Low Carb Bootcamp - the final weigh-in

BIWI · 30/03/2015 07:20

Morning all!

Well, here it is - the last weigh-in for this Bootcamp!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I'm not sure what's happened with the weight tracker, and I forgot to check with MNHQ Blush sorry.

From last week's thread it seems like there have been some great losses on this Bootcamp, so really well done all of you StarStarStarStarStar

For those of you interested, the next Bootcamp will start on May 11 - I think that's 6 weeks away. In the meantime, though, next Monday I'll start a continuation chat thread so we can keep going until then. (Not that you have to sign up to the next one, obviously!)

And the very lovely Sayra is going to set the spreadsheet up so that you can continue to use it.

Each Bootcamp is different (as I have learnt!), but I have very much enjoyed this one, so thank you all for your company Grin

Romey breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast, it sounds OK to me! I do that a lot now, especially when eggs are involved. Last night as quick and easy comfort tea I made chopped streaky bacon fried with cabbage & caraway seeds and butter with 2 poached eggs on top, just had the same for brekkie! I know what you mean about shopping though, I need to go to as shops not open here Good Friday, I have been putting off buying the kids an Easter Egg until the last minute so I am not tempted to scoff them but I can't leave it any longer

LexLoofah · 03/04/2015 02:07

Gcal made your celeriac bravas for tea, was delish thanks

Just watching ' the truth about fat ' on BBC, doubt it is going to really deliver the truth. Volunteers currently going without fat for a week, one guy seems to be living off haribo!

Romeyroo · 03/04/2015 06:33

I ended up taking DC out for dinner as it was the last day of term (had grilled Cajun chicken), and I have been busy trying to get work finished to take time off next week. Shopping still needs to be done, and doubly so as the Easter bunny stash was used to provide presents for DD's friends, teacher and Y1 buddy at the last minute. However, I am pleased as I got a 60% dark chocolate egg in Thorntons, which hopefully will not send DS too hyper if he has small pieces - and it has got his name iced on it. I have got him some 70% cocoa mini eggs as well.

Going to focus on getting exercise every day, doing a meditation every day and KOKO. Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

MrsKoala · 03/04/2015 10:06

Morning all. Just a quick post as we are packing up the car to go to mils for what will probably be the last visit.

weighed this morning at another 2lb loss. So that's 18lb and just 5lb off my goal. I really need to introduce some exercise now as I'm slim (as ill ever be) but very wobbly.

had a planned cheat of a hot x bun for breakfast which i enjoyed, but didn't taste amazing as expected.

hope all are well. Ill catch up with you all later.

Amaxapax · 03/04/2015 12:50

I just watched that programme on iPlayer, Lex. I found the whole thing very annoying.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 03/04/2015 13:17

Huge tmi post Blush

Not recovered from the cake i ate last week yet :( been very painfully constipated all week, have had to start my laxative meds up again, which increase my weight (though not really) as they make my gut retain water. Plus a week at my sisters so diet has not been as healthy as it should (tried to stay on track with, for eg, chilli with salad instead of rice, but no controlling what went in the chilli). Weighed this morning having not weighed since last week and i'm five pounds up :( :( :(

Hoping that a week of strictness will fix it...? I'll be on the inbetween thread anyway as still have loads to lose.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 03/04/2015 13:18

(I have the fat thing recorded too)

BIWI · 03/04/2015 13:42

Beyond - don't be too hard on yourself. Those 5lbs will be a re-fill of your glycogen stores. Lots of water (always good if you're constipated anyway), and be very strict, and you'll be fine.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 03/04/2015 14:16

Thanks biwi :) On the plus side, no matter how gorgeous it looks i will be steering clear of cream cakes from now on!

MrsKoala · 03/04/2015 16:32

Aaaaargh i have been asked to make cottage fucking pie for dinner. I will spoon out a portion of mince and make up the pie for the others.

BIWI · 03/04/2015 16:33

Can you not make a corner of it with celeriac mash for you?

OP posts:
MrsKoala · 03/04/2015 17:54

I don't have a celeriac. We are going shopping tomo for my supplies. Drat.

trashcanjunkie · 03/04/2015 18:42

Marking my place. Bit of a dissappointing bc this time for me.

I'm having the weekend off, eating some carbs, having some chocolate and visiting friends on Sunday for an Easter feast, then come Monday back on the wagon.

Well done everybody, and special thanks to BIWI and Sayra Flowers

LexLoofah · 03/04/2015 20:25

beyond don't bother with the fat programme was certainly not the truth,oh God why did the bbc not ask dr briffa to do it instead? It was as amax said very annoying, could have predicted the everything in moderation Mediterranean diet conclusion grrrrrrr, that over weight Dr presenting is not going to slim down anytime soon

To help us avoid the enormous parcel of Easter choc that granny sent for the DCs I have made a flourless choc cake ( dark choc, butter, eggs) looks and smells Ok, will do with a few raspberries and whipped cream after dinner, so much for doing uber this week, was a bit of a foolhardy plan.

Romeyroo · 04/04/2015 06:27

Lex, good idea actually about the raspberries for an Easter treat. My oven is still not fixed, so I can't do a cake - argh, why have I not got my act together, now I want a cake!! - but raspberries and some kind of coconut cream concoction would be nice. I have 85% dark chocolate too to nibble on.

