Apparently there's a bear hunt going on upstairs .

sillybigsausage · 02/09/2008 09:50

Bear Hunt?

bunyanvillas · 02/09/2008 09:51

OMG what a horrid day! My day commenced at 4.24am with a teething ds followed by the news, a couple of hours later, that dd had done a p** in her potty (yes, we are seriously regressing here) and well now we shall see how the rest of the day pans out! Library visit when ds awakes followed by shortbread making session. Sausage, oh yes definitely to a cuppa but can't make this Weds as we have a home visit from the new nursery teacher! (Hence shortbread baking.)

MOrning all. Yep very damp here. DH was most reluctant to head of to work. He is looking forward to tomorrow when the school run starts again and he gets a lift to the station every morning . Have bought sll the bits to make the cake stand for Saturdays christening. Have also got a load of paper, glue, glitter etc for the children to entertain themselves with whilst I make it (will try not to obsess about the mess they will obviously creat .

Sj thinking about it, with these 2 comissions, dd going back to school this week and ds starting his new nursery next week, plus car being repaired (did I mention some idiot broke my drivers side wing mirror the morning before we left for France so we spent 2 weeks driving around with it held in place by gaffer (sp) tape?) and dd having hospital appointments, I think it may be a couple of weeks before I can commit to meeting up. Will keep you posted!

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 10:21

good morning all

bunyan sympathy rubbish start shortbread should make it better

slng did the bear escape or chased them home?

susie glad to her he turned up, hope dd feels better

cov happy baking, dh really not enthusiastic about going to work today he cycles there

all relaxed and quiet here except for dd insistence on fasting she is on complete ban on snacks until lunch now
her grampa sent her a letter saying how proud he was of her going to preschool she is sort of basking now

bunyanvillas · 02/09/2008 13:04

Talking about regression - ds is taking his lunchtime nap in his cot - and dd has suddenly decided to resurrect the lunchtime sleep that she quit when she was 2!!

rosmerta · 02/09/2008 13:52

sfx, glad you've resolved the godmother issue as much as you can.

bunyan, sympathies for the bad start, has it got any better? Am up for Thursday meet, Lollipop has opened again this week so perhaps we could meet there?

Not sure what to do this afternoon, I seem to have started hibernating early so really should make an effort and get out of the house. Maybe go to the library & then ds can do some puddle jumping on the way.

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 14:00

off to do some puddle jumping sun came out a bit so best the chance

bunyan so some regressions are worst than other s?

SJ99 · 02/09/2008 14:44

Slng - so was the bear found?

Cov - no worries, just give me a shout when you a have min. Good luck with the cakes

Bunyan - sorry for crappy start to the day, bizarre about the regression. At least you can have a break while they both snooze!

Sfx & Ros - enjoy the puddle jumping!

Well, DS loved preschool, after 5 tentative mins of sussing out the place and his carer he got stuck in so they asked me to go and return in an hr. When I came back he didn't want to leave! So they said I could try and leave him 2hrs on Fri and see how that goes.

bunyanvillas · 02/09/2008 15:07

Oh, good one re: settling in, SJ. Hope all puddle jumpers had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Ros, yes - let's do Lollipop on Thurs. This gives me some time to mentally prepare myself Off to bake shortbread now.

rosmerta · 02/09/2008 15:07

sj, glad ds's first session went well!

rosmerta · 02/09/2008 15:29

So much for my getting out, ds just wants to sit in the chair with his blanket on! No doubt when its teatime he'll want to go out then!

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 15:31

SJ that is great well done mini SJ

we ended up going to the shops to get toothbrush and toothpaste for nursery, or pre school because I am actually a big girl and big girls go to pre school

and ooops somehow I bought two tops for myself how did that happen?

not to keep on baking now but would love a snooze

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 15:32

not too keen that should be clearly am too tired

rosmerta · 02/09/2008 15:35

sfx, that happens to me as well (top buying I mean)

Am I a bad mother to carry on writing an essay while ds watches a bit of tv?

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 15:42

oh that reminds me have a phone tutorial tonight for my new course, another shorty

should really browse the books

when dd is around I can just about make some notes and write a few idea sentences but not a proper essay, for that I need to be alone I like to write most of it in a sitting

rosmerta · 02/09/2008 15:44

what's the new course in?

Tbh, its more notes on the observation I did I'm writing atm so not much concentration needed!

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 15:50

it is about health and how it relates to society politics etc

hopefully it will be part of a degree but I will have to start doing some more demanding courses to add up to my points
but for the moment I am doing things which keep my options open

rosmerta · 02/09/2008 15:51

Sounds really interesting.

I would love to go back to uni & do a masters or something but won't happen for quite a few years I think. In the meantime, its good having this course to keep my brain ticking over

slng · 02/09/2008 16:14

We went to the science museum again!

Anyway, back now.

Bear hunt apparently involves piling ALL the pillows and cushions on DS1's bed to make a mountain, and crawling under the bed with a torchlight. Oh well, at least we wouldn't need to clean under the bed for a while again... Not sure if presence of bear is essential to bear hunt but there is a DS2-sized bear on the bed mountain.

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 16:38

it is so wonderful that those great museums are free must go back soon

slng · 02/09/2008 16:52

Kids watching pink panther cartoons now. Is it suitable for kids? DH thinks so and the kids are grinning.

bunyanvillas · 02/09/2008 17:21

I have just spent ages making a fish pie using some nice pieces of salmon and cod. Have just had to throw the entire thing in the bin - used fish sauce instead of fish stock, it is so salty and horrid it is inedible.

I am

Have texted dh re emergency bottle of wine.

Let's hope the banana and apple cake is ok. Shortbread wasn't a goer in the end as weevils in the cornflour. Yuk.

Wish I was Cov!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 02/09/2008 17:24

she accepts orders these days bunyan

nevermind rough day with extra early start be kind to yourself get the bottle and take away or even just toast and whatever is around
a sort of thrown together mix and match living room picnic

bunyanvillas · 02/09/2008 17:30

I first read that as "living room panic". Well that's what it feels like.

Thank goodness cake seems ok, nice - slightly tart which I like.

Off now to cobble together panic-dinner and then inject some valium.
