Good Morning Campers !SmileFlowers @FinallyHere will be along shortly with the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness but I know we've already had a lot of success, both on the scales and NSVs.

In the meantime, here is the link to the "Master" recipe thread to provide inspiration for all the lovely food you can make on this WoE.

Links to the Boot Camp Low Carb Recipe threads http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/lowcarbb_bootcamp/4676617-links-to-the-boot-camp-low-carb-recipe-threads

We're into the final fortnight but we'll still be around afterwards for support or to continue following the Rules Smile If you've only just started, there is still time to lose up to half a stone before Christmas Xmas Grin That's still my objective Xmas Wink

I'm getting my flu and Covid vaccinations this morning - no #vaccake for me but I'll come hone and have a cup of coffee from our new bean to cup machine Grin

Yes, definitely @Oneborneverydecade - it's one of the many benefits of low carbing.

Giving up/reducing caffeine and alcohol are also supposed to be helpful, although I never really managed either!

I also found that Boots Menolieve was really helpful. I can't take HRT as my mum died from breast cancer, and my GP actually suggested Black Cohosh (which is the active ingredient in them)

NotDonna · 28/11/2022 16:37

@Oneborneverydecade im on HRT now and that’s made a massive difference but has been trial and error with types/dosage. Don’t suffer, go get some help. X
I forgot to weigh this morning as just one of those days. Will do tomorrow instead. Had pukka teas all day & tons of water. Cheeseburger pie & spinach for lunch. Making kids & DH chicken kievs, veg & mash but I’ll have left over curries (but not the dhal or rice). I walk the dog every day but today was a different route and boy my legs ached. I felt really unfit! I’ve new wellies and wonder if it’s remotely possible that they’re making my legs ache as they’ve ached more on a usual route too. That just sounds like a really rubbish made up excuse doesn’t it? If my old boots weren’t ripped I’d see if they ached with those.

Oneborneverydecade · 28/11/2022 16:51

Thanks @BIWI I had an idea it would help - I know myself that I feel brighter when I'm eating low carb - just need to get stuck back in

I don't drink many caffeinated drinks fortunately - I've developed a taste for camomile since this started

I'll make a note about the Menolieve thank you - I don't think I can take it yet as I'm classed as of child bearing age and I don't use a contraceptive

I hope you're well?

BIWI · 28/11/2022 17:00

Yes, very well thank you! Just busy in the run up to Christmas - and very grateful to @prettybird for leading this Bootcamp Smile

ZiggZagg · 28/11/2022 18:46

Evening campers!

I didn't weigh this morning as was a stressy start to the week, DD is refusing to go to school, DS then copies! Iris is impersonating a very hungry shark at the moment and then I realized I was in court for work, so the scales did not get a look in today! WFH tomorrow so fingers crossed for a nice calm day!

Food not been great today, need to do better!

Baystard · 28/11/2022 22:28

NSV - I wore my 'slim' Levi's today Shock

They fit beautifully in the legs/bum/hips and only slightly too snug in the waist but not uncomfortably, nor unattractively when worn with a jumper. I still haven't weighed since week 1 so that's given me a real boost. Haven't worn these jeans for at least 3 years, maybe 4.

FinallyHere · 28/11/2022 23:30

Gratters @Baystard on wearing your 'slim' Levi's.

NotDonna · 29/11/2022 06:37

Down 1.2 this morning so just over 10lbs this boot camp. I’d love to lose another 2 making it a stone (is there 12 or 14 pounds in a stone? I’m now thinking it’s 14 - I’m a kg person really).
Our Christmas starts in 2 weeks with a flight to Australia. I already know how hard a low carb diet is on flights! And it’s a long flight (24hrs) so need some strategies, any ideas please?

NotDonna · 29/11/2022 06:38

Oh baystard unworn jeans for 3/4 years is a huge achievement! 👏🏻

humancalculator · 29/11/2022 07:21

Below 85kg this morning! That’s the boost I need. Crept up over 80 in 2016 and haven’t been below it since, so that’s my next big goal. Slow but steady - might get there by Easter?

pinknsparkly · 29/11/2022 07:52

Weighed in this morning and the scales confirmed what the work trousers I'm wearing had already told me. I only bought them a few weeks ago and was between two sizes. I could fit into the smaller ones but would be seriously testing the seams when squatting/crouching (which I did quite a lot at work) so bought two pairs in the larger size. Suffice to say, I should have got one of each size 😁

I've also now lost 40lb since starting my first bootcamp in August last year. Despite regaining some of the weight between a few of them. I don't lose much, if anything, most weeks so looking at the bigger picture really helps!

