Morning all. Up bright and early today, because insomnia Hmm

Anyway it gives me the chance to get this week's chat going nice and early.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for its final outing this Bootcamp.

Let's give it a final push this week, and see what we can do. Any cheats, or fallings off the wagon should be forgotten - let's have a good, strict last week.

I’m determined to do better at reading back this week so going to do so now as I know I often jump in an post (before I forget what I’m trying to say).

Thanks for the thread as usual @BIWI 💐 Thanks for spreadsheet admin @FinallyHere 💐 Thanks to all for great chat and a positive, friendly space 💐

Skiphopbump · 27/02/2023 10:09

@BIWI I do have a mild cold so could be that. Also wondered if perhaps it was because I was exercising more and therefore not eating enough.

I lost what I gained last week and then some - 6.4lbs! That makes 51lbs since I started bootcamp in October, my goal is to lose 100lbs so I’ve just tipped over the half way point. Thanks to everyone on these threads 💐

BIWI · 27/02/2023 10:38

Wow! 51lbs is amazing!

mimosa1 · 27/02/2023 10:38

You ARE successful, @Rayna37 :-)

Weighing in at 79.6kg so a small gain /STS over the past 2 weeks. I know why, and I'm pleased I'm not gaining. It's given me a small sliver of seeing what eating at maintenance could be and I'm OK with that. But I'm now back on it (as well as my DH!) so I will be hitting it hard this week as well as KOKO for the KO 2 weeks.

LadyBiker · 27/02/2023 10:59

Morning all, 1.8lbs down, thank goodness after last week's gain. Even though I haven't lost much this BC, I am definitely slimmer as able to fit into clothes that I couldn't before, will have a strict week and KOKO. Hope you all have a good week!

Lucienandjean · 27/02/2023 11:28

Congratulations, @Baystard!

prettybird · 27/02/2023 14:14

Fantastic progress @Baystard Flowers

I went for a run today after doing my Ripped DVD. I felt sooooo much better than I'd felt on Thursday and despite running it as slowly and relaxedly as I could, was faster than the pace from last Tuesday (8.02/km compared to 8.15/km - and nearly a minute faster than Thursday (8.52/km).

Water, water, water!!!!

QforCucumber · 27/02/2023 14:28

Hi all - checking in but no time to weight this morning as slept in with ds2 and was like a mad house trying to get everyone dressed and out within about 20 mins of waking up!

made a chicken thigh curry last night and brought that to work for dinner today, sauce hadn’t really thickened though so don’t think I’ll try that again

Rayna37 · 27/02/2023 15:49

Ta-dah!

@baystard @SpottyBumPony @skiphopbump those are amazing losses! Really, really well done, you are completely inspiring and should feel very proud.

Thanks for the new thread @BIWI and spreadsheet @finallyhere. I'm away this week and can't access it from my phone so could someone please add my entry at 163.4? Thank you Flowers

I loved the exercise challenge last week and managed between 14k-16k steps a day (the hairy PT was overjoyed) as well as Hiit class with DC in tow as it's school holidays. The water challenge is a great idea @Rayna37, I'm never drinking enough water.

Skiing this week and it's just dumped with snow so have been in powder heaven all day. Trying my best to stay on plan with boiled eggs for breakfast, soup and salad with cheese for lunch and adapted dinners. Made a celeriac, leek and gruyere gratin from BBC good food before we left and having it in place of the potatoes everyone else is having. Also made lasagne with an aubergine one for me. And tried konjac noodles to have with bolognaise and they worked surprisingly well. Looking forward to raclette later this week. Sausages tonight and am disappointed to see the second ingredient after pork is glucose syrup.

Have a great week everyone and well done on the losses.

Stokey · 27/02/2023 16:23

Checking in. I definitely feel like I've plateaued over the last weeks after a decent loss at the start but am still going to finish 7 pounds down over all. I was aiming for 7kg which was perhaps a bit optimistic given my age and starting weight. I feel like I lost more quickly last time I did this but am 2 years older now. It's been a tough week with a lot of temptation that I resisted - have started a new job and they bring in loads of pastries🙄- so am a bit disappointed not to be down.
Well done to those who have had big losses.

I would still like to lose another 3-4kg to get me to my optimum weight (well optimum post kids weight) so will KOKO. We have a holiday in April that will be pretty high carb so would like to be lower by then. May take April off and restart in May for the summer!

Stokey · 27/02/2023 16:30

Oh and the water challenge is a great idea. I'm finding it much harder to drink water now it's got cold again.

BIWI · 27/02/2023 16:51

Try drinking hot water - with a slice of lemon in it, it's lovely and soothing

OP posts:
Baystard · 27/02/2023 18:25

Well done @SpottyBumPony @Skiphopbump @BrendaLee and @OldandTired66 those are all great losses!

@Stokey good job for resisting pastries, I find them particularly challenging.

It sounds like your organisation has paid off @Smorgs, the gratin sounds delicious and waaay nicer than potatoes!

