We've reached the end of the Low Carb Bootcamp so how did you do overall? Add your weigh-in to the Spreadsheet and let us know your plans. Would you like to keep losing weight over the coming week and months? Are you thinking about giving weight maintenance a go? Have you considered introducing intermittent fasting? This thread will continue until the next Bootcamp starts so there will be plenty of support for you.

In fact, we didn’t even make it to the chocolate fountain for dessert. That’s tonight’s special joy. I will, of course drink abstain.

ShagMeRiggins · 04/05/2020 13:10

@venusandmars the “style” thing, ha ha, no, not some new loungewear during lockdown.

My business is a franchise of a well known company that provides services in colour consultation, personal style, makeup, wardrobe edits, capsule wardrobes, personal shopping, etc.

A few bootcamps ago some were struggling with clothing during weight loss—how to transition etc—and we stumbled on the bright idea that we should have a meet-up in my studio as I offered to run a session that would guarantee enough style tips to help everyone. There was y’all of chipping in but ultimately I was happy to do it free as a way to thank everyone who has helped me so much these past three years on bootcamp.

I want to stress two things—I’m not trawling Mumsnet for business (because they frown on that and it’s also not the kind of person I am), and I would always, always suggest to anyone who would like to pay for these services to visit her local consultant (because ours is a very supportive and sharing company).

In the end we tried to find a date that suited all then summer holidays took over. Anyway, I think now might be a nice opportunity for a virtual meet-up for those who might be interested.

If you are, send me a PM with email address so I can add you to the list.

ShagMeRiggins · 04/05/2020 13:15

Freshly picked radishes to go with lunch

God I love a good radish. I remember a dinner at my Aunt’s home in France where the starter was simply radishes from the garden served with rock salt. Sublime.

venusandmars · 04/05/2020 13:51

@ShagMeRiggins I've sent you a PM

ShagMeRiggins · 04/05/2020 14:21

I’ve replied.

If anyone else is interested, do drop me a PM. Depending on interest levels I’ll run one or two sessions so it can be sane—because Zoom can be quite INsane.

I’ll send an email to the originals who were interested and to those from here who’d like to pop on.

If you’re worried about anonymity you don’t have to use your real name, can use a burner account for email, and I suggest everyone changes their Zoom name to their username here for ease of identification.

Of course y’all can do what you like. Wink

DietChic · 04/05/2020 14:29

Grin glad the bin bags are amusing. It makes me sit bolt upright with staggered ire every time!

I’m waiting for my salt and vinegar pork scratchings - v excited! And the raclette sounds sooooo good. I love fondue.

Radishes are great - there are so many amazing things to eat on this WOL - I don’t know why I whinge about missing crisps and crunch, I just need to ask the thread.

venusandmars · 04/05/2020 14:53

So now I need a workshop on how to change my zoom name - temporarily of course so I don't share my MN identity with people in real life Smile

venusandmars · 04/05/2020 14:54

And the radishes were glorious, so different from the hard dry bullets you buy in the supermarket

ShagMeRiggins · 04/05/2020 14:58

Really easy to change Zoom name. Just click on the name that’s shown when you’re on a call and type a different name. That’s from a desktop computer but I’m sure there’s something on a smartphone and very likely in Zoom settings before entering a call.

Twit · 04/05/2020 15:46

Thanks @StuntNun and @BIWI. I don't feel much like being strict, but I've decided to do strict bootcamp for a week or two just to get me back on track. If it's ok with everyone I'd like to check in here with what I've eaten etc?
Other than 'homeschooling' and the usual stuff, I've found myself flitting about doing a bit of this and that. I'm personally finding it hard to concentrate on anything for long.
I keep having nightmares as well, which is FUN!
Hope you're all doing ok?

Today's menu...
B: ham& cheese, decaf tea
D: broccoli and stilton soup with some meatster cut into it. Decaf bulletproof coffee.
Snack: melted cheese and marmite.
Tea: curried lime chicken curry and buttery spinach.

So far I've had 2 litres of water and I plan on having at least one more.

Take care all, and stay safe! (I never imagined that 'stay safe' would become a generic way to say 'see ya!') Strange times...

SophieRay · 04/05/2020 19:39

I've started that from today Twit too. Although it's now the time I'd sit down with a glass of wine/bottle of beer/something sweet and it's really hard - like there is no treat at the end of the day ☹️

SophieRay · 04/05/2020 19:42

B: pepperami and baby bel
L : chicken fried with courgette, green pepper and onion in Chinese five spice
D: leftovers from lunch with grated cheese

DietChic · 04/05/2020 19:50

I’m done for today - I am putting in the odd fast day as I have been at a plateau for weeks now so today was mushroom soup for lunch, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs this evening. AND THE PUFFS!

