Seriously low carb bread

superstar63 · 08/10/2020 14:23

Has anyone tried this, it seems almost too good to be true 0.9g carbs in a slice and 2.9g in a roll?

I have ordered some but delivery is taking 6 - 7 days!

It would be great if you could let us know what it's like please @PolaDeVeboise

StuntNun · 06/02/2021 13:33

Fried mushrooms on low carb bread. I didn't think I missed bread until I found out about this stuff!

Yes, I’d be interested to see what people thought of them-which one do you think is the nicest?

PolaDeVeboise · 06/02/2021 15:28

Will do @StuntNun

Hi All. Just to say I got my Low Carb Food Co bread today and it's LOVELY. Had it as toast with ALL the butter - tasted just like the 'real' thing!

MrsGarethSouthgate · 14/02/2021 00:11

Any photos @PolaDeVeboise? As the images on the website are stock ones.

I am tempted by the seeded loaf... how many carbs a slice is it please? 🍞

Hi everyone

I'm a very long time lurker, and this is the first thread I've ever posted on. I might venture into the Bootcamp thread at some point!

I've extensively tried the low carb bread from both the Seriously Low-Carb Food Co (loaf A) and the [[www.lowcarbfood.co/shop/low-carb-sliced-loaf/
Low-Carb Food Co]] (loaf B). This is my experience:

Loaf A - Has a slight eggy taste, texture is chewier (no crumbs). This is the loaf I tried first, and I loved it. It really helped me through the periods when my carb cravings were at their highest. I've also tried their rolls, which are also very good and very filling. I didn't think it would get any better than this.

Loaf B - no eggy taste (as it doesn't contain eggs!), it's not as chewy, and the texture is more similar to "normal" bread. It probably has less of a "bready" flavour, than Loaf A, but there's very little in it.

All in all, I think Loaf B (Low-Carb Food Co) will be the one I will buy going forwards, even though it's more expensive than Loaf A (and both are NOT cheap!). The ingredients list for Loaf B is far shorter and seems cleaner than for Loaf A, with fewer preservatives. I also felt better after eating Loaf B - can't really explain why, maybe it's to do with the ingredients list.

It's a shame that the Low-Carb Food Co don't do rolls as well. I'm also a fan of the Seriously Low-Carb chocolate brownies, which I know has had mixed reviews from Mumsnetters.

I also bought the Low-Carb Food Co flour. God knows why, as I am the world's worst baker. I will try making pizza dough, and if anyone has any recipes, that would be really helpful.

Hello! Can I ask if people are still managing to lose weight whilst eating the seriously low carb bread? Thinking of getting some but want to make sure it lives up to it's seriously low carb promise........

PottedCrab · 17/02/2021 10:34

I can’t get on to the SLC website - can anyone else?

PottedCrab · 17/02/2021 12:09

Panic over, I’m on now...

MeltedCioccolato · 17/02/2021 16:43

Can I just re-ask my question above - is this bread as good as it sounds and can you still lose when eating it? Thanks

Unreasonabubble · 17/02/2021 16:55

I don't know if anyone has posted this website before, apologies if they have but I have made this bread loads of times and although the slices are small, they are really tasty and filling.

Hi Melted - I think the thread (I just read it through) seems to suggest it doesn’t knock you out of ketosis or affect blood sugar and people are losing.

MeltedCioccolato · 18/02/2021 10:38

Thanks PCrab!

Canihavethefatoffyourmeat · 18/02/2021 21:05

Hi Melted, I've been eating this bread since I started low carb in October, and I've still managed to lose 1.5 stone, so as long as you're mindful and don't binge on it, you should be fine.
Happy eating!

MeltedCioccolato · 18/02/2021 21:45

Thanks @Canihavethefatoffyourmeat - that's reassuring :)

Update to my review of the Low-Carb Food Co sliced bread.
I was placing my order, and checking the ingredients list (I'm a bit OCD about these things), and it now contains egg, whereas previously it didn't. So I will report back on how it tastes.

PolaDeVeboise · 20/02/2021 17:37

Hey all. Sorry for the delay. Photos of the Low Carb Food Co bread. Slight quibble in that it toasts a bit weirdly - the crusts get burned before the middle bit is brown. However, it does taste like bread.

MeltedCioccolato · 24/02/2021 07:41

Hi all, just an update to say thanks for the recommendation - the Seriously Low Carb Bread is amazing and a total game changer for me. Bread has always been my downfall (the forbidden fruit!) so now I have this in my arsenal of low carb products I feel a lot more motivated. I also have carbzone low carb wraps and atkins crisp breads. I try to restrict myself to just one or two items a day and it seems to be working and I'm definitely shrinking (although not going to weigh in for a few days as I like to leave it a couple of weeks between weigh ins as I get demotivated by daily fluctuations).

MeltedCioccolato · 24/02/2021 12:22

Sorry me again! Just to add I had french toast for lunch just now and it was the most delicious thing I've ever eaten - fried in lurpak!!

PoppityPop · 24/02/2021 12:50

Ok so happy I found this thread! I’ve just ordered some of the Low Carb Food Co bread too and can’t wait until it comes!
The website talks about it being high in fibre so not to eat too much. Has anyone experienced any side effects? I have quite a delicate stomach so need to be careful.

MeltedCioccolato · 24/02/2021 13:53

I haven't had any side effects as yet and it seems to agree with me so far. What I noticed to my immense joy was that I can have toast or a sandwich made with this bread and I don't immediately look pregnant like I would if it were regular bread. Happy days.

PolaDeVeboise · 24/02/2021 15:45

Hi @PoppityPop, I have a max of 2 slices a day and have had no issues.

PoppityPop · 25/02/2021 11:20

Thanks both of you. I feel a bit scared of trying it in case it stalls my losses but I’m also incredibly excited 😂
