Hello

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 02/09/2008 18:06

Bunyan sounds like a bit of a rough day at your's. Hope the wine has the soothing effect required and hope tomorrow is a better one.

Right kids are bathed, fed, everything ready for first day of school tomorrow. Cake stand made. Supper in oven (for dh and I). Am I dreadful to be pleased dd is going back to school tomorrow? I have soo much to do and she is bored so really playing up!

SJ99 · 02/09/2008 20:30

Bunyan - hope you're enjoying the wine. On the bright side at least the cake turned out alright. Hope you have a better day tomorrow

Ros - did you make it out in the end?

Cov - no it's not dreadful, I suspect it's quite normal, typically you'll probably end up missing her when she's back at school

Sfx - the tops must've jumped into your bag when you weren't looking

Susie - thanks for your impromptue visit , hope your DD has a good rest tonight. DS out like the proverbial light

I have one of my best friend's from uni coming tomorrow to visit with her 2 boys (18mths & 3.5yrs). I'm really hoping weather will be nice enough to head out, otherwise could get a bit crazy staying in all day. Looking fwd to catching up with her.

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 20:33

SJ dd has something she wants to give to your ds but I thought I'd run it bu you first
it is a second hand Beatrix Potter little book we have a few of the series and dh bought one we already have she said she would like to give it to miniSj
it is about the flopsy bunnies

SJ99 · 02/09/2008 20:43

Aww that's really sweet, I'm sure he would love to read it, thank you He has a Beatrix Potter bowl/mug set so he'd probably like a story about the bunnies!

rosmerta · 02/09/2008 20:45

sj, no we didn't. Ds just ran away every time I tried to get his trousers on! We ended up playing in my bed after tea which was still lots of fun.

bunyan, hope you got the wine from dh!

slng · 02/09/2008 20:49

Would you pack spare clothes for child starting reception?

rosmerta · 02/09/2008 20:55

Don't know slng, probably wouldn't hurt just in case.

So no-one around this week to meet up?

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 20:58

slng nursery asks for sunscrean toothbrush and spare clothes

SJ ok will keep it aside apparently he is a 'lovely boy I know' as she told dh

ros about course yes I hope it turns out to be interesting
dd has days like that too but lately she is very keen on looking for spiders and slugs of which there have been plenty about

SJ99 · 02/09/2008 20:59

LOL at miniRos, he clearly didn't want to go out then! May come to Lollipop with you on Thurs if I can get the car, depends when DH back

Slng - no idea but you could take some along anyway. BTW I liked the sound of the bear hunt

SJ99 · 02/09/2008 21:01

SFX - tahnks and Last week DS told DH he'd been playing at Minisfx house and was telling him all about her new bedroom & that he played on the 'campoota'

sfxmum · 02/09/2008 21:06

dh is settling dd tonight we finally got on with not being in her room until she falls asleep and have been just outside
he is not doing great, she talks he answers I don't, he even goes sshh but daddy comes the reply

she gets bored very quickly with me and turns her back at least he has his book

slng · 02/09/2008 21:10

sfx - toothbrush at nursery? Very organised.

Will probably put in spare clothes ... Did set DS1 this evening upon plastic containers in plastic containers cupboard to see which ones he could open himself so we can put packed lunch in. He wanted to pack ice cream for pudding ...

Kewcumber · 02/09/2008 22:16

Bunyan - you know you can buy shortbread, right?

rosmerta · 03/09/2008 08:08

well, we had a very early start today , ds woke up at 1am & didn't go back to sleep until nearly 4am even after I took him into bed with me, then up again at 7 . Not sure what we'll do today again, might be easier to stay in to avoid the probably tantrums!

Hope everyone else had a better night!

