So who is up for a mumsnet Christmas meal? Possibly not to the same place that tried to fleece us last year! the only dates i cant do are the 10th and the 17th Dec (what a packed social life i have!)

I have no ideas in terms of where to go - i had a lovely meal at Gastro17whatever down East Hill, but it may be a bit pricey at £26 each (not inc drinks) here theres the lemon tree here similar price, erm, where else? We could do indian again - the Maharani is the best in colchester IMHO - or open to any suggestions.

What does everyone think?
jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way...

Just think 1 month today it's Christmas eve!!!

SparklyPrincess · 25/11/2009 08:00

I'm up for a night out. I'm not fussy (well, not much, anyway!) so wherever is fine with me.

Don't mind when either, don't have much booked in so far - should probably get a date arranged and something booked asap though.

Good thinking to mention this, Pooter!

Mung · 25/11/2009 15:20

It always takes us 3 weeks top set a date...so it may be a New Year meal!

We could go for something not too Christmassy...like pizza for example. Wont we all be fed up of Christmas dinners. I'd prefer a Friday or Saturday, but haven't got my diary to hand to check out the dates.

Mung · 25/11/2009 15:21

Pooter you and I cannot eat anything for a main course at Gastro! I have not heard good things about the Lemon Tree either.

pooter · 25/11/2009 15:47

Ah - hadn't thought that you might be avoiding goat's cheese - im being a bit blase about those things this time round (well, was first time too.. - i MUST have my cheese!!)

Just to annoy everyone, i cant stand pizza! Quite happy to go somewhere for pasta though. Am already going for my old school bio department meal at Ask - what about prezzos - anyone been?

Fri or sat night fine by me. Anyone else?

Mung · 25/11/2009 17:22

Or there is Zizzi...

purpleflower · 25/11/2009 17:33

I would love to come again, I really enjoyed last year.

Friday or Saturday nights are good for me

NormaSknockers · 25/11/2009 19:59

Date depending I'd be up for it

Pooter I'm with on the cheese front, I was a bit shall we say relaxed with my cheese intake during my pregnancies

When you get a date I'll check it with DH's shifts!

lucyfer2000 · 26/11/2009 18:02

count me in. i'm not too fussy on dates at the mo as long as it is not next weekend.

Somewhere not expensive would be preferable for me. Zizi sounds fine - or what about noodly type affair??

Shall I do the drinking for all the pregnant people this year??

pooter · 26/11/2009 18:25

well, Zizzi looks good - have a look at the menu here im afraid i fancy the 19.95 menu above the 15.95one, but maybe they will mix and match so we can all have what we fancy. mmmm the aubergine thingy sounds yummmmm.

Any other takers? I will give it a couple of days then ring Zizzis with some date queries if thats ok with everyone.

NormaSknockers · 26/11/2009 19:20

Menu looks lovely - I may have to get directions else I may end up driving round for ages looking lost (still finding my feet....or rather wheels!)

Saz126 · 27/11/2009 11:34

Sounds yummy, will try to make it depending date. Haven't seen you all for ages x

Mung · 28/11/2009 09:02

I dont mind which menu.
Shall we have a think about the 18th/19th December or is that just too close to the big day?

Lucyfer...drink away for me...I will enjoy watching it!

Congratulations Norma on passing your driving test...I didn't realise you had done it already.

NormaSknockers · 28/11/2009 09:26

Thanks Mung, took 3 attempts but I got there in the end

pooter · 28/11/2009 18:21

18th or 19th is fine for me - anyone else?

OP posts:
Sawyer64 · 28/11/2009 20:19

Can't do 18th as working a Night(from Home) Might be too knackered tired for 19th,so may have to count me out sadly.

lucyfer2000 · 28/11/2009 22:46

Hi all! Just realised that i probably can't do the 18th/19th either. unfortunately that really only leaves the weekend before hand -- 11/12th that I can do. leaves only the weekend before hand for me which means I am rather restricted with dates after all. No worries if it doesn't fit in with everyone else - maybe it suddenly is very close to christmas!!

pooter · 29/11/2009 05:35

so how is the 11th 12th for everyone - fine for me!

OP posts:
NormaSknockers · 29/11/2009 07:03

I'm waiting on some updated shifts from DH, should be able to check shifts tonight

Sawyer64 · 29/11/2009 17:56

Could do the 12th but not the 11th.

purpleflower · 29/11/2009 21:39

11th or 12th is good for me

SparklyPrincess · 29/11/2009 22:10

Sorry, forgot to check back!

Love Zizzi's and whenever is fine

pooter · 30/11/2009 05:01

So MUNG and SAZ and anyone else - can you do teh 12th??

OP posts:
Sawyer64 · 30/11/2009 07:22

NormaSknockers · 30/11/2009 07:53
