Morning campers

As ever, here is the spreadsheet

So we start the second half of this Bootcamp.

I sense that things are quietening down a little on the threads, but I hope that doesn't reflect commitment and progress?

It's interesting to hear the chat about maintenance, and very positive that people are starting to realise that it might not be long before they have reached that stage.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit more positive @FusionChefGeoff

@NigellaAwesom - your cloakroom looks lovely. Love the need to provide for the cat as well Grin

@Moonswimmer and @venusandmars - sailing sounds, to me, like a week/weekend from hell! I'd rather do an SAS outward bound course than be stuck on a tiny boat worrying about how I might go to the loo!

@StuntNun - very impressed that you could just get up and run 2K without training for it! I've completed my C25K so I'm running now for 30 minutes at a time, but I know that I'm nowhere near 5K yet, and it took 9 weeks to reach this stage!

Very envious of you @Andi2020 - wish we were near a beach somewhere.

@ElasticFirecrackers those cheese things sound lovely. What kind of cheese is Maasdam?

@ListenLinda - what do you have in your fridge/freezer/cupboards? We can try and do some kind of 'ready steady cook' for you! Tonight we're going to have a stir-fry, with pork tenderloin and either egg-fried cauliflower rice, or a sort-of pho, using Bare Naked Noodles.

@BSky I'm afraid it's inevitable that too much wine won't help. Bloating is generally dealt with by drinking more water, but I'm sorry that you're having issues with that. If it doesn't resolve itself soon, and you're still having the abdominal ache, I'd get that checked out with your GP. Just to be on the safe side.

Busy next few days here - we're having our Christmas this weekend! Off to pick up SIL from Cardiff and BIL from Bath (DH's brother and sister) and bring them back to us - along with DS2 who will come and join us. So lots of prep work to do to keep us all fed and entertained.

Presents are under the 'tree'; all the beds now have Christmas bedding and we have a couple of Christmas candle ornaments on the mantlepiece as well as little stash of Christmas loo paper in the bathrooms Grin

(Oh, and plenty of Champagne and fizz in the fridge)

@prettybird

Dh did try something along those lines *@nowlook* : "Why did I need to continue to go to classes as surely I knew what to do by now?" Hmm

He got short shrift. Grin

....that was a good few years ago. He's not tried it since Grin
nowlook · 17/05/2021 19:47

Grin Grin

Are your relatives also bringing their gifts for you @BIWI? It would be interesting if not. I like is best when this thread's a veritable microcosm of MN.

always buy something for SIL that I covet, so would have snaffled it myself by February

BIWI · 17/05/2021 19:57

Oh yes definitely! We are likely to have an issue with BIL not putting his hand in his pocket, (a perennial bugbear, as DH and I always spend a stupid amount of money providing food, wine, taking them out for lunch etc), but there will be gifts.

Oh no dita, hope it’s not too painful?

Wow, congratulations hoover

Moonswimmer · 17/05/2021 20:03

B: bowl of hot, unsweetened, buttered rhubarb
L: ham and salad with oily dressing
D: sausage and tomato

W: getting better but still a few pints to go.

ZiggZagg · 17/05/2021 20:08

Evening all, change of plan seeing as I did not switch the slow cooker on!

L Greek Yoghurt
D Beef Burger on slcr with cheese, sprouts and celeriac fries

Happy Christmas @biwi Grin

FusionChefGeoff · 17/05/2021 20:22

@nowlook middle midlands (!) although I think technically East - just..

Some great losses - I am lower than yesterday but still a slight gain this week - but I'll take today's weight for the spreadsheet and focussing on water and being a bit stricter this week to hopefully sneak under my next 10 in the pounds next week...

Absolutely knackered - up late working over the weekend so Call The Midwife then bed for me I think!!

FusionChefGeoff · 17/05/2021 20:23

@ZiggZagg what were you supposed to have?!? Will it be ok for tomorrow as that's a bonus if it is!

nowlook · 17/05/2021 20:35

Also watching Call The Midwife tonight.

That's quite the identity crisis you have there @FusionChefGeoff Grin

ZiggZagg · 17/05/2021 20:45

@FusionChefGeoff chicken stew, I'm cooking it overnight to have for lunch tomorrow Grin

Random789 · 17/05/2021 21:22

Sorry to hear aboit the accident, ditavonteesed. That's an incredibly stylish way to break your nose, though. Everything is more stylish when a Dalmation is involved.

B: 2 coffees with cream
L: Mixed salad with oil and blue cheese dressing and slices of salami
D: Pork loin chop with lemon/thyme/cream sauce, plus fried courgettes and boiled white cabbage.

Another coffee, and a cocoa made with just water no milk.

PineappleSunglasses · 17/05/2021 21:38

Hope you feel better soon @ditavonteesed and well done to everyone who have reached targets!

Long post alert:

I was wondering if anyone had any advice about this WOE and exercise, I really struggled with my fitness class today even though I was always able to keep up with the classes even when I was 2.5 stone heavier.

