Welcome to week 3!

As BIWI's away, she asked if I would start the week 3 thread. I've stolen her words from a previous week 3, as it's such a good explanation of bootcamp v. bootcamp light. Grin

Morning all.
Struggling a bit today.

I haven't gone off plan but I feel a bit disheartened. Here I am most of the way through week 3, and total loss as of this morning is 2.5lb. Other than a little vodka on Friday and Saturday nights I have been on plan. No wearing new outfits for me or people noticing I am losing weight. I am delighted for those losing the best part of a stone in the same time, but what am I doing differently? Other than being perimenopausal (48 in July).

I also have the headaches each morning and the last two or three days, no energy at all: I could easily sleep 11 hours. I am on half term so some of that will be the crash.

Yesterday I was hungrier than recently
Breakfast: sweet omelette with 2 eggs, drop of vanilla essence, tofu and 3 raspberries, fried in butter and served with a dollop of cream.

Lunch: halloumi and fried veg: courgettes, broccoli, onion and a little red pepper, plus green leaves.

Dinner: fried chilli chicken and coleslaw made with red and green cabbage and a little onion mixed with mayo and Greek yogurt

Snacks: 1 coffee with cream, I slice cheddar and five olives, 1 teaspoon of extra thick cream with 1 strawberry.

Drank plenty of water. Wee stick says ketones present. Can anyone see anything wrong?

Lonesurvivor · 31/05/2018 09:39

Thanks stunt I never feel thirsty just a mild headache, I've allergies so with the fab weather we're having in Ireland it could also be that. I'll try the lemon juice.

Urghhh.....I'm being so good and standing still weight loss wise - despite spending most of the night in the bathroom. Only week 3, and I have lost 7 lbs as of today, but fluctuating between 7lbs and 9lbs loss this week (for the whole 2+ weeks).

Seem to be eating a lot, and I am sneakily tracking on MFP - yesterday 1644 cals (which I know is irrelevant but still scares me), 30 gms. carbs, 126 gms. fat and 98 gms. protein. Drank 3 lts. + of water plus 3 hot drinks.

Be really grateful for thoughts on whether I just need to KOKO, or whether my balances are out of kilter.

Thanks for any guidance to all of you experts out there! Smile

Really pleased with myself: we went across to Edinburgh yesterday to see John Sopel at Waterstone's (and for ds - who'd had some correspondence with him to add to his Modern Studies Higher assignment - to get his book signed) (well worth the trip - he was interesting and engaging) and afterwards we went for a curry before getting the train back to Glasgow.

I resisted having any of the 3 large poppadoms that they brought while we were deciding; chose punjabi karahi lamb with no rice; had the side salad that came with dh's lamb tikka; and resisted the large peshwari nan that they ordered. Lots and lots of water.

Halo

Oldbirdy - just wanted to point out that 2.5lb in 2.5 weeks is 1lb a week Confused If you average that over a year (remembering that there will be stalls, ups and then the occasional whoosh down), that's 52lb in a year!

All without feeling hungry Grin

Morning campers

Stuntnun, BIWI thank you so much for all** the excellent information you've given over the last few days. I'm happy to report that thanks to a significant increase in fat intake I have lost 3lbs
One more pesky little sucker needs to piss off and put me back into the 10st bracket.

I now have six weeks until my DS's wedding so I'm feeling more hopeful that I will be able to fit into a nice outfit and at least not be the fat woman in a wheelchair on the day.

Food plans for today:

B eggs, bacon and halloumi
L tuna salad
D not sure yet - going to browse the recipe threads but it will be something with a massive salad.

Lonesurvivor · 31/05/2018 10:03

seafour well done on the loss, amazing what fat does for us on LCHF, I'd never have thought it possible.

Justmuddlingalong · 31/05/2018 10:20

Well, what a nice surprise this morning, 1.4lb down. After a bit of yo-yoing over the last few days, my weight is down by 8 lbs in total from the start of bootcamp. When it was a bit sticky, I cut back on dairy and upped my fat. Seems to have got me over the stall. Happy days. 2.6lb more to get me to my first target of 10 stone. Grin

I’m really glad to see people having success.

