and on the way back)

Even though I’m away, I’ll still be checking in regularly and my Big Stick has been packed Grin

And in good news, I've made it to 11st 7.25lb.Grin

Didn't quite make it to under 11.5st but I'm still 1.25lb less than where I got to before going to South Africa so I'm pleased with that Smile

Good Morning and Happy week 6 Bootcampers here it is, the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hope all feeling well on this way of eating, and noticing good differences that this way of eating delivers, even if the pesky scales haven't actually moved (or moved much) . For me it's a lot to do with how good i feel in myself, not subject top those horrible highs and lows of the blood sugar roller coaster, plus quality of sleep, clear skin and, ahem fit of my clothes.

Safe travels anyone who is away and lots and lots of delicious low carb options where ever you are

Thank you @prettybird and @BiWI for continuing this for us. I so enjoy reading how others are getting on.

poorbuthappy · 11/03/2024 08:25

@prettybird have a fab time!
I am very happy as finally the scales are moving again and I'm 3lb down.
17lb off since 1st Jan.

Just had scrambled eggs for brekkie and have left over cauli cheese from yesterday for lunch.

Hope everyone has a fab week!

EndlesslyDistracted · 11/03/2024 08:45

Morning, 2.8lb down this week, although that was partly I think due to being ill and off my food last week, my appetite still hasn't really recovered and I seem to be in that horrible state of getting hungry but not being able to think of a single thing I feel like eating.

Thesoundofmusic23 · 11/03/2024 08:51

I’m on the move this week away from the scales but have been circling round within 151lb all week - sometimes .2 and sometimes .8 - up and down up and down so might put something in the spreadsheet based on that.

feel like it’s to been harder to be strict in recent weeks as social life, travelling around etc has kicked in but am planning post boot camp to have a very strict April as life calms down again so happy to sts or keep an equilibrium until then. Still loving the food and finding new snacks and options for life in other places. Please do share your on the move recipes/ restaurant go tos/ snacks for on the road etc. 🙏thank you and koko everyone.

prettybird · 11/03/2024 08:51

As long as you don't decide you want carbs @EndlesslyDistracted Wink

Hope you feel more in sorts soon Flowers

Thank you @FinallyHere for editing the spread sheet - so satisfying seeing the figures finally heading in the right direction.

I'm also getting a great deal of satisfaction ticking off 'stayed dry' on the TryDry app. It's really brought into focus the social events I enjoyed drinking at, the ones I didn't and sucked the joy out of the solitary glass of wine. I just don't want to mess up my chart.
Cutting down before firmly embracing boot camp really helped me not fall off the wagon.

AIBConsiderate · 11/03/2024 11:04

1.4lb on for me this week. From previous patterns I expected a gain this week - 7lb off in a fortnight and bouncing back from illness was going to see a slowdown. I've mostly been good this week - I enjoyed a slice of cake on Saturday because the baker is amazing and I only see her every few years, she's worth it. Jumped on the scales yesterday to see a 5lb gain! It's fascinating to see the short term effects of what something carby can do to you.

It hasn't derailed my behaviour for now but I have to have a clean week this week to make sure I don't form any bad habits.

BIWI · 11/03/2024 11:13

Thanks for starting the new thread @prettybird - and hope you have a great holiday Flowers

OldandTired66 · 11/03/2024 13:03

Stayed the same which is not too bad considering it was my birthday week. On the other hand, I've been bobbing about this weight for at least 6 months so really need to get a grip. So I will record my intake here and on myfitnesspal pal in an effort to see what changes I can make. Am also in a rut with meals so will try to introduce a couple of new dishes.
B: 2 streaky bacon rashers and a fried egg
L: Fridge bottom soup
D: Salmon fillet, buttery savoy cabbage and brocolli
Snack: cheese
Well done all you losers, you're an inspiration.

Whicker · 11/03/2024 15:14

No spreadsheet weighing here for this BC, but am checking in to say well done and keep going.

ChokeToDeathOnThreePoundsOfMeat · 11/03/2024 15:30

I've lost something over 3lb this week (I didn't weigh myself on Monday, I think that's 3lb since about Wednesday.) Accidentally did a two day fast due to migraine, felt surprisingly fine (or at least, I didn't feel any worse than usual!) Feeling a bit rubbish today as I've just started coming down with a cold. Throat raw, sneezing etc, I'm dying for a lozenge or some blackcurrant & lemon. Thoughts? What do people do when they're ill? I can't have normal sugar free stuff as, aside from the rules, most artificial sweeteners give me migraine...

