Morning all Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet of fabulousness for you all

Many thanks to wombattoo and SayrraT for keeping the threads going while I was away.

Lots of people talking about how to deal with future events, especially Christmas, and this is something that's really important to think about. This is a tough time of year for low carbing. But it's also a tough time of year if you can't squeeze into your partywear - so you need to decide which is more important. Those roast potatoes or looking good Wink

Good luck everyone

Well done starsky!

DrDiva · 14/11/2017 16:44

Hooray for Starsky !

Grimbles · 14/11/2017 16:48

Congrats Starkey!

Does this count as a NSV? Just to give a bit of context, I was the original crisp fiend - I could (and did) shovel crisps into my mouth and not even think about it. I would buy multipacks and kid myself that they all wouldn't be gone in one sitting. Anyway, there has been an open pack of kettle chips on the side left over from last weekend and I haven't even been remotely tempted by them. I am extra proud because my friends who came over are smokers and it's the first social gathering we've had since I quit the cigs too and I didn't even have a pang of wanting a smoke or a carb!

Food today:

B. Fasting
S. Picking a bit of the topping of my sons pizza, pork Scratchings, creamy coffee
D. Will be chilli with guacamole and salad leaves

Have also had a couple of normal instant coffees and around 1.5l of water so far.

Thank you everyone!! I have to say when I started, my first target of 18lbs to get to my pre-pregnancy weight felt like the impossible, so to get to 35lbs without even feeling like I've been on a diet is brilliant! To anyone looking ahead at the pounds they need to lose and feeling despondent, just keep going, it will happen!

I'm definitely sticking around, mainly because I'm off to Paris this weekend, so will need the support to get back to low carb next Monday without falling down a rabbit hole of carbs! I had told myself that if I made my goal weight before Paris, then I would allow myself a weekend off, so I do intend to have a couple of nice meals out without worrying about carbs too much, some delicious wine, cheese and a croissant or two! Wink I'm not going to worry about putting on weight, because I know that a few days of strict low carb will get me back to where I was. I'm not sure if that works as a long-term plan, I don't want to get into binging at the weekends and then strict low carb during the week, I feel that won't be good for blood sugar levels/IBS etc. For maintenance, my plan is to gradually re-introduce some carbs e.g carbier veg, potatoes etc and see how my body reacts and go from there, one of the things I really want is a banana!

Starsky
I live in Paris and have some restaurant suggestions for you if you'd like.

This place is lovely near the Louvre and I find it easy enough to navigate low carb on the menu there.
lefumoir.com/#restaurant

This place is at the top of Belleville parc and very bobo (not far from Père Lachaise) and also has low carb compatible dishes
moncoeurbelleville.com/category/carte/

This place is a bit more expensive but it's gorgeous and they are great if you phone ahead, they are really good at personalizing menus

This place is Asian fusion and is also very very good

Also, this expo is on at the moment at La Monnaie and is about women and domesticity, I really enjoyed it.

Hope you have a lovely weekend here!

pimmsy · 14/11/2017 17:28

Oh and this place is also not so carby, but the bread baskets are lethal! Also, the only female chef with three Michelin stars in Paris!

Oh my books trip to Paris

starsky22 · 14/11/2017 17:50

Pimmsy I love you! I am looking at them all now! We are going to be around Place de la Concorde Sat lunchtime, so if you can recommend anywhere near there for lunch, that would be really helpful! Thank you so much, very jealous of you living in Paris!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 14/11/2017 17:56

Pimmsy stop, I'm EnvyEnvyEnvy!

@starsky22
Le Fumoir is about a 20-minute walk from Concorde, but you can walk through the Jardins des Tuileries (the Louvre gardens) half way! And then through the arcades on Rue de Rivoli.

HarlotsWeb · 14/11/2017 18:28

I want to go to Paris and eat delicious low carb food in chic restaurants too!

YoLoNovVitMe · 14/11/2017 18:34

ilove what a wonderful yet uncomfortable analogy. You put it very eloquently. I have lost some hand luggage so far. Looking forward to it being a hold luggage worth.

cleareyes lots if what you say about your depression rings true for me. I think my low self esteem comes a lot from being in a long term abusive relationship where I was ground into nothing and ate for comfort, and what is the point in trying to be attractive when I'm already fat and ugly and worthless? That is how I felt for many years. I too have many regrets for not doing something about it sooner. I don't know if it was depression as I never told anybody how I felt let alone a gp. But I'm on the road to recovery now and so are you! That is the most important thing. The future is full of possibilities. Flowers

YoLoNovVitMe · 14/11/2017 18:39

And Flowers for somuch too and anyone else who has struggled or is struggling with depression or anxiety.

YoLoNovVitMe · 14/11/2017 18:46

Well done starsky Star Halo Star !!!!

And Pimmsy I'm bloody well booking a trip to Gay Paree now. I've been there loads of times but never had restaurant recommendations!!!!

HarlotsWeb · 14/11/2017 19:04

No! Is yoghurt drink bad!

Maybe she will be so distracted by that that she will not notice the slice of pre wedding cake.

HarlotsWeb · 14/11/2017 19:04

Fuck. Perhaps I'd better run away to Paris (neatly killing two birds with one stone).

Veryflummoxed · 14/11/2017 19:09

@ilovecherries that was a very moving and motivating post.

@ClearEyesFullHearts that was a telling question

@starsky. . Not my place to be dishing out gold stars but I couldn’t resist

Cigarettes and diet that’s fantastic @Grimbles I’ve always been overweight but when I gave up smoking, many years ago that’s when my weight rocketed

PippleBang · 14/11/2017 19:20

Great news Starsky I hope you have a lovely time in Paris!

Today has been a good day. Completed my first 18 hour fast (usually do 16 hours), had a lovely chicken soup for lunch, went for a swim after work and just polished off a delicious steak with mushrooms and creamed spinach. I love low carbing!
