Low Carb Bootcamp - the final weigh-in

BIWI · 30/03/2015 07:20

Morning all!

Well, here it is - the last weigh-in for this Bootcamp!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I'm not sure what's happened with the weight tracker, and I forgot to check with MNHQ Blush sorry.

From last week's thread it seems like there have been some great losses on this Bootcamp, so really well done all of you StarStarStarStarStar

For those of you interested, the next Bootcamp will start on May 11 - I think that's 6 weeks away. In the meantime, though, next Monday I'll start a continuation chat thread so we can keep going until then. (Not that you have to sign up to the next one, obviously!)

And the very lovely Sayra is going to set the spreadsheet up so that you can continue to use it.

Each Bootcamp is different (as I have learnt!), but I have very much enjoyed this one, so thank you all for your company Grin

Some great inspirational loss stories in here. Well done. yong I especially like yours as you started at my weight and I hope I can reach your end weight too.

Well I'm back to 13.8 this morning with 3 squares of choc and 2 glasses of red last night, so I'm definitely blaming the totm.

I want to put 13.8 on my weigh in, but it feels like cheating! Someone tell me it's not..... Grin

Well, my cupboards are bare and I can't put off shopping for another day, which means 3 under 5's in tow. I can get a double trolley, but then the arguing ensures about who gets to be the one walking, or I let them all walk and pray to god they don't decided to play up! Groan.

SayraT · 31/03/2015 07:48

Its not cheating sass on the first BC I did I weighed daily then put my lowest weight for the week on the spreadsheet Smile

bettybigballs · 31/03/2015 08:18

I STS this week showing an overall 12lb loss on bootcamp, really really happy.

Well done everyone and a huge thanks to everyone for help and support.

I'll be keeping on keeping in for April.

MrsKoala · 31/03/2015 09:05

Morning all. Sadly the jean shopping was disappointing and i came away without the ones i wanted. They only had Slim, Straight, Skinny and Jeggins in NYDJ and the Levis curve - which i couldn't get over my ample calves - All of which just looked crappy on me. I think i need John Lewis oxford street (rather than Kingston) for a better range.

I ended up with some 'Mom' jeans from Top Shop and some cropped cigarette pants from Gap.

Does anyone have a nice recipe for leftover roast leg of lamb?

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 31/03/2015 09:51

What are 'mom' jeans? I say this as someone who bribed their sister to do my clothes shopping when younger and now just avoid it. Blush

sassandfaff · 31/03/2015 11:02

I have no idea either. Confused

Cropped cigarette pants Confused me too.

I'm definitely more your classic type fashion person. Jeans, white t-shirt and a blazer, or wrap over dress or linen pants, ballet pumbs and a vest top. Less is more always. And I've preferred this always. Probably suits me better now I'm actually 40.

Some might say boring. Grin

sassandfaff · 31/03/2015 11:03

Ballet pumbs?! Ha

MrsKoala · 31/03/2015 11:40

Cigarette pants are a type of slim fitting tailored shorter lengthed trouser like these

Mom jeans are a high waisted, loose fit around the thigh/arse, tapered, shorter jean like this

I will wear the cigarette pants with sandals and the mom jeans with my pink brogues or pastel suede loafers with a thick sole in a kind of bovver boy/skinhead/ska look. I will wear both with shirts (loose and tucked in for the jeans and tailored for the pants) and v-neck sweaters.

I studied at the London College of Fashion back in the day so i have always been interested in fashion and i like having lots of different looks (i am quite considered in what suits me tho and wont wear anything just because it is fashionable).

I also bought this bag which looks quite classy and i wouldn't have been surprised if i saw for £££s in Russell and Bromley. I got 50% off as it had an easily repairable torn bit of the lining.

The problem i have is that i have a fab wardrobe of entirely inappropriate clothing from my pre-children days. Beautiful DVF dresses and Westwood skirts, high heels, Reiss blazers and 40s style Kathryn Hepburn pleated wide legged trousers etc. None of which are suitable for puddle jumping and rolling around on the floor (or being covered in vomit).

