Would anyone be interested in a support thread for young (ish) single Mums?

I see quite a few of us dotted around MN but haven't noticed us getting together. I'm sure we lend one another a supportive ear from time to time...

So anyway - I'm squiggly, DD is nearly 8 months, I'm 23 and very happy!

Janos · 10/09/2008 17:53

Oh, me too fransmom.

But it's a good idea so I will say yes.

Hats off to all you younger mums, btw. It's a tough job.

But just think when you are my age your DC's will be teenagers/nearly grown up! and

fransmom · 10/09/2008 18:00

sorry for hijack sw xx

I'm good thanks fransmom, what about you?

Sorry if that sounded patronising to younger mums btw it's honestly not, genuine admiration!

squigglywig · 10/09/2008 18:05

Oh - sorry - didn't mean to make anyone feel old! Oops!! Please don't leave 'cos of it though - I'll be more tactful in future I promise

How is everyone this evening anyway?

DD and I have been at an English playgroup which is nice - I get to talk to Mum's in English and at speed, instead of in Swedish and very badly/slowly/both!

Didn't think you were being patronising Janos! Twas a nice thing to say - thank you. It's a tough job whatever age though - so hats off to you too.

Ewe · 10/09/2008 18:11

I'm 21, single Mum, in my first week back at work. DD is almost six months.

It was her Christening on Sunday so it's been a busy few days. Most of the time I'm really good, if lonely from time to time, but DD was unwell last night and could have really done with XP being around but he was out so I'm exhausted today!

squigglywig · 10/09/2008 18:13

Judging by the looks and outright laughter I'm not so sure they do sometimes! Last week was a disaster - I had to ask for a card (kort), and so did, pronouncing kort as we would in English. Unbeknown to me kort is pronounced more like coot and saying it like kort actually means horny Oh how I wished the ground would swallow me whole!

Anyway - I can only get better so not to worry!

beansmum · 10/09/2008 18:44

I was still youngish when I had ds, but he's 4 now and I am old!

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 10/09/2008 19:46

don't say that beans mum - mines 2.5 and already i'm feeling ancient!

squigglywig · 10/09/2008 19:47

Feeling bad now! Sorry!

OP posts:
beansmum · 10/09/2008 19:48

Time flies, it's seriously scary. I was 22 when I had ds, now I'm nearly 30. kind of. Ok, not quite, but it feels like it.

squigglywig · 10/09/2008 19:53

My math makes you 26/27. That is not nearly 30!! Not even close! Or can I not count??

OP posts:
beansmum · 10/09/2008 20:23

You can count. I'm 27, but I'm definitely closer to 30 than to 20 now.

TequilaMockinBird · 10/09/2008 20:24

I'd love to join but at 29 and DD 10 am I/are we too old?!

Ewe · 10/09/2008 20:25

I would love an early night but DD has other ideas! Under 30 is definitely young, you're welcome here

Ewe · 10/09/2008 20:26

Oh are any of you going to the London xmas do? I'm tempted but worried I'll be very out of place!