They arrived and I tore them open and they will be the ideal, NON tooth breaking substitute for the S&V crisps I miss so much- THANK YOU!

Tomorrow I’m going to fry up some chicken thighs and have them with green beans, garlic and truffle oil. And I cannot wait.

BrassicaBabe · 04/05/2020 20:27

Wow. These are tough times aren't they. Yesterday I was berating myself, thinking I ought to be using time at home to get more stuff done. I'm working FT but being home I have loads more time. I ought to be doing this more, that better etc. Today...I could crawl into a hole! I've managed not to fall off the rails, but I've pretty much just eaten pork scratchings and pepperami. Now I'm having wine for dinner Sad

Off to read to catchup.

ilovecherries · 04/05/2020 21:13

Had a tough few days for various personal reasons but have stuck religiously to low carb do at least my diet (in wider sense of that word), feels under control. Venus - I plan on trying that turnip thing tomorrow - your promise of not even knowing its turnip convinced me Grin. Shagme, virtual style sounds excellent.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 05/05/2020 06:51

Hi, Twit! With you on the concentration problems...

And Flowers to all struggling with one thing or another.

I have now had two wine-free evenings in a row, and am already feeling a bit better physically. Will take advantage of this good feeling to improve the food a bit (actual meals!), which in turn, I hope, will fuel the feel-good motivation to stay off the wine for a while.

No promises, no pressure, no stress Grin

Babe, seriously, drop the "should". No-one's coming round with a clipboard to give you marks at the end. Do precisely as little as your stress levels dictate. You do know there are people out there drifting through their days between xbox, telly, and snoozing, right? You're already ahead with the full time WFH. Pat yourself on the back, and go and have another coffee.

Rayna37 · 05/05/2020 07:21

Cherries I often struggle to find turnips! I don't think of them as veg in their own right, more as something to chop up small to bulk out a stew or shepherds pie filling or similar.

ilovecherries · 05/05/2020 10:47

Actually, in the interests of not making my turnips feel inadequate, I don’t mind them in stews, soup etc. But two vast buggers have been arriving in the veg box for weeks. They are starting to make me feel a little overwhelmed. And by this point in the year, I’m just over them. I’m wanting green stuff, which under normal circs I would just go to the supermarket and buy. Given that’s not an option, turnips it is.

devoncreamtea · 06/05/2020 09:50

Hello campers! I have wandered in hoping for a May boot camp - and of course it’s not the right time atm - which I totally understand 🙂
I’ve signed up to the Diet Doctor website for a free trial, which is helpful cos of all the science videos and interviews etc, but I like the solidarity of boot camp chat, so is it ok if I park myself in the corner?
I’ve read the latest thread and can completely relate to the reactions to the strange time we’re in. I’m glad everyone is getting through it and totally agree about being kind to yourself.
I’m wfh p/t and have an interview today to try to get a few hours shelf stacking. When schools go back (really hope it’s not June 1st as that feels too soon in terms of safety for everyone) I’ll be back in 3 days a week, but we really need extra money because my partner works for a charity and their situation is complicated - leading to much less income 😬
In terms of weight and diet, I’ve done a week so far and weight has gone up and down. Hoping for a more consistent change this week.
Thanks for all the inspiring chat! Flowers

BIWI · 06/05/2020 11:52

Welcome (back!) @devoncreamtea! No need to sit in the corner - jump right in!

devoncreamtea · 06/05/2020 13:17

Thanks @BIWI 🙂

ilovecherries · 06/05/2020 15:06

Last two days have been better. Eating more sensibly, and just accepting that what comes in the veg box is what I have to eat, even if that’s tomatoes, green beans, peas or onions. It’s hardly mainlining full fat coke. I also got a big delivery of bedding plants and compost, which I’d given up on, so that was lovely and all the containers are full now. Something very soothing about messing about with plants. And finally, HMRC confirmed my elegibility for the self-employed grant. I couldn’t see any reason why I wouldn’t get it, but reassuring to have it confirmed. And my jeans zipped up!

devoncreamtea · 06/05/2020 15:11

Sounds like a win!

SophieRay · 06/05/2020 15:17

Love the positivity Ilove Smile

ShagMeRiggins · 06/05/2020 16:08

devon a lot of us are still bootcamping, BC Lite for most (ahem, alcohol) and if you’d like to post your food and get feedback that’s possible.

I’ve decided to limit booze to possibly Friday/Saturday instead of every single damn day Blush after this weekend.

I’m also—finally—going to explore this whole “hour of exercise” thing I keep hearing about. Grin

I have to admit the main motivation is because I’ve lost enough weight now that if I don’t commit to something more than sporadically my flesh will just be hanging, and that ain’t the look I’m going for. I’ve been a fabulous start/stopper this past year, had been much more consistent previously.

Also, I’ve been kicking ass on the WATER, which helps enormously.
