I'd like to do this, but I'm worried about eating totally separate food to the rest of the family for two weeks. Is it possible to integrate bootcamp into family meals?

BIWI · 07/05/2016 13:39

Absolutely! I cook like this all the time, and have done for years now.

It means that if I'm making meals that do require carbs, e.g. chilli with rice or spaghetti Bolognese, that the rest of them have the rice/pasta, and I will just have the sauce, with extra cheese, for example.

But most of the time I'm cooking meat/fish with vegetables and salad or some sort.

It's not compulsory to eat carbs like pasta/rice/potatoes!

(If you need some inspiration for family meals, there are loads on the Bootcamp recipe thread, which is sticked at the top of the Bootcamp topic)

Thanks, I'll have a look :)

I haven't stepped on the scales for ages denial I know I'm heavier than when I started last bootcamp. I feel so big and now it's warmer I can't hide under jumpers. Feeling a bit meh today :(

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 07/05/2016 19:10

This time I'm going to smash it!

BIWI · 07/05/2016 22:48

As it turns out, I couldn't have picked a worst time to start Bootcamp Grin

Off to the US with work next week, back on Friday then straight off to Russia on Monday, the first day of Bootcamp.

Not great for me personally re being in control of food, but also not a brilliant time to try and be here for all the Bootcampers, so I'd really appreciate it if any of you who have done Bootcamp before could be around to post/help/support!

TIA Flowers

Can I join please? X

Equiem89 · 08/05/2016 10:10

Oh dear. I just weighed myself. It's awful :( :(

Bombaybunty · 08/05/2016 10:21

Yes please! I was supposed to join the last one but failed miserably.

Time to try again!

WburgWanderer · 08/05/2016 10:51

I'd love to join. Need to shed this baby weight.

BIWI · 08/05/2016 11:21

Equiem - the only way is down, though Grin

VagueIdeas · 08/05/2016 11:54

Just wanted to add an endorsement Smile

When I started LC for the first time last June, is not long had my second baby and I was the biggest I'd ever been, far bigger than after the birth of my first child (insatiable hunger and severe SPD will do that to you). I couldn't fit into my maternity jeans. I couldn't fit into the "fat" jeans I wore after DC1. It was a shock since I was hoping to lose at least two stone in baby/fluid/placenta, etc. Wishful thinking.

I was over 150lb (and I'm short, so that was big) and now I'm 129lb and feel brilliant. I don't even follow Bootcamp Lite rules strictly anymore. Occasionally have the odd bit of bread. Most days have a small sugary treat (be it chocolate, biscuit, cake) and I'm maintaining.

Bootcamp taught me to eat less as well as make better choices. It's been a revelation.

lourac4 · 08/05/2016 12:29

Hi, new girl here. I'd like to join. Would like to lose a stone, cheers.

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 08/05/2016 12:39

BIWI if you can low carb with that schedule, we should all be able to stick with it!

Made lunch today, spaghetti bolognese using lots of veg and some added lentils. Instead of wheat spirilised a courgette for the "spaghetti" fried with lots of olive oil.

Now that I'm 40 I'm going to lose the 20kg, I've been promising myself I would lose for the past two years. Am also hoping it will reduce my (premature) menopausal symptoms.

Looking for lots of support as I'm an emotional eater and also use food as a pass time when I'm bored.

Frank - I am very similar and tend to eat through boredom.

I am going to be starting tomorrow.
I have prepared my lunches for the week and made some mayo. So I'm ready to go.

BIWI · 08/05/2016 15:02

Here's a really interesting article about how addictive sugar is And for 'sugar', you can practically read 'carbs'.

wombattoo · 08/05/2016 17:21

That is interesting BIWI thank you

restinglawyer · 08/05/2016 17:28

Yes please, another newbie here. I low carbed around seven years ago and lost 2 stone. I need to lose it again. Started last Wednesday, but really looking forward to having company.

BIWI · 08/05/2016 17:33

One thing that's really, really important when we start

As well as the chat thread, I'll also start a questions thread. From experience, the first week's thread moves so quickly that if you have a particular question it can easily get missed, so try and post any questions on the specific thread.

But please, please, please - when you're posting on the chat thread - READ THE WHOLE OF THE THREAD BEFORE POSTING!

It's incredibly irritating when the same points or questions keep being made because people just come on to a thread and post their own post, without reading other people's posts. And as it's supposed to be a support mechanism, if you don't read other people's posts, you won't be able to help them out.

I work (very) full time, and I don't have time to keep answering the same question - although I do try!

Thanks SayrraT

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 08/05/2016 19:59

me too

did it years ago and felt amazing, and do it intermittently when i feel lardy, i know that' not how it works and i need a kick to get on with it and stay there.

i need some sort of incentive so will follow in here please. DH and I are off for a jaunt though 20-23 so there will be minimal lc'ing that weekend.

Patapouf · 08/05/2016 21:11

FrankUnderwoodsWife lentils are a no on BC!

With regards to water intake, does it have to be increased on hot days? If I'm already drinking 4l a day I don't think I could manage much more.
