Morning all. Up bright and early today, because insomnia Hmm

Anyway it gives me the chance to get this week's chat going nice and early.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for its final outing this Bootcamp.

Let's give it a final push this week, and see what we can do. Any cheats, or fallings off the wagon should be forgotten - let's have a good, strict last week.

I had celeriac corned beef hash with hard boiled egg in it for breakfast , dinner was salmon and green veg with lots of butter.

Lunch was a snacked plate of hard boiled egg, cucumber, cheese and salami.

This is the first boot camp I have done since being in peri menopause. I think I'm quite a way through.

Have people found that makes it harder to lose weight? Previously I'd lose pretty much a pound a day in the first week of boot camp. I'm a couple of pounds down, which is great, but am just wondering whether I need to adjust my expectations.

Rollerbird · 05/03/2023 10:15

@Almahart im on my first bootcamp and peri and I am not losing super quick

BIWI · 05/03/2023 10:26

@Almahart we also need fewer calories as we get older, so I think this is also part of it.

Thanks @Rollerbird and @BIWI. Makes sense. I'll be a bit stricter than I have been previously

I haven't been on here a while but thought I would share my terrible food choices yesterday!
I had a special afternoon tea/pedicure booked in and planned to be good, well the day started well but as you can see it did go downhill
Breakfast - Greek Yoghurt & berries
No lunch as wanted to save myself for my 3pm treat
Afternoon tea - 1/4 of a slice of coffee and walnut cake, 1/4 of a slice of lemon drizzle cake, a small cube of millionaire shortbread, a small cube of some other chocolate cake and a plain sponge finger thing - with 2 cappuccinos
Diner - went out to eat with my 2 sons and a friend to the Beefeater, I ate one chilli cashew nut while waiting and 2 glasses of wine then had cheese and bacon chicken melt with a salad in a lovely vinaigrette. I swapped the chips for the salad! but on the menu it gave calories and my meal came to just over 800, not sure if that was if I had it with the chips or not
Evening - went back to sons house and we continued drinking wine and chatting, i think I probably had a whole bottle in the end!
Woke up this morning feeling a bit queasy, but the scales say another pound lost, but i know this may be dehydration from the alcohol. I did walk a lot yesterday but its a one off and the pedicure cost £75 so I wasnt not going to enjoy the food
Today I am having yoghurt and berries and then lots of green veg and a curry, possibly some nuts at bedtime and lots of water :)

Afternoon everyone.

Still KOKO here, looking reasonably promising for weigh in tomorrow. I had a slightly carby day on Friday testing out how my blood sugar was affected by some lowish carb foods (and learnt they aren't as low carb as I'd expected) then had an extra strict day yesterday to see what difference that made (blood sugar was consistently ideal range all day with no spikes or troughs). Today I'm on BC again but I am feeling a bit fed up and was tempted to comfort eat something sweet. I've thought about how I'd feel afterwards though, and I honestly know it won't make me feel any better and I'll just be disappointed with myself so I think it'll pass.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

@venusandmars Yes - a fair bit of my/our cooking is like that, as neither of can can abide food/money waste so we generally use every scrap as a matter of course. It’s also very satisfying to know we’ve got every scrap of goodness out of everything we’re lucky enough to have access to!

Love the rest of your comment too.

Our fish/seafood delivery is coming soon; I’m very excited!

TangledUpInDreams · 05/03/2023 20:03

@Almahart I’ve found it the same this time (I’m almost 47). Before, up until maybe 2 or 3 years ago, I could reliably and easily shave off a stone or a bit more within a couple of months if I was fairly careful but not even consistently BC Lite strict. This time it has been very slow. I will obviously need to take my intake down a bit or do some work to find out optimal ratio, if I want to actually lose weight in any meaningful sense.

TangledUpInDreams · 05/03/2023 20:05

@Glorianna that actually happens often on low carb WOE. Something to do with water storage in fat cells leading up to weight loss I think. Or something like that. That’s why going by measurements or gauging by favourite item of clothing is often more reliable than weighing.

TangledUpInDreams · 05/03/2023 20:07

@Jenasaurus sounds like mindful navigation of an off-plan day. Hopefully the loss will stick. Otherwise, well we’ll KOKO so it’ll come off in the end!

I’ve had so many mindful navigations this BC that I’m quite happy to have lost anything at all, tbh!

TangledUpInDreams · 05/03/2023 20:10

@Baystard Well done on swerving it!

The info gleaned from the sensor sounds very interesting and helpful! Might consider it in future, particularly once I’ve had my last set of blood results back. I don’t yet know how this last not-very-strict BC has impacted my long-term glucose levels.

TangledUpInDreams · 05/03/2023 20:15

@Rayna37 your comment made me feel very cosy and happy, for some reason. Probably just the sense of family and togetherness, and simple times enjoying each other’s company.

Great that your son loved the curry, and Granny too! Definitely great that you found some lovely clothing and had a bit of a spree. I love a spree! Need to stop spending on fripperies every month and do some actual saving. Once I’ve managed to get rid of this extra stone I’m going to have a wardrobe refresh, so I need some money in the fashion fund!

was tempted to comfort eat something sweet. I've thought about how I'd feel afterwards though, and I honestly know it won't make me feel any better and I'll just be disappointed with myself so I think it'll pass.

Totally awesome approach @Baystard

This is for me absolutely the way forward, which gives me hope that bootcamping will work for me as a long term solution to ever increasing weight.

Almahart · 06/03/2023 07:40

@TangledUpInDreams that's interesting. I last did boootcamp two years ago and got to my target weight fairly easily. I did have in mind that it was likely to get harder to lose weight in the near future!

Unfortunately I've eaten too much chocolate and too many hot cross buns in my long covid state.

I'll be experimenting with 18:6 I think.

Anyway, I'm doing okay so far, I started on Wednesday and have lost 3.5 pounds, so that's actually pretty good for 5 days.

Rollerbird · 06/03/2023 07:46

That's great @Almahart
I expected a good loss this week I was down by 3.5 lbs by Friday then had a lot of food Saturday and Sunday (all according to the rules but a lot) and went up by today another 1.8 so a loss but less of a loss