MrsKoala · 31/03/2015 11:42

And Sass, it doesn't sound boring. I would describe my look as classic and understated. Plain colours with tailored shapes. I do like the odd high fashion garment for fun tho.

sassandfaff · 31/03/2015 11:59

You do sound very knowledgeable. I may run everything past you in future. Smile

I'm afraid fashion is one of a very long list of things that I wish I was interested in, but which bores me a bit. Along with computers, gadgets, apps, any technology, cars, etc.

I have more workout clothes in my wardrobe than normal clothes. Decathlon was my fav shop for quite a few years!

sassandfaff · 31/03/2015 12:10

Edit to the list- shopping. Argh.

My preferred time is 9am on a Monday morning when no-one is about.

I'm quite the recluse really. Hmm

I could literally just spend my whole life training (triathlon) and reading. Bliss.

Birdinacage · 31/03/2015 12:24

Afternoon everyone, well I'm 1lb down again this week which is surprising given that I wasn't particularly on the ball over the weekend. Total loss of 7lbs this bootcamp which is great as I've had a few deviations. I will be carrying on as I still want to lose another 7lbs (ideally another stone) although I'm going to be trying to up the exercise and start weight training as it's really measurements and appearance I'm after now not a number on the scales.

Well done to all of you fellow bootcampers, everyone has done amazingly well this bootcamp Star

Romeyroo · 31/03/2015 13:16

Quick check in as at work; will catch up on rest of the thread this evening Smile.

Weighed this morning and am still not down to my lowest weight the other week (a lb lower than now), so am inclined to think

a) lowest weight was an abherration and I should count today's weight
b) the whoosh fairy is preparing for a visit

That said, I am literally 0.241g (I just worked it out) above my kilo goal weight for BC, so I am very happy with that. This makes an even 10lb off for this BC which was my pound goal weight. If I have not said thank you already ladies, let me say it now Flowers. You have no idea how much happier I am with my weight than I was when I started this last October.

I am down 1.5 inches in hip and 1 inch in thigh measurements over this BC. I am aiming for another inch off my measurements (BUT NOT MY CHEST!!!), so that gives me a reason to KOKO but will be more than happy to maintain right now and wait for May BC.

sassandfaff · 31/03/2015 15:44

I've come on for a rant. Day 2 of half term and my anxiety/stress level is considerable higher than normal.

Kids are driving me insane.

They haven't been particularly naughty as such, just all the bickering with each other.

Mummy, it's my turn to choose something to watch.
Mummy Ds won't let me in his den.
Mummy dd2 just squeezed my arm.
Mummy dd3 won't share.
Mummy mummy mummy mummy mummy mummy..........

All said whilst crying or whining at me.

Give me strength.

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 31/03/2015 17:07

Sass i have just sat there nodding at more training clothes than normal clothes and the recluse part Grin

mrsK is the model just wearing too short trousers or is the modern fashion ankle swingers? Looks very nice and capsule wardrobe like. Perfect clothes for the shopping hater Grin

LexLoofah · 01/04/2015 03:01

Hoping there are some knowledgeable low carbers hanging around this thread.

My sore throat which I had for 2 weeks is no better so went to the Drs. She said oh your tonsils are swollen, I said my tonsils were whipped out 20 years ago, she then said oh your throat is definitely inflamed then!

Have nystatin, an oral antibiotic, solution to swish and swallow but looks like it is 50% sucrose!!!!! 4x 5ml a day. Don't mind a week or two of no weight loss if it gets me better but don't want to get knocked out of ketosis as no intention of going through that again

Recall there was medications discussion earlier on bootcamp, does anyone know if this is exceedingly high or possibly should be Okay? I didnt even think to mention to Doc or ask pharmacist for sugar free version, God I am such a rookie to this low carb life outside of food

Romeyroo · 01/04/2015 05:20

No idea Lex; but I did notice similar with cough medicine for DS who is sugar sensitive, that it was mostly glucose. 50% sucrose seems to me that it would equate to 2.5g of sucrose, four time a day, which is 10g in total.