DryWhiteagainW · 27/02/2023 19:51

Marking place .
congratulations to everyone, some really fantastic losses.
how often do the boot camps come on MN?

FinallyHere · 27/02/2023 20:10

@Stokey

Ginger tea (a couple of slices of fresh ginger in a big pot) is much more appealing drink for me than cold water when it's chilly

I cycle through ginger, lemon and mint tea in winter months, lemon, mint or cucumber in cold water for the warmer months.

@Smorgs Apologies for the delay, I'm on it now please consider the update completed.

ditavonteesed · 28/02/2023 07:01

Wow some really impressive losses. And massive congratulations to everyone who is still koko. @Stokey congratulations on the new job,
available food at work is my biggest problem and one I still haven't mastered. There are always chocolates and biscuits hanging around in the office at work and sometimes stress and hunger get the better of me.

@Smorgs enjoy the skiing, I have never skied and I feel I would break at least one bone if I tried but I'm always in awe of people who can do it.
@Skiphopbump I realised yesterday that I get the most cold after exercise, I don't out heating on as I'm warm and then when I cool down I can't get warm again. It's almost like my body goes into shock. A hot bath is the only thing that warms me through again. Someone mentioned thyroid, I am hypothyroid and the cold is definitely worse when my levels are out.
@FinallyHere excellent news on the blood glucose.
@Daffodils2023 I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention about bleeding gums.
Inspired by @prettybird double exercise I'm doubling up this week, yesterday I did a massive gym session and then did yoga in the evening, today I am going for a run this morning and I have to session this afternoon. Only problem with this is the amount of laundry it makes. My last run was slower than usual but.... I managed to run the whole 5k, no walking at all, I made sure I ran really slowly so I could keep it going. Was slower than when I run/walk but felt like a huge achievement. Only a month till the 10k race me and friend are doing.
I have a job interview on Thursday and I'm really nervous, I need to do prep work but instead I just keep ignoring it.

Sorry that was a massive post I'll shut up now.

FinallyHere · 28/02/2023 07:16

@Daffodils2023 re bleeding gums.

I've noticed the opposite, that my gums bleed a lot less, infact not at all after a year of serious boot camping.

In that time, I've lost a lot of weight and my blood glucose levels have dropped significantly. My dentist spontaneously mentioned that the bleeding is an inflammatory response, associated with higher blood sugar levels

We agreed that it might also be a result of not eating sweets late at night as I drop off to sleep, after I've brushed my teeth. But who knows

p.s. I usually was washed my teeth, DH claims it's brush my teeth. Any takers ?

Rayna37 · 28/02/2023 08:50

@FinallyHere I would say it's NEVER washed your teeth and always brushed. However I would also say Mumsnet's a fascinating place to learn the things you didn't know you didn't know, and local dialect and phrases (and pronunciation) I've never come across before are definitely one of them.

I was a student when I first discovered there are parts of the UK which call trousers pants! Totally normal but just outside of my experience.

FinallyHere · 28/02/2023 08:56

Thanks @Rayna37 I'm keeping my fingers crossed for at least one person on MN supporting wash my teeth.

DH usually wins this kind of argument discussion hands down. I grew up abroad so am not really the most reliable source for English custom and practice. Family origin is NI, DP and DSis all say/said wash so fingers crossed for some regional variation.

If I don't get any takers in the warmth and support of LCBC, I may need to hoik up my big girl drawers and risk AIBU. 😀

prettybird · 28/02/2023 09:04

Sorry @FinallyHere Wink - I'm in the "brushed" teeth category Grin

BIWI · 28/02/2023 09:15

Definitely brush!

OP posts:
BIWI · 28/02/2023 09:17

@Daffodils2023 sorry to hear about bleeding gums - but honestly, everything I've read about low carbing would suggest that it really can't cause that - if anything, your oral health should improve

Here's a piece about it here

I think it's something you need to see your dentist about, as gum disease needs to be dealt with

OP posts:
Skiphopbump · 28/02/2023 09:32

@Daffodils2023 my DD has ulcerative colitis so is prone to bleeding gums, she uses Colgate Perio Gard Gum Protection toothpaste and mouthwash and finds it helps.

Also in the brush teeth camp.

Not feeling as cold today, maybe my body is adjusting to the amount of exercise I’m suddenly doing. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling boiling due to a hot flush - the joys of being a woman!

OldandTired66 · 28/02/2023 09:45

Sorry, @FinallyHere, I brush or clean my teeth, even floss (sometimes) and use mouthwash but never heard of anyone washing their teeth. That's from an irish/yorkshire/midlands background. ;). Lunch with friends yesterday was a real pick me up. I had a burger, left the bun and my friends took care of the chips for me. That's what friends are for! Quiet day today with no temptations, just some boring admin to sort and making offerings to the gods for my tatty little car's MOT tomorrow. Good luck with the job interview @ditavonteesed.