It's probably because I have literally done no exercise since classes were stopped in October but my mum kept saying its because I dont have any carbs and attempted to force feed me vimto Grin (I abstained).

I've seen on previous threads that the runners of the bootcamp have had similar issues when they have gone back to running but I cant remember if its something that you get used to as you exercise more and you are fat adapted or if there was specific advice that helped.

My food and drink intake today, prior to the class has been:
2 litres of water
1 cup of tea with almond milk
No breakfast as I fast until approx 1pm
Lunch: large salad (seriously takes me forever to eat it) consisting of lettuce, cucumber, green pepper, olives, avocado, chicken and cheddar cheese, covered in mayo. Babybel on the side.

Do I need to be eating more on exercise days? Any help would be much appreciated because I love the classes but today I felt physically sick about half way through.

NigellaAwesome · 17/05/2021 21:51

@BIWI I hope you enjoy your Christmas dinner. I did a double take as my next door neighbours are also having Xmas dinner this weekend, complete with tree and lights.

@venusandmars your sailing trip sounds glorious. I did a bit a few years ago and loved it. I never had to hang off the side bare bottomed though! ⛵️ 🌊🍑
Have you tried a shewee?

@ditavonteesed ouch - I hope you feel better soon. Apparently there is a 72 hour window to get it put back in position, so don't be fobbed off with people telling you to allow swelling to go down first.

SittingontheSidelines · 17/05/2021 21:55

Thanks @ditavonteesed. I too was up for stuffing a chicken breast with a babybel, very disappointed. How minging was minging? It sounded such a good idea

Lamb rack with cauliflower, tenderstem broccoli and baby corn in fried in butter for me tonight. Lunch was left over spicy chicken wings, leaves and cucumber.

BIWI · 17/05/2021 22:13

@PineappleSunglasses you don't need to eat more, and you certainly don't need to be eating carbs before exercise!

TBH, by now you should be fat-adapted, so if you're still struggling it's much more likely to be the fact that you haven't done any exercise since October!

It might be a good idea, until you get fitter and back into your exercise, not to fast on those days, but to have a light, low carb breakfast.

BSky · 17/05/2021 23:09

@ditavonteesed - ouch! Hope it’s not too painful and you can get sorted.

@potas and @TheHoover - 👏👏

@prettybird - shame about your Pilates class. Hope you can sort suitable coffee arrangements - so important after exercise!

@BIWI

B: coffee (16:8)
L: slice courgette frittata & cucumber with pate.
D: spinach & watercress soup, Greek yoghurt & pancetta
Snack (whispers.....low carb brownie with cream). Think I can see where my increases are happening.
Lots of water Hope Christmas celebrations are going well.

BSky · 17/05/2021 23:13

@venusandmars - I will be looking at sailors differently now. Wondering if they have hung bare bottom off the back of a boat to wee on sea adventures. I’ve recently joined a sailing club to paddle board so see a fair few these days. There are so many things you learn on mum’s stuff!

ditavonteesed · 18/05/2021 06:58

@Random789 you would think things would be more stylish with a Dalmatian but she is actually a great big clown, she walks into street signs and falls over because she doesn't know how her own brakes work. She currently has blue stripes from when I painted the fence.
@PineappleSunglasses I found the first couple of times I excecised I struggled but after that was ok, it was very early into this woe though.
@SittingontheSidelines I had to have some strawberries and cream to get rid of the taste, it was awful (I still ate it though 🙄).
On a side I have found the only way I can keep up with these threads is to have the thread open on my phone to read whilst I reply on my iPad. Otherwise I forgot who said what by the time I try and type a reply 😂

Gratuitous puppa pic

SittingontheSidelines · 18/05/2021 07:03

When I was last replying to you I was trying to remember who'd broken their nose so I could commiserate, couldn't so I posted without. Back to the thread and it was youShockThanks

Random789 · 18/05/2021 07:24

Awwwww at the puppa pic and lololol at the blue stripes.

I am so up for dog pics at the moment. I have just begun exploring the possibility, now that my dear old parson russell has died, of getting a puppy from this breeder: www.pacolito.co.uk/

The pics on that site have sent me into a permenant squee spasm.

Bestbees · 18/05/2021 07:25

@BSky currently reading a pirate diary to the kids and they have a kind of urinal that goes straight into the sea as the boy nearly fell over trying to wee!

Plan for today:
L salad with comte, smoked ham, few gherkins and mayo
D beef goulash with buttered cabbage
MIM didn't run yesterday as it was raining so did yoga. Will try to run today.

MrsBertBibby · 18/05/2021 08:35

Morning all. Sorry about your poor nose, Dita!

This is not the very best weather for a roofing job!

BIWI · 18/05/2021 08:36

@Random789 those dogs are so cute!

Is ten minutes on an exercise bike better than nothing?? I need to start somewhere! I hate exercise but need to force myself!