Congrats @Baystard and @humancalculator, they're both fab achievements!

SerenWantsItAll · 29/11/2022 08:20

Hallo all, just dropping by to say moving has taken alot more of my time than I realised it would. I've had some wobbles, quite a bit of convenience eating, but I'm hanging on the wagon!
I did give myself a "day off" for my son's birthday and ate an enormous piece of his birthday cake and party snacks, felt SO awful the next day. I really think this low carb is good for me in many ways more than keeping weight in check. Is it associated with less inflammation? It felt like all my arthritis was exacerabted.

prettybird · 29/11/2022 09:50

Just a quick post to say I was down to 12st 2.75lb this morning, so that's a stone since I started this Boot Camp Smile

Feeling a bit grotty after a bad night's sleep (couldn't stop shivering and both arms were sore)c presumably as a result of the jags. Sad

Will catch up properly later.

NotDonna · 29/11/2022 10:14

@humancalculator well done you! I’d highly recommend the ‘happy scale’ app as it’s free and tells you when you’ll reach your goal and also smooths out the spikes, which I like.
@pinknsparkly you should have bought two of the smaller size! 40lbs is an incredible achievement!
@SerenWantsItAll im sure there’s a link between sugar and inflammation.
Great loss @prettybird but do hope you feel better soon!

BIWI · 29/11/2022 14:40

@SerenWantsItAll low carb definitely helps with inflammation.

BIWI · 29/11/2022 14:42

There's a piece here about it

From 2007, but it was the first thing that came up when I Googled.

Also worth reading Why We Eat (Too Much) by Dr Andrew Jenkinson, which goes into more detail about anti-inflammatory eating.

Sunsnowsun · 29/11/2022 16:18

Hi all, that’s some great losses. I’m down another 1/2lb, really happy with that as I had 2 meals out last week, I tried to be really good and didn’t drink much alcohol which I think helped.

prettybird · 30/11/2022 09:32

Finally going back over the recent posts .....

@Baystard - fantastic news on the Levi's Flowers Little Big NSVs like that are why we're doing this Smile. Good on you as well for trusting your clothes rather than becoming obsessed with the scales.

@NotDonna Congratulations on losing over 10lb Flowers (a stone is 14lb Shock, but I'm sure you'll get there too by Christmas). Re your long flight, have you done any fasting during this BootCamp? Given how bad airline food is, why not just do an extended fast? Just drink lots of water - which is the most important thing on a flight anyway. Alternatively - take a few Pepperami or Babybels as snacks - although iirc, you'd need to throw away any you don't eat before entering Australia.

Hi everyone!
I have been MIA, it was my works christmas do last Friday and the resulting hangover led me down a dark carb pit.
I didn’t weigh this week, I’m going to just weigh at the end now and dust my self off and hopefully shift 7lbs before the 23rd of December!

Keep going & well done so far everyone x

prettybird · 30/11/2022 09:39

@humancalculator Congratulations Flowers Slow and steady is definitely the way to do it. Smile

@pinknsparkly - that's a fabulous achievement Flowers. I hope you've gone and bought that smaller pair of trousers now Grin

@SerenWantsItAll - moving house is always a stressful time so well done for hanging on in there. I see @BIWI has already answered the question on the inflammatory impact of carbs. Sorry you had to experience it in practice Sad - but it's a good incentive to KOKO Smile

OP posts:
prettybird · 30/11/2022 09:43

@ListenLinda - good on you for dusting yourself off and re-focussing Smile. I'll join you in the quest to lost half a stone by Christmas - it would get me into the 3 digit territory (ie 11st 9lb or lower) Xmas Smile

OP posts:
ListenLinda · 30/11/2022 10:21

We can do this @prettybird 😊

prettybird · 30/11/2022 20:56

Just had a few carbs in that I've had some haggis (it is St Andrews Day Grin) but had it with a large portion of buttery mashed neeps Smile

Having done another extended fast, I seem finally to have broken my habit because that's all it is of snacking over the day BlushHalo

Off to drink more water Halo

ZiggZagg · 30/11/2022 22:28

Evening! I finally weighed and upset with myself after a gain!

Have responded positively (fingers crossed) with a good day of food and water!

Onwards and downwards I say!

I have Covid but feeling ok with it, just bored in the house.

Iris is keeping me sane!

prettybird · 30/11/2022 23:27

Look after yourself @ZiggZagg Flowers

Hope you recover soon Smile
