Hi essbee, I am doing my best but at this time of night typing is not the easiest what with Christmas cheer etc!!

My dad is in Thailand and is unaffected. East Thailand can't be affected. Have a look at a map, that will be the best reassurance you can have. The whole catastrophe has come in seaward, the earthquake in the middle of the ocean caused a tidal wave and Thailand's coast is on the west side. The east side of Thailand is landlocked and so this has not affected it.

and your sis is just arriving. So she is safe. She may be arriving to a country in crisis but she is not in danger herself.
