We can only do the best we can. No point in going on housework threads if you're a working LP who never has a break from the kids. Or if you're a SAHM LP with small kids who can't get to the gym.

So, a thread for us to start the New Year with good intentions and to juggle it around everything else we have to do Smile.

  • I banned Minecraft today and tomorrow after some shocking behaviour (kicking each other in the supermarket) the dc's had a burst of enthusiasm, dysoning and tidying up to get back in my good books.
  • I have managed to get out for a few runs over Xmas. We stayed with my mum for a couple of days so I went out then.

Here's to a positive start to 2015.

well I am off. see you in a couple of hours. keeping my fingers crossed for no meltdowns.

fattymcfatfat · 04/02/2015 18:31

Good news: ds has moved up a stage on reading books, is the top reader in his year
Bad news: ds had a hearing screening test today and failed. Now he has been referred to have a full assessment because he has selective hearing!

BlackeyedSusan · 04/02/2015 19:54

well done to your ds.

I have washed the pots. plant pots this time. and the manky bath toys. need to repot ds's chives in fresh compost.

fattymcfatfat · 04/02/2015 20:22

All the manky bath toys have been binned at my end. I dont understand how a little boy can be so clever yet choose not to hear certain things! Saying that if there is a problem with his hearing I am going to feel so guilty for all the times ive shouted at him just to listen for once!

BlackeyedSusan · 04/02/2015 21:49

these are too expensive to throw away. realistic models sort... the manky ducks get thrown as they are ten-a-penny. I have an enornous lobster in my kitchen waiting to be scrubbed and anti baced to within an inch of it.s life. a charity shop find. that will join the octopus in the trying to stop me turn the taps on game. the crab is the worst though, now that can disguise itself as a spider lurking in the bath. I may have screamed on more than one occasion.

fattymcfatfat · 04/02/2015 22:31

I have kept steve the stingray (my lil bro got it when he was young and it is now ds' s) at the time it was bought I sort of thought it would be funny to name it after steve irwin....I know I know it wasnt funny but it had been a while and it made me giggle a bit. and we have kept the RAF ducks that have never actually been in the bath as they cost me a fiver for three flaming ducks! so I wont have them getting manky!

meglet · 04/02/2015 23:18

fatty binning manky bath toys is very cathartic. got rid of ours last year.

I'm slowly binning the garden toys now. luckily they're so old the plastic is degrading so there's always something broken to bin.

we still have dd#s first birthday present slide in the living room. they still use it but in different ways. ait makes a very good tent and towel dryer.

fattymcfatfat · 05/02/2015 08:01

I love going through ds' s toys every year to make room for new ones on birthday and Christmas. the only thing that he has kept from being a baby is his teddy giraffe, geoffrey he adores that thing! it now looks like frankenstien with how much he has been fixed but oh well.

fattymcfatfat · 05/02/2015 22:50

Sad well then that was unexpected amd uncalled for! ex came to put kids to bed as he had a meeting at work so couldn't see them at regular time. fair enough. all good, until the kids are in bed and he tries to kiss me and grabs my boob!!! ive told him he is no longer welcome in my house and that he is to make arrangements for the kids so he can see them elsewhere. I cant believe he honestly thought that was ok! and then to try and justify it by saying "well you grabbed me when we weee together"......ni shit sherlock, we were in a relationship, now we are not and that is sexual assault!

Starlightbright1 · 06/02/2015 12:54

OMG Fatty ..I don't blame you for your response..How horrible for you?

I am packed and ready for hols, just need to go through paperwork tonight

meglet · 07/02/2015 10:06

fatty are you ok this morning? when do you have to deal with him again?

I'm trying to have a Saturday morning tidy up while shouting supervising homework and spellings.

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 11:09

today!
he has taken them out luckily and has apologised but as I said to him he was out of order. Unfortunately due to court orders etc he has to see them and I would actually rather him be at mine with them then I know they are not being hurt at his families home. Sad
he just wont ever be doing bedtime again, if he has to work he has to work, not my problem. so if he wants to do anything like that again he will have to do it in front of the kids and I will phone the police

meglet · 07/02/2015 12:43

looking for Tidy kitchen inspiration on pinterest. turns out their idea of a small kitchen is twice the size of mine. The one I thought was a tiny kitchen turned out to be one of those naice kids wooden kitchens Hmm .

meglet small rooms are a nightmare! my mum would go mad at me as a child (as the only girl I had the box room) for my bedroom being such a mess but there was literally no space for all.of my stuff!

BlackeyedSusan · 07/02/2015 13:17

oh yes, I look at smal bedroom ideas, most of them are not really small or are american small... one poster on another forum posted their childs bedroom, which was nearly the size of my whole flat.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/02/2015 13:28

I put the washing on and put some water in the bowl to wash up, which will now be cold. I am now off to go and get on and actually do something useful. ds is whining about coming on the computer so that will stop me procrastinating much longer.

Teaching123 · 07/02/2015 16:23

Can I join ladies? I think I qualify. One DD (4) - another arriving in September all things being well. On my own & have been for a long time (complicated!) - and currently a DISGUSTING hole of a house that I'm ignoring!!!

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 17:03

hi teach! Welcome. ..just to inform you housework gets done on a as we can be bothered basis as we tend to jusg moan about it on here! Grin

tangledmess · 07/02/2015 18:33

Hello everyone, I am a recently separated mum of one 14 month old ds and would love to join you! I am currently having a shit day! X

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 18:38

tangled let it all out! my dd is almost 14 months. and bloody hard work!

BlackeyedSusan · 07/02/2015 18:40

literal or metaphorical shit? Witha 14m old there is scope for both.

Well I am back to moan about the little I have got done as I have been sat on my arse eating junk food I have managed washing up, a couple of loads of washing, watering the plants and repotting some chives. we planted some chives last year but they have only got to about 2 inches high max as ds grazes them. there were some living chives reduce in morrisons so have divided and repotted them and keeping them safe in the kitchen to see if they will take before ds grazes them back to soil level. \I did repot the original one too. It was 1.5 cm high with two spindly stems... and a massive root system.

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 18:44

blackeyed you shall now be known as suze as it is easier to type! I have washed the pots and sat on my arse eating Krispy Kreme erm....I bathed dd and put her to bed, ds is sat watching stars in their eyes and bump has started to wriggle and kick! (well I can now feel it anyway)

tangledmess · 07/02/2015 19:18

Haha definitely both kinds of shit! My xp is being horrible and it still bothers me even though we are not together anymore. He just treats us like things he can pick up and drop as and when he pleases. He thinks he's got such a great deal.
Oh and house is a tip x

tangledmess · 07/02/2015 19:20

I really need to fill my weekends with nice plans and meet some nice people to spend them with! It's good to find you guys Smile