Paddlechick666 · 03/09/2008 08:28

toothbrush and toothpaste at pre-school? i'm intrigued!

dd came home from pre-school with a toothbrush last term but it was an adult one and they weren't allowed to use them LOL.

ros, tough night. hope you have a cruisy day.

dd woke up in a very crotchety mood today but slept 11 hours so not sure what's going on with her. the usual "don't want to go" to CMs but honestly she has such a lot of fun there. think perhaps will get easier as the older kids are back at school today.

rang dd's pre-school yesterday having heard nothing from them only to find they started back yesterday! well, CM had plans for today and I have plans for Friday so she won't be starting till next week now.

am very cross about their total lack of contact. they said only new parents got information by post as dd's would have been given at the end of last term. well, no, it wasn't actually!

might do some research and move her to a different setting.

when i have time that is, mental busy at work and not helped by having Thurs/Fri off.

slng, hope ds1 has a great time today.

hope everyone else is well.

rosmerta · 03/09/2008 08:36

thanks paddle. Btw, was wondering if the stamp duty changes have any bearing on your possible move? If they'd cancelled it entirely then I think we'd have taken the chance and put the house on the market but as it is we'll still be here for a couple of years yet!

sfxmum · 03/09/2008 08:38

good morning all

slng best of luck for today

ros hope day goes smoothly

paddle that sounds a bit strange about the school I mean.

we will walk over a bit later, she can be in from quite early but I think we will take it slowly. the toothbrush is that she will have lunch there and they brush teeth afterwards

night wasn't particularly restful but not too bad either dd woke up twice which is unususal these days

bunyanvillas · 03/09/2008 09:01

Poor Ros. I think beebies may be your friend today! Paddle, dd has now finished at that pre-school. I was happy with the care she received there plus the structure of play etc - but yes, communication is not their strong point and I came unstuck here a couple of times, turning up for things totally unprepared when yet all the other parents seemed to know exactly what was going on! Had a few irate moments. At this end we have another 3 weeks before starting the new pre-school!

Aiming for a good day here. Teacher visit this morning (hence baking yesterday). Will attempt to do something with chicken for tea. Please send me good vibes for some success!

ros, the stamp duty thing won't have any bearing on me I'm afraid. My sale price is over the threshold, as you would expect for the majority of London properties. It really does nothing for Londoners.

I think I will be here another year at least now. The prospect of moving in order to rent isn't attractive at the moment. Plus the stress of being a landlord again in renting this place out doesn't appeal.

I may have to do it next year when dd is due to start school nursery but I'm hoping I can sell by then.

Paddlechick666 · 03/09/2008 09:07

bunyan, i quite like the setting too but I know my CM isn't so impressed. Partly I think it's difficult for her to do drop offs etc due to teh parking issues and having other mindees. I'm a bit as she recommended it in the first place!

Mind you, since then she's been on a few courses with staff from there and has been a bit surprised at their attitudes!

Just rang a very popular one near where you used to live but they are full. Might go and visit and get on the waiting list tho.

Good luck with the home visit and chicken, try not to confuse the two won't you!

stepfordwife · 03/09/2008 09:20

slng · 03/09/2008 09:39

Morning all!

DS1 off to school, after 3 tantrums in the morning about juice, milk and fire engines. Funny how grubby the new uniform is after being on for five minutes - dirt, nutella, snot etc ... And we forgot the bookbag and had to double back to get it. Anyway he went off without much trouble, but DS2 was very upset and wanted to go with him and didn't want to go back to nursery.

Paddle - for us bad communication from nursery is the norm... Our nursery has zero (or even negative, if that's possible) communication and the management is appalling, but the children seem free and bold and happy, which to me is the important bit. So I tear my hair out in private about the manager but continue to send the children there ...

What's this homevisit thing?

stepfordwife · 03/09/2008 09:43

sing, it's when teachers from the nursery come to visit new children at home before they start.
you convince yourself becauseit's
a) they fancy a nose
b) they're checking your skirting board for dust
c) to see how - non-PC alert - dim your child is as they refuse to 'perform"

in reality (tho think point a is probably true) they want to see child in home setting so they feel comfortable, etc. think it's a good idea.

Paddlechick666 · 03/09/2008 09:46

i thought it was to prove that you live where you say you do.

honestly, that's what i thought it was for.

Kewcumber · 03/09/2008 09:47

PAddle that was my suspicion too but then I'm a cynic!