Have had some red pepper, shallot, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach & a bit of chorizo, topped with 3 poached eggs. (Lazy one-pan dish.) I suspect that may be it for today, possibly even until I'm better, as I tend to lose my appetite when I'm ill, stressed, upset etc. Luckily I made some beef & leek broth yesterday so I'll have that if I CBA to make anything proper.

I didn't realise how bloated my belly usually is, I'd assumed it was just simply fat - there's some of that but my jeans suddenly do up. Which is nice. And I can get my wedding ring on again, quite easily in fact.

TiaraBoo · 11/03/2024 15:46

Happy Monday everyone!
Pleased to say I’m a stone down, but not sure from where, I’d like it to come off my stomach!

prettybird · 11/03/2024 15:54

@Thesoundofmusic23 - my "go to" snacks when I'm travelling are babybels and Pepperami (or the Lidl equivalent). They will keep indefinitely in my handbag/rucksack.

Just checking in. Great to hear of everyone 's weight loss, it's 11lbs down intotal for me, I know it would have been more of I had managed to kick the wine! Still massively cut back tho.

I only want to lose a stone really, just enough to get into all my nice trousers. Already thinking about how to eat ' normally ' once I've lost the weight. It's actually harder when you can eat anything!

Magnolia82 · 11/03/2024 18:22

Hope you have a wonderful holiday @prettybird . Thank you for setting up this thread.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 11/03/2024 18:26

Checking in late today as we've been to a funeral so I've not been online much. Managed to avoid the beige buffet but am seriously behind on my water so chugging away now we're home.

Yesterday we ate at a relative's house and I ended up having a few carbs - 1 small Yorkshire pud and a very small roastie - and today the scales were up 1.4lbs for the week. I'm ok with that, especially as it's the first slip up since new year, and have been back on it today.

blackteaplease · 11/03/2024 19:59

Evening all. Half a lb on for me this week but I know why.

Pleaseandthankyou · 11/03/2024 22:02

I had the most delicious dinner. Just fried boneless chicken thighs with a sliced onion. Threw in a packet of cauliflower rice straight from the freezer. Tossed in sesame oil, soy sauce, Korean red pepper flakes and a small spoonful of peanut butter.
Have you been to Madeira before @prettybird . If not make sure you go down the hill in a basket. It’s the daftest thing.

catwithflowers · 11/03/2024 22:22

Nice easy dinner here of keto cauliflower cheese with bacon. Used up the double cream which was out of date lurking in the fridge so a result!

AllTheBlackCoffee · 12/03/2024 08:53

Good moaning campers!

Exciting day for me today and fits in perfectly with this week's challenge - I am getting my hair cut and coloured for the first time in well over a year tonight. At a proper salon too. I'm terrified, am not gonna lie, but also looking forward to a bit of a change.

Back WHF today, feels like I've been out loads recently and have a day full of meetings. Breakfast was Greek yog and cream, lunch will be something quick, maybe an SLC wrap and tea is chicken thighs in tomatoes and veg which is in the slow cooker.

TheOnlyMrsW · 12/03/2024 12:26

Hope you have a lovely time @prettybird, thank you for this and I'm intrigued by basketing (actual word?!) down a hill!!!

Definitely not feeling it this week, fed up of the endless grey wet, drowning in life admin that I'm procrastinating on, stressed about pretty much everything to do with DD at the moment and really just want to retire to a desert island for a while!!!! Consequently eating has been a bit haphazard and largely consisted of a liquid diet 😡😭😵. I know I can do better and it's an investment in me so pulling up my (much smaller now!) big girl pants and back onto it..........

Changed up my usual brunch of spinach, peppers and tomatoes with a piece of n'duja and it certainly blew away some cobwebs!!!! Two poached eggs and some feta sprinkled on should set me up for the afternoon nicely. Dinner will be leftover lamb shoulder from Sunday with peppers, more cherry tomatoes, courgette and cauliflower and I've used the stock to make broth for DH so feeling frugal as well.

Have a good day all

Appalonia · 12/03/2024 12:43

Well I seem to have lost 2lbs overnight!

how does that happen...?

Almahart · 12/03/2024 12:58

STS - am going to go super strict for the remaining couple of weeks.

Had simple but delicious meal last night, baked salmon with soy sauce and stir fried tenderstem broccoli, green pepper and mangetout. Was so good
