Is there any way to set my profile thingy so that it says on there that I am interested in men between x & y ages, or should I just write it in my bit about me?

I'm sure that the older blokes who have contacted me are lovely, but at 29, I don't really want to meet up with 40yr old men.

How do I reply saying "you're too old" without being a bitch? Or is being a bitch par for the course with these things?

(I'm a regular btw, just don't want family etc knowing about this part of my life just yet)

"Plentyoffish is currently down as a result of multipul system failures and service will be restored later today."

Seriously?! "Multipul"?!?!?! Shock

i was rather shocked by that too!

kayah · 10/08/2010 01:02

I had no luck on POF, maybe my profile was crap
or could it be my photo which shows my true self Grin

moomoo1967 · 11/08/2010 14:13

lol I'm just so glad my lovely naive friend didn't sign up looking for an activity partner, I dread to think of the mails she would have received !! Grin

3kidstoomany · 11/08/2010 18:16

i love dating sites for random chats with people! meet some interesting characters too.

then again... i was chatted up by a 30yr old (i'm 40), very flattering too. arranged a date horse-riding, drove 30 miles to get there & he stood me up. lovely.

Angelcat666 · 12/08/2010 16:33

PoF is free so what do you expect lol

There are two options on pof activity partner/intimate encounter which I wouldn't recommend you put unless you're just after sex Grin I'm a member on there too, although I haven't been on for a while. I'm also on Match (I have a second date with someone from there tomorrow.) and a couple of others, which I use with varying levels of freqency.

GreenDemon · 13/08/2010 20:57

I've been chatting to a really nice bloke for the last two days, and now I'm home from my holiday I've been able to look at his profile properly (phone bloody small), and discovered he lives about an hour away. Bah. I wanted more local.

What is the etiquette btw for if you don't like the look of someone?

OP posts:
Angelcat666 · 13/08/2010 22:18

I have to admit that if someone contacts me and I'm not interested I tend to ignore them. I did used to reply to an actual email but did that on one site once and got a load of abuse back so don't bother now.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 13/08/2010 22:55

as angelcat says just ignore, same as if you were in RL

nattybb · 13/08/2010 23:40

I signed up for eharmony with my sister for abit of fun, spent about an hour filling in the form only to get a reply 'WE ARE SORRY, BUT WE HAVE FOUND 0 MATCHES FOR YOU, THIS IS HIGHLY UNUSUAL BUT PLEASE DONT GIVE UP ON YOUR QUEST FOR TRUE LOVE' i didnt know whether to laugh or cry! lol.....

GreenDemon · 13/08/2010 23:47

Oh no! Shock

Will ignore the nutters then :) The bloke who asked me for facebook after ignoring my reply sent me a message about not having replied to him, so I said that he didn't bother actually responding to me so I couldn't be arsed. He's now blocked me :o

GreenDemon · 15/08/2010 23:20

I've been talking to this lovely bloke for the last couple of days, each message has had me smiling or laughing. Then one little thing in his last message about himself rang a bell... I have a horrible feeling that my mate (spends her life on dating sites) may have gone out with him Shock. We have very different tastes, so he could well be perfect for me if she didn't like him, but is it still slightly icky if it is him? Do I tell him if it is (have sent her a message asking for the name of the guy)?!

Seriously. What are the odds of this happening?!?! She goes for executives on sites you have to pay for, not men who work with their hands on free sites. But I remember her saying that she had seen a few non-execs and this thing about his life is fairly rare for a man his age.

Gah.

Angelcat666 · 18/08/2010 20:11

I wouldn't mention it straight away. If you decide to meet him and then like him enough to consider starting a relationship then maybe you could mention her either mention you think he might know her or drop her name into a story about a night out you two (you and her) had.

GreenDemon · 18/08/2010 20:15

I forgot I posted on here :o I spoke to her. She has seen so many men off sites she can't remember his name Shock. She is adamant that she wouldn't have seen a man that would even consider a free site

He is lovely. I don't care if she has seen him or not.

ChaoticAngel · 21/08/2010 09:50

I forgot I posted on here until now too Grin

As for your friend not seeing a man who would even consider a free site, I've seen men on free sites whom I've also seen on paid sites. I use both so a lot of men probably do too.

If he's lovely then go for it, you've nothing to lose.

Good luck Smile

ChaoticAngel · 21/08/2010 09:51

Oops, forgot I changed my name slightly Blush

I was Angelcat666.

MissKGF · 21/08/2010 11:48

Hi, i met my partner on POF! purely by chance wasnt even that inerested in meeting anyone. we are togrether a year now and things are great. However it dosnt always work out like this there are certainly some strange ppl on there, check and double check their details, google them and find out as much as pos before even thinking about meeting them. I didnt say that i had kids (just incase i attracted the wrong person) and after a few dates i told my partner and he accepted it, thats how i knew he was a keeper!! Good luck

purpleduck · 21/08/2010 12:08

"I'm sure that the older blokes who have contacted me are lovely, but at 29, I don't really want to meet up with 40yr old men".

LOL LOL

I am very newly single and really really don't want a guy right now, but i did have a look at some free sight the other night.

Turns out lots of the 40 year olds want 29 yo's Grin

What the hell happens to guys when they turn 40? When you look at the 35 year olds, they are generally nice looking.... 35 - 40 must be tough for guys.... Grin

pinemartina · 21/08/2010 12:44

purpleduck PMSL !!! Agree agree agree - am 42 Confused !!

ChaoticAngel · 21/08/2010 13:15

I'm 38 and I got contacted last night by a 60yr old ShockConfused My profile says 29 - 45. Methinks he should buy some glasses or read the profile properly.

Mind you I do wonder at times whether any of them read my profile. I've specified a height range of 5ft 10in to 6ft 4in. The amount of men 5ft 9in and under who have winked at me is ridiculous Hmm

knickers0nmyhead · 21/08/2010 15:07

I've noticed men don't seem to read profiles properly. Out of 20 people, only 2 put what I asked them to put in my profile.

Just goes to show.

Can't say I have seen anyone that has really jumped out at me yet though Hmm

whiteandnerdy · 21/08/2010 15:49

ChaoticAngel - yeah but what is there in a few inches? Opps oh yeah I remember now Grin Wink Grin.

lilackaty · 21/08/2010 18:10

I'm on match.com and the two people who have contacted me both said on their profile that they want to meet someone without kids. I find that weird.
I'm also on pof and am very pleased to read about people who have met partners on there.

ChaoticAngel · 22/08/2010 00:56
