Hello

OP posts:
mellow2 · 01/09/2008 11:46

Thanks Kew. I've just booked a taxi. But I'll keep Riverside in mind for next time.

Kewcumber · 01/09/2008 11:48

have alovely time - how long are you going for?

rosmerta · 01/09/2008 11:52

hi all, ds seems ok, we've been out this morning just to the shops & the park. Definitely has a little cold but is still running around with rest stops!

Mellow, hope you have a nice time!

mellow2 · 01/09/2008 12:12

Thanks everyone. I'm sure we'll have a good time. We're going for a week, Kew.

sfxmum · 01/09/2008 12:15

oh cripes my godmother sent me a message via my cousin that she is coming to London tomorrow and wants to see me
sorry complicated history but I am in shock and don't know what to do
I could do without this to mess with my head

Kewcumber · 01/09/2008 12:34

perhaps I could meet her for you and you could see my father in exchange . Absolutely undetsand about the not getting your head around it business. Can only suggest taking DD and going someone busy to keep conversation superficial if you decide to meet.

sfxmum · 01/09/2008 12:38

well I suspect it has something to do with my father they were friends hence why I have not seen her in 20yrs
she sent me her numbers asking me to contact her today as she arrives here tomorrow and would like to meet
honestly if it is about my father the only thing she could say is that he is dead which I doubt as I probably would have heard by now

otherwise what does she want to talk about?
it is really unsettling me
anyway should go out with dd and clear my head
wasn't expecting that when I opened my email

thanks KC

bunyanvillas · 01/09/2008 12:47

Good idea to take dd. Then you can come up with something and make a speedy gettaway if necessary.

Rubbish day here, no particular plans and feeling Monday-ish

OP posts:
sfxmum · 01/09/2008 12:50

do you mean I can't be rude and tell her exactly why I am leaving?
sorry for outpouring I wasn't expecting this

share your Monday feeling Bunyan dd is asking for Kew and I am hoping she settles for new trainers from local shop

sillybigsausage · 01/09/2008 13:02

Hi SFX - could you text her and as her what its all about? May be say "I'm all booked up tomorrow, coul you let me know what you need to eet about?"..or something?

At least then you can get your head around it.

I have a problem too - we are booked to go to Camber this weekend and DH's employers are insisting he works (he, typically, neglected to book in the leave yet)

Am not sure what to do as being down there alone with 3DCs is not appealing ....not sur whether to:

cancel and just lose the money
try and sell the hol to someone ('tis very cheap if anyone ineterested)
invite a friend avec DC...

rosmerta · 01/09/2008 13:19

sfx, sorry no advice from me though I think taking dd & sbs's advice is good. Hope you manage to get your head round it all.

sbs, it seems a shame to lose a holiday, I'd probably try to find someone to go with first & then sell it on. Am sure someone will take it up either way.

sfxmum · 01/09/2008 14:36

SBS I would get someone else to go a holiday is a holiday

many thanks all hadn't thought of texting not sure if one of the numbers is a mobile

took dd to get some trainers forgot about school start and it was packed, but she was very keen on the light up shiny trainers and waited patiently
now testing its light upness jumping around

SJ99 · 01/09/2008 14:43

SBS - I would try and salvage hols if poss and see if you can persuade someone to go with you if DH can't make it

Sfx - SBS approach is good, you could plan for a busy day and just say you can only meet for xx amount of time to keep it short. Can imagine it's playing on your mind.
On plus side, glad minisfx is liking her new trainers!

Mellow - have an excellent holiday!! Glad you got taxi sorted

Bought buggy board today. DS wants to ride it already even though not assembled, would look strange with empty seat in front

Kewcumber · 01/09/2008 14:43

can you text in portuguese wihout the funny wibbly signs?

sfxmum · 01/09/2008 14:56

KC will have to I guess
I suppose she is coming for a general visit am tempted to ignore.
there is some florid language passed on saying it is her greatest hope I will replyfunny when it mattered she was nowhere to be found

SJ dd often insists on riding on the platform of the pushchair it is like a mini buggy board

slng · 01/09/2008 15:32

Hi all!

Just back from the science museum with DS1 and exhausted. One more day to play tomorrow, but probably won't do anything quite so hectic.

sfx - text and tell her it's to your greatest surprise to hear from her. If you don't see her would you be spending a lot of time wondering what it's all about?

sillybigsausage · 01/09/2008 15:39

Slng was it crowded?

slng · 01/09/2008 15:40

sbs - yes. Launchpad was packed, mostly with grandparents hoarding the games. The Garden was less pack but still busy.

mellow2 · 01/09/2008 15:41

sj - Thanks!
sfx - I can understand why you dread it. But I'm afraid I'm not very good with dealing with this sort of thing. I normally duck if I can.

Right, better get on with packing.

sfxmum · 01/09/2008 15:43

sounds good slng but I always avoid the launchpad the bit by the blue restaurant is interesting and dd likes all the machines too

have never ventures there by myself just not that brave

SJ99 · 01/09/2008 16:30

This so funny, I popped round quickly next door to introduce myself and to ask about a babysitter as we need one next mth. Anyway DS didn't want to leave after few mins so he is still there , she said she'd bring him back later. At least it means I can cook dinner in peace

Slng - I keep meaning to head back to science museum, will go again in autumn once schools gone back. Glad you had a good trip

slng · 01/09/2008 16:34

sfx - we spent most of the time at the Garden. The water play is good.

The problem with the science museum is that there's nothing to eat that I fancy. We had picnic. But it's just not satisfying ...

We ought to get another school jumper at some point, but it just seems too much hassle ... Not sure what we'll do tomorrow. Kew if not pouring down, Chinese supermarket and dimsum if it is, I think.

Paddlechick666 · 01/09/2008 16:35

sj, do you pick your properties based on babysitter potential?

hello all, very busy weekend but a lot of fun.

i am chuntering around trying to plan a kitche. feckin HELL, they are expensive.

what i'm really doing is distracting myself from work

dd first day back at CM and had the usual "i don't want to go, i don't like X & Y (cm's kids)" it still breaks my heart to hear it and it'd be a lot easier if were other mindees not the CM's kids.

i can't be precious about it tho, i'm lucky that she's in a mixed age environment especially as she has no close siblings.

i have missed her today that's for sure!

hope everyone else well.

slng · 01/09/2008 16:35

sj - which madhur jaffrey book do you have?

SJ99 · 01/09/2008 16:46

Paddle - tis a good strategy I found out that she is CM next door, lives alone with her 11yr old boy. I thought she might be able to help out with one of her contacts, fingers crossed. I was just so surprised DS wanted to stay as he'd never been there before. Oh well, hopefully he will be as relaxed at preschool tom, zikes, can't beleive it's coming round so quickly.

Is minipads still having probs with CM's DC then?

Slng - I bought MJ book ages ago when I was about 15yrs old, my mum has it now, it was the first one she wrote, I forget the name. Most of the Indian cookery I do is what I learnt from my mum, stuff you won't really get in restaurants
