Is there any way to set my profile thingy so that it says on there that I am interested in men between x & y ages, or should I just write it in my bit about me?

I'm sure that the older blokes who have contacted me are lovely, but at 29, I don't really want to meet up with 40yr old men.

How do I reply saying "you're too old" without being a bitch? Or is being a bitch par for the course with these things?

(I'm a regular btw, just don't want family etc knowing about this part of my life just yet)

Urm....

is there anything I can do about someone sending abusive texts messages after giving them my number from pof?

TheJollyPirate · 22/08/2010 12:11

Keep the messages and show them to the police. Not nice to have abusive text messages.

knickers0nmyhead · 22/08/2010 12:13

all because he thought I had blocked him, turns out he had the wrong person.
Has put me off internet dating me thinks Sad

knickers0nmyhead · 22/08/2010 12:15

And, and I have wished cancer upon him Hmm wtf is wrong with some people???

colditz · 22/08/2010 12:16

There's nothing weird about not wanting to be involved with someone else's kids. before I had children, a single father wouldn't have pressedmy buttons, no matter how nice he was. I was selfish until i had my own, and too intolerent to make a pleasant partner to someone with children,.

I was on POF and refused to consider anyone who didn't have children. My BF says he was looking or a single mother after his last girlfriend didn't 'get' that you can't just fuck off round the world for 6 months and still expect your children to want to see you when you get back.

I'm on it. Got a date this week...started another thread on the 'Relationship' section. Have a look!

I don't know whether to go and don't know what to make of it all yet!!!

My friend met her husband on it and said I should give it a go. I did, just out of curiosity really.

Anybody else been on a date yet...what was it like??

lilackaty · 22/08/2010 21:45

Colditz - I just reread my message and that wasn't what I meant - I meant it was weird that they had contacted me when on my profile I said I have 2 kids. That isn't how I made it sound though.

ChaoticAngel · 22/08/2010 22:42

lilackaty I've had the same. I've been 'winked' at by men who have had the answer none next to 'should she have children'.

lilackaty · 25/08/2010 00:47

It's mad isn't it? I don't like match but I think it's because noone has shown any interest which makes me very shallow!

ChaoticAngel · 25/08/2010 16:46

lol I've had a couple of dates from there but no luck so far.

lilackaty · 26/08/2010 22:54

Well, I have been messed around on pof which upset me ridiculously but I find match really hard to navigate. Hope you all have more luck than I do.

Magicmayhem · 27/08/2010 13:56

ladies... do you wait for people to contact you? or do you contact them first?

Met my furture husband on this sight... If I remember rightly, I put in how far I wanted to travel... saw his pic on his profile, thought, what a nice young man...sent him a friendly message to which he responded, we emailed, then moved on to texting, then we chatted on the phone... for hours at a time! I think you can really get to know someones personality enough to know if you'd get on..

I did get people contacting me and I always replied to them, even the 60 year old man who sent me a picture of himself wearing only shorts mowing his lawn... lol
as someone said.. nothing like a nutter to brighten your day!

hope it works out for you ladies... he was the only person I contacted, and I only joined the site because I like the look of him

lilackaty · 27/08/2010 18:48

I usually wait for them to message me but I have been brave and messaged a couple in the last few days.
I am really not sure about internet dating and am so wary now.

lou33 · 27/08/2010 18:59

pof was ok for me, i didnt find my bf on there but i had lots of dates with v normal guys, some of whom i am still in touch with as friends

ChaoticAngel · 27/08/2010 21:27

I've contacted and been contacted. The man I had a date with last Saturday, was from Eharmony and I contacted him first.

AnxiousLand · 07/09/2010 23:34