I am not an expert, but I would probably view the medication as more important to get better, and make sure that the rest of my diet was v v low carb. It may well depend how sensitive you are to carbs - the other day, I had 8 grams of sugar in a soya latte without realising at the time, and remained in ketosis, no noticeable effect on weight (though I didn't weigh the day after); but I know previously when I have had two cereal bars as there was nothing else, plus some Panini (combined about 40+g of carbs, best guess), it did have an effect. So, I would aim for v low carb to maintain whilst you are on the medicine.

On the subject of medication, it has sort of dawned on me that the hair loss I mentioned the other day is probably a side-effect of the anti-depressants I am on (it is listed as very rare, but at a population level, this probably means a reasonable number of people and Dr Google tells me other people are in the same boat). So, nothing to do with low carb diet, which I was slightly concerned about because I want to stick with this WOE.

Romeyroo · 01/04/2015 05:21

Or, if you haven't opened it, take it back and ask for a sugar-free version, if such a thing exists, but then you will probably get sweeteners.

SayraT · 01/04/2015 08:03

Hmm, I'm not sure Lex I normally steer clear of sugary medicines which I don't really need like cough medicine but I don't worry about things like sugar coating on ibuprofen. I think that paracetamol is better when you are trying to lose weight but I prefer ibuprofen so will take it if I need it.

If you have been prescribed an antibiotic I would take it even if it was 50% sucrose, unless, like Romey said you can take it back and get an alternative. There maybe an alternative but it might taste rank!!

Even though BC is now over I actually feel more focused so I am going to do my own mini-BC until the May BC starts including weighing myself daily (helps keep me on track and I don't get discouraged if I put on weight). I started today at 221 lbs and 46.3% body fat according to my scales. I know that the body fat %age is not very accurate but I can still see if it goes down.

DarkEvilMoon · 01/04/2015 08:16

You can't take medicines back if they are prescription, they get destroyed rather than reissued so it is pointless. I know this as am allergic to some ingrediants and have had to ask to read packets prior to them even issuing the meds now. BUt you can ask the pharmacist if there is a sugar free version and then ask for a new prescription to be issued (you'd still have to pay the fee though which is frustrating) sorry

Also I am on this thread already under a different name. I needed a new one thanks to a twat ex Angry Sorry can't give a clue but you will probably figure it out

sassandfaff · 01/04/2015 08:26

dark I never figure it out. Blush
Sorry about your troubles with ex. Flowers

Well I got a bit tipsy last night. And it was only tues! Day was too stressful. Got on the scales this morning and I was 13.5! That's 5lbs down from Mon. Figured it was probably dehydration, so I drank some water and a cup if tea and got back on 13.6.
I'm hoping it's my first whoosh ever and not some serious dehydration fluke due to being an anxiety headcase. Grin

I'm going to be channelling sereneness today.

DarkEvilMoon · 01/04/2015 08:40

We'll balance each other out then Sass Grin I am channelling slightly dangerous thoughts. Hmm Oh today is going to be so much fun.

ds has decided breakfast will consist of bacon and fried eggs. Which he is making himself

Now the question is do i go buy the two colours of hair dye and do something a bit drastic without doing a patch test, or do i patch test and be patient before being drastic

sassandfaff · 01/04/2015 09:09

Funnily enough dark I am also dying my hair today. Nothing drastic at all though. Garnier -Light brown.

Oh, I roll.............

Grin
almahart · 01/04/2015 09:15

I'm your fashion stalker MrsK, I have been following your jeans hunt. I have similar calves issues, so need slim leg not skinny. Your gap trews are perfect but have sold out in my (new Grin) size.

I had my first post bc night out yesterday at a Thai restaurant with friends. I ate pad Thai, rice, all sorts of stuff. Back to BCL today (cooking bacon and eggs now). No idea what effect it wil have, but if this is to be a sustainable woe then the odd night off is necessary I think.

I spent an hour going through the recipe threads while the dc were in soft play yesterday, so many lovely things to make

sassandfaff · 01/04/2015 09:28

OK dark I have you!
