Hi all you Crouch Enders out there! Any mummies to be fancy chatting & exchanging information on what is on locally for pregnancy?, or just baby chat in general?! I am due in the summer with baby number 1! Look forward to hearing from you! I am free for coffee too! x

Hi Juicy

Not in CE but a couple of miles away, but a regular visitor. I'm actually expecting a second baby any time now. I can tell you about local stuff closer to the time for bringing your baby out and about to. Park Road swimming pools offer aquanatal swimming classes on early Monday/Wednesday evenings, £5 a time but you can get in cheaper or free depending on monthly membership payments. I intended to carry on going but various things have come up and I've been very tired....

I'd be up for meeting up for coffee before or after your baby for a little while (probably back at work at end October/early November) - Priory Park has a small cafe next to a paddling pool. Some of my other former haunts have closed down but I'm sure there'll still be good places to hang out.

Hey there Elkiedee!
Thanks for your message, I am brand new to this site so it's really nice to have a lovely message so early on.
So park road aqua, I have discovered, was actually there on Monday & will be going tomorrow- it's a great class with a fab teacher too. A meet up would be great too, when are you due with number two?

Hi JGP and Elkiedee

Perhaps I'll spot you at at Weds eve Park Road aquanatal (depends tho - I have an antenatal class directly before so may make it or may not).

I am: late 30s, short hair, wearing grey swimming costume and slightly pained expression as I wouldn't normally deign to be seen riding a giant foamy woggle, swanlike, round a kiddy swimming pool, whilst six year olds point and stare from the shower area

elkiedee · 02/02/2009 11:31

mrsbaldwin, I might try to make it Wednesday but kind of doubtful at the moment, I'm at the very apathetic stage of pregnancy (a week overdue today).

However, if I don't maybe we can try and meet up sometime when our babies turn up, I think you're just a few weeks behind me?

mrsbaldwin · 02/02/2009 14:17

A week overdue? Gosh - I can see why you would be apathetic! By Weds you may well be on the way .. hopefully. Or maybe you just need prodding with a foamy woggle ... not

Yes, mine is due sometime in March - I am about week 35 atm.

Yes would be nice to meet up after that!

Juicygirlpink · 02/02/2009 15:41

Hi there ED & MrsB,
So I guess neither of you are heading off to Park road tonight with the snow & all? I am going to aim for wednesday instead, I am the one in the turqoise bikini (completely inappropriate for pg I know but not finding the swimsuit thing very comfy!), I am due in June. Good luck Elkiedee! MrsB I love your impression of our aqua class- bang on!
Have either of you tried the pg yoga at finsbury park (by the tube?), I went last thursday for the first time, found lying with my legs at a 90 degree angle half way up a wall strangely relaxing!

I've called the labour ward to tell them I'm coming in this evening. Feeling twingy all day but didn't dare to get my hopes up until consultant at my appointment said "no need for induction discussion, you're 3-4 cm dilated". He then sent me for a bit of monitoring in the Day Unit - results fine but very apparent from their machine readings that I was actually contracting.

mrsbaldwin · 02/02/2009 17:56

Ah great - well, we won't see you at aquanatal then! Good luck!

Juicygirlpink · 02/02/2009 19:36

Best of luck!!! Will be lovely to hear whether it's a boy or girl once you are all home and well!

I only joined this site last week but i have found really good, everyone is so friendly , it;s been good for me especially after resigning from facebook!

Hi JGP - thanks for your prompt reply. I am due at the end of May, it's our first baby. We have been living in the area for some time, but I don't know any pregnant ladies with whom i can get in touch, so hope this site will be my life saver. Tried to sign for NCT classes in the area, but nothing available except one course in East Finchley. Do you have any info on local antenatal classes? Speak soon.

Juicygirlpink · 05/02/2009 15:20

Hey again Moshka,

Well antenatal classes- I managed to get onto the NCT course in crouch end but it took a lot of work, the staff were very friendly but apparently when I applied in november they were all ready full - for march! So they have managed to squeeze me on. (they offered me finchley too but i never go there!). There are some other good courses around, the babymoon is worth checking out (think they are in muswell hill).
You may have seen on previous posts that some of us go to the antenatal aqua at park road on mondays & wednesdays (all though we are yet to meet up!). The other thing that I have enjoyed is the yoga at yoga junction on a thursday at 11.15 which is a drop in class great if you are not working!
Do you fancy meeting for a coffee sometime? I feel exactly the same as you, I have been here for 6 years but just don't know anyone who is pregnant!

Hi there...I live in Highgate and have a 12 week old daughter....would love to meet up as well as I don't know any other mums in the area!

Moshka · 06/02/2009 11:47

Hi everybody

It will be great to catch up. I am still working, but may be able to do one afternoon anyway. Muswell hill and Crouch End will be best for me, but I also can come to Highgate - just really look forward to meeting you guys.

mrsbaldwin · 06/02/2009 15:09

Hi there all

It would be great to meet but sadly I am still working at mo (and likely for at least another 3 weeks unless baby arrives early). Never mind! I'll look back into this thread again once I'm off - and in the meantime may see you at Park Road aquanatal!

MrsB

Juicygirlpink · 06/02/2009 17:44

hi all mummies & mummies to be!
Ok so how about a coffee at starbucks in muswell hill (next to m&s) we could meet downstairs as it's often quiet down there and it would be easier to identify one another !
Shall we go for an afternoon so that hopefully Moshka you can sneak out of work?
Thursdays or fridays are best for me, could we all try & arrange a day/ time that works? I am flexible as a non-worker so please let each other know- lets go for next week though if possible & get the ball rolling!
And a reminder - antenatal aqua at park road monday 7pm!
oh & welcome jenl!

Hi all, I got home late this afternoon with baby Conor - I knew he was going to be a boy. I'll keep an eye out for meet up plans whether sooner or later. I can do any day but I don't know about next week, and I'm quite keen to get back to the local breastfeeding support group which is on Thursday am (I didn't manage it first time round and was terribly sad about it, this time I hope and am beginning to think I might do better but am still keen to access all the help on offer).

Juicygirlpink · 07/02/2009 08:36

Congrats on Connor Elkieedee,

Hope you are both A ok How much did he weigh? How was the birth? How are you feeling/ doing?

We would love to see you, would another day of the week be better for you? Or is it all a bit much for now? Let us know

wobbegong · 07/02/2009 19:27

Elkiedee, congratulations! Just in case you would like to see someone before Thursday, I have discovered that there is going to be an NCT breastfeeding counsellor at the NCT playgroup 'Bumps Babes and Tiddleypeeps' on Tuesday 10 Feb (3-4.30pm) at CUFOS, top of The Avenue. Just a one-off- she's not there every week.

elkiedee · 08/02/2009 06:08

Wobbegong, thanks for that but I don't think I can make it to CUFOS on Tuesday. I'm not sure when I'll be ready to make it out for real but I will certainly be in touch juicy.

And wobbegong, I hope at some point to catch up with you again - we had a meet up one Wednesday in Jan/Feb 2008 just before I went back to work - 9 of us from mumsnet and babies - there were at least 20 other mums and babies at several different gatherings in the same pub in Crouch End, called the Maynard while we were in there! - a group of men without babies in tow popped in but I think they felt a bit out of place.
