We can only do the best we can. No point in going on housework threads if you're a working LP who never has a break from the kids. Or if you're a SAHM LP with small kids who can't get to the gym.

So, a thread for us to start the New Year with good intentions and to juggle it around everything else we have to do Smile.

  • I banned Minecraft today and tomorrow after some shocking behaviour (kicking each other in the supermarket) the dc's had a burst of enthusiasm, dysoning and tidying up to get back in my good books.
  • I have managed to get out for a few runs over Xmas. We stayed with my mum for a couple of days so I went out then.

Here's to a positive start to 2015.

I've just done 45 minutes of exercise using the Biggest Loser Wii game. I'm shattered! But feeling quite proud

Starlightbright1 · 15/01/2015 14:44

Yes I am doing SW...

I find it very easy to get in the habbit of what I call freezer food. I needed to go to Tesco express today to pick up potatoes..We eat so many more when eating well as we don't have frozen chips.

I have just cleaned cupboard out under sink..I have 5 bottles of washing up liquid...that doesn't include the ones I am using. 3 packets of washng up sponges.. 3 bottles of washing liquid amazing what you can see when you clear the mess out.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/01/2015 17:05

great to hear of others' progress.

home made meals... well I am managing that.... the consequence is that things don't get tidied so much and there is a lot more washing up. (something has to give somewhere.)

today I managed to sort through a stack of papers and put the important ones in a box.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/01/2015 17:34

now I need to tackle that washing up, putting shopping away and making a home made meal. I cheat. I used frozen chopped veggies a lot. I also batch cook parts of the meal. I often do a lentil mix to add to bolognsise/chilli ans also do a massive batch of soaked beans to add to bean soups.

currently eating up stuff from the freezer as the sodding hotpoint fridge only works intermittently. this is the second model replacing the first which also only worked intermittently.

minkGrundy · 15/01/2015 19:20

Right seeing this thread has reminded me that although I did get on the exercise bike yesterday, I have done nothing today.
Going to fill a bag of clothes for the recycling and drag it to the shop and put some stuff in the loft.

I am. As soon as I get out from under the duvet. Oh yes.

minkGrundy · 15/01/2015 19:21

blackeye do you freeze the batch cooked beans?

BlackeyedSusan · 15/01/2015 22:22

Freeze the beans, yes, in meal sized portions. microwave to defrost.

That duvet looks very tempting. Did you manage to excercise?

I have been calculating the amount of steps for various activities.

school and back 1500=3000

asda/tesco=3000 ish steps
morrrisons about 200 and aldi about 1500. I try and park at the far end of the car park. next plan is to work out how to get in some extra steps without pissing myself off with the excercise. I am extremely resistent to escercise. hate swimming and getting wet. walking briskly is the way to go.

this evening Ihave managed to wash up, wipe out the microwave, do two loads of washing, though waiting to hang up the otherload..cook a home made bolognaise, clean the bath, and spend about twenty minutes or so on preparing the walls for painting and a bit of tidying as dd appeared to have levitated to reach the far side of the room as I pulled everything out to pick up behind the toy kitchen.

minkGrundy · 16/01/2015 00:52

Managed to recycle and sort some cds.

Apparently walking carrying things, so shopping basket instead of trolley is good free exercise (according to horizon) so did that twice today. Might start using leg waits again for walks to shop etc.

minkGrundy · 16/01/2015 00:52

Weights even!

meglet · 16/01/2015 06:44

I don't know if anyone else is on there, and it is a bit wanky, but I find that pinterest gives me a kick up the backside when I need to tidy.

5 mins on there and I think "oh, instead of looking at lovely home decor I should go and have a quick tidy" Blush

I'm not at work today and I have loads of errands to do but I will find 15 mins to tidy later.

Starlightbright1 · 16/01/2015 12:42

I have done some work paperwork for 15 mins this morning. Just eaten dressed crab salad for lunch with beetroot.. I love beetroot...How come I never love it when I am not on a diet????

Home made sweet and sour chicken is in the slow cooker for tea tonight.. I feel like I have the start of a cold so not expecting great things from myself today.

I did march up a hill today huffing and puffing pushing a pushchair.while thinking this was great exercise..Not through motivations though simply was running late Blush

Rummikub · 16/01/2015 12:49

Hi I've not posted for awhile but does anyone know if a mortgage lender will take into account maintenance that's a private arrangement? I feel like I'm in limbo :(

Meglet I'm on Pinterest too, I'm the same, go on for inspiration. :)

minkGrundy · 16/01/2015 14:39

Was planning a cycle today (couldn't cycle to work, too icy) so was going to go this afternoon but am at home with poorly child.

meglet · 16/01/2015 14:40

For once I skipped the gym (I'd walked loads anyway) and I've had a tidy up. All my laundry has been put away!

OP posts:
meglet · 16/01/2015 14:46

rummi I suspect they won't. I had a mortgage application last year (house move fell through, hopefully something will happen this year) and my current mortgage company and the broker I spoke to said they will only take into account court ordered maintenance through the csa. so the tories plans to stop lp's using the csa and set up private agreements will totally shaft us with the tighter mortgage regulations. I've had rants about the this before Blush . gingerbread or some mp's need to pick up on it.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/01/2015 14:51

arse.

life is difficult enough.

I have done sod all today other than shopping. I have hit the wall of hormones, not enough sleep and one too many things goingwrong.

tomorrow is the day I go hunting for ds and dd's paper work for their dla claim forms.

Rummikub · 16/01/2015 14:52

Thanks meglet. It's so frustrating. I can afford the mortgage payments. It's cheaper than rent, quarter of what rent would would cost round here. It's a private agreement between and ex h so not court ordered. The other thread about how maintenance payments should be counted towards benefit calculations is annoying me too.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/01/2015 15:01

ah yes... I cold not stay on that thread as I may have said something that would get me deleted if not banned.

Rummikub · 16/01/2015 15:31

Susan, î keep getting drawn to it, but it leaves a bad taste.

Starlightbright1 · 16/01/2015 19:01

I have now come down with a virus, I ache have a sinus headache and generally feel awful... So apart from lying on the sofa under a blanket no plans at all. At least no work till Monday if only my 7 year old would look after himself. I have sent him to get some fruit and he has been 5 mins so far refuse to go in till he tells me there is blood

Starlightbright1 · 16/01/2015 19:32

he has managed to return from the kitchen with grapes, satsuma, banana , squirty cream and mini marshmallows. see what they can do

BlackeyedSusan · 16/01/2015 21:25

get well soon star. Brew Cake Biscuit

minkGrundy · 17/01/2015 01:07

That's a bright lad you have their star. He will go far.

Get well. Being an lp is tough when you are ill.

BlackeyedSusan · 17/01/2015 11:40

how are you feeling star? any better?

BlackeyedSusan · 17/01/2015 12:22

well I have started the big saturday tidy. there is a lot of swearing going on. I am still trying to complete last weeks tasks that I set. Xmas Blush