I just ordered Annie Bell's Low Carb cook book - it should arrive today; which I am looking forward to.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 04/04/2015 11:36

Yeah, i did watch it already - might have shouted "no shit sherlock" at the screen a few times (eating fat raises blood cholesterol? Where else tf did they think it would go?) Grin was clearly aimed at people with abso no understanding, as per usual and yy, clearly not aimed at advocated a keto diet either. They could at least have compared their no fat group with a high fat group!

Also spotted a bit of bad science in "high cholesterol causes heart disease" (personally looking forward to having to explain around this one to hcps as there is a drug being worked on based on a keto diet for treating AI disease, but psoriasis (which is AI) is linked to higher chance of heart disease)

Anyway, down a lb this morning as (yay!) my bowel is back in action :)

miffy49 · 04/04/2015 14:13

Yeah, it drove me to muttering at the screen! DH is staunch SW and wanted to watch it. I knew it would make my blood pressure soar but watched it anyway so I could stand my corner in future arguments! Did anyone else find themselves scanning the credits for signs that it might have been sponsored by industry or one of the pharmaceutical gang? (Or even Haribo! Grin)

I'm still struggling to restart my weight loss. I've maintained all BC despite being really strict so I've decided to bite the bullet and do a proper food diary instead of just keeping a quick check on carbs. My only other thoughts are stress (DH has been rather poorly lately and we have had a couple of fast rides in ambulances!) or maybe my thyroid. That will be checked out at my meds revue in June. On the plus side, my health actually seems better than its been in years now I'm established on a keto diet so I shall be sticking with my fats regardless of some daft mare on the telly! Grin

SayraT · 04/04/2015 16:42

Hope your DH is alright miffy

I've just received a lovely package from a friend in Denmark, it is full of yummy horrible carby/chocolately treats! What do I do?!

I'm going to take the majority into work but I have to have the chocolate nougat marzipan eggs as I look forward to them every year. However, this will delay my plan for August Hmm

I have been riding a friends horse and she has suggested that I take him to a show in August, woohoo thought I then tried on all my old show stuff and it doesn't fit Sad It last fitted in 2006.

To motivate myself I printed a picture of me wearing showstuff (in 2006, not now!) and put the prices of each item next to it with the slogan "New Stuff £610, Lose Weight, Its Cheaper" except I think I'll need to lose 2lb per week to be the same weight that I was in 2006.

Do I enjoy my lovely marzipan nougat chocolate eggs or not?

LexLoofah · 04/04/2015 17:37

Romey how are you managing without an oven? I could not do that, seems like mine is always on for something or other, even the kettle! Is it a subconscious cunning plan to stop you baking cakes?? The choc cake was pretty good, very rich, nice to have if you had people over for dinner as not overtly low carb but really raspberries with cream and shavings of dark choc would have been just as nice

Sayra sorry can't help you there, I could not resist nougat marzipan eggs either

SayraT · 04/04/2015 18:32

lex I didn't resist! I ate them all because I thought it would be better to get them out of the way and back on the wagon tomorrow instead of having one per day.

They were yummy Smile

LexLoofah · 04/04/2015 19:55

sayra well there is some logic to that I suppose Smile and glad you enjoyed them, nothing worse than unsatisfactory carbs/cheating is there?

Just been out for lunch had bacon wrapped shrimp and salad - perfect. chased with a few dark choc covered walnuts (delish), need to get a grip on the choc after this weekend, want to lose a few lb by next boot camp or at least not put any on!

almahart · 05/04/2015 06:25

Up with excited small dc. Am definitely having too much wine and dark choc but seem to be dropping the Thai disaster pounds and am happy to maintain til next boot camp. Roast beef today Smile

Romeyroo · 05/04/2015 07:22

Morning, everyone and happy Easter Easter Smile

Lex missing my oven, tbh, but too busy in recent weeks to get someone out. Lots of salad going on here, but it is harder to cater for DC as most of the things they like are oven-based (lasagne, quiche etc). I do need to get it sorted. Cake sounds lovely.

Dug up an old and overgrown pampas grass yesterday, so felt very fit and glad to have finally started the (very large) garden project. BUT as this was the first serious effort I have expended physically for some time, I don't feel so fit this morning. I think I will have my coconut milk, flaxseed, egg and bacon concoction for breakfast. I was hungry last night, so ended up having a late supper (soya yogurt with flax seeds and cocoa nibs), which I haven't done in ages, probably all the digging.

The positive thing I can think about the large garden project is that I will be very fit by the end of the summer (and have a lovely garden - I cannot tell you how much I hate driving home to the mess, I want to come into something pretty). I am hoping focusing on this will help my mental state.

Have a lovely day everyone.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 05/04/2015 07:56

Coconut concoction? Its egg day! Grin

Low Carb Bootcamp - the final weigh-in
Romeyroo · 05/04/2015 08:34

I know, but , despite doing all the day to day stuff 95% of the time, DC are not with me at the moment, they are having egg day with their respective dads.

Last night was the first time I have been without either one or the other DC in over five years, so it is a bit weird. And very quiet.

But your breakfast looks lovely, and I will be putting eggs on to boil for painting and setting up the egg hunt for this afternoon, so it will all be fine Easter Smile