I had my Sainsbury delivery so I have a fridge absolutely stuffed with a FLGV. I’ve also bought more fish to eat, as we don’t really eat enough fish (even though DS2 loves it). I’ve cleared out everything in the house that contains gluten (due to DS2’s coeliac) so I have quite a lot more room in my cupboards and very little in the way of processed food.

I’ve been to Pilates (which was great) and have come home to drink a litre of water and eat some fried eggs and buttered green veg (spinach, cavolo Nero, kale, spring greens). I used loads of butter. So I’m feeling pretty good. I’m going to do my first run of C25K this afternoon too.

I’ll have some yoghurt and cream for a snack later if I get hungry. And dinner is going to be fried sea bass with herb butter and an oily salad.

OrlandaFuriosa · 31/05/2018 11:35

Nsv yesterday.. took three people out to lunch in fairly posh restaurant...they’d never been to an equivalent. Two courses. They had main and pudding, I had main, then followed it with starter (smoked salmon). The face of the waiter! But it meant we all ate together.

I’ve just not been following this strictly enough. Still, other nsv, trousers looser. Back to the harsh reality.

WeShouldOpenABar · 31/05/2018 11:36

I know the answer is probably no but thought I'd check, my dm being helpful made me liver and bacon for my diet, she doesn't really understand it and added cornflour. Does this mean its off limits to me?
She said it is about a tbs which would divide over 4 portions, google gives me about 8 to 11 g of carbs for the table spoon so would that be OK split across the portions?

prettybird · 31/05/2018 11:54

If your mother has made it for you, accept that life happens and eat it with the love that she put into making it.

As you say, the carbs split amongst four are not that high. Drink plenty of water and keep your fat up! Smile

LeapinLizards · 31/05/2018 13:20

"If your mother has made it for you, accept that life happens and eat it with the love that she put into making it."
@prettybird, that made me teary.

Rshard · 31/05/2018 14:53

Lovely sentiment prettybird.

I’ve a question about mfp, I know it’s American and they count carb levels to include fibre but how can I get the true value of my avocado to show on there? Does anyone know please?

Lonesurvivor · 31/05/2018 15:03

Rshard I usually select UK/Ireland brands for items which I can't scan a barcode.
Once you're following these rules I wouldnt get too hung up on occasional things that you can't find a non US match too.

Divette · 31/05/2018 15:07

Ok i’m about to trust you all and have boiled eggs mashed with butter in a bid to up my fat intake. A bit doubtful at the mo...will report back! Is it simply eggs mashed with butter? Eaten warm/cold? Pepper and salt recommended?

Justmuddlingalong · 31/05/2018 15:10

Hot. Lots of butter. 😋 A fair amount of salt and some pepper.

Divette · 31/05/2018 15:23

Thanks justmuddling! Well I just had it and the jury’s still out i’m afraid! Not sure on that one but if it helps the pounds come off I’m sure I can stick with it every once in a while! Confused

Justmuddlingalong · 31/05/2018 15:27

It's quick, filling and ups your fat intake. Try persevering. 🥚🥚🥚

Rshard · 31/05/2018 15:33

Thank you lone

MrsBertBibby · 31/05/2018 15:34

I find it nice esp as I find I can't stomach scrambled eggs without toast.

UnimaginativeUsername · 31/05/2018 16:11

I find it easier (and quicker) to just fry an egg in lots of butter tbh. Then you can pour the excess butter over something green to eat it.

Justmuddlingalong · 31/05/2018 16:14

I picked up a bottle of Filippo Berio evo with chilli in it at Lidl this morning. £2.99 I think it was for 250 ml. It's delicious. 😋

itchyknees · 31/05/2018 18:27

Oldbirdy if you’re in ketosis then you’re burning fat. I find where I am in my cycle affects things so I might stay the same for a couple of weeks and then lose loads.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 31/05/2018 18:32

That's great news, Athel - well done!

My plan was to be ultra strict this weekend as DP is away, but I have failed before the first hurdle was reached, as a friend offered me two hm scones and I didn't say no. Hmmm. As punishment my head is not very fuzzy and I have a 2 mile run ahead of me, so hopefully as least some of those carbs will be burnt off before they can be converted....

itchyknees · 31/05/2018 18:36

Scones!!! That’s worse than my illegal haribo!Grin
