Quite how far and wide are we MN-ers spread?

I'm in Egypt with my 3-mo multicultural DD (DH is Egyptian-Kurdish-British and we work in aid/social and cultural development). Although I'm occasionally homesick, I'm very happy that our LO will get a varied perspective of life, as well as being bilingual.

I see there are MN-ers as far away from the UK as UAE, S. Africa, Australia and NZ, as well as Europe.

How far afield and off the beaten track do we MN-ers get? From A(fghanistan) to Z(ambia)?

Just outside Brussels, so not exotic either. They do do a good Xmas market at this time of year though. Vin chaud, nom nom.

I am completely fascinated by Qintessentials northern Norway descriptions.

slim22 · 02/01/2010 05:15

1.22 north
103.48 east
also very small island in SE Asia

esselle · 02/01/2010 05:25

I'm in Melbourne.

Not very far off the beaten track at all but a long way from the UK.

There are a few of us Mnetters here and we meet up often.

mummy2WLH · 02/01/2010 05:30

I am in Brunei Borneo here.

nooka · 02/01/2010 05:37

I'm another Canadian (Interior BC) - 50° 43' N 120° 25' W. So not much further north than London where I come from, just a little colder. Whilst we're on the facts and figures, altitude 1499 (maybe that's why it's colder!).

QwertyQueen · 02/01/2010 06:22

I am in Cape Town
Just returned after 12 years in London....

mamaloco · 02/01/2010 06:45

Bucharest, exotic in a new kind of way! before that the most exotic was a small fishing town 500 km north from Tokyo on the pacific side...

mumoverseas · 02/01/2010 08:22

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Not exotic

Starmummy · 02/01/2010 08:39

Dubai, sunny today after yesterdays rain

frakkinaroundthechristmastree · 02/01/2010 13:37

Reunion island, Indian ocean

Been here a week and already think I've found the only other Brit on the island and persuading her to join MN.

Themasterandmargaritas · 02/01/2010 18:16

I'm in Kenya. Bang on the Equator (give or take a couple of hundred miles).

Yes please! I miss cold. And snow.

But it's not nice heat here at the moment-very humid and oppressive.

StanleyFletcher · 03/01/2010 23:40

Manila, Philippine Islands. Very hot. Yum! Not sure if any other MNers here....?

(oops - meant to say originally from UK)

mvem it's very difficult, we only cane beg if November and already escaped to Seattle for a break. The isolation gets to us, we were prev in Montreal. It is expensive to leave as monopoly on flights and vancouver us 17 hr drive. On the plus side, beautiful scenery, about 4 hrs from Alaska, so will def visit there, and little to spend $ on, so should be able to save loads. The company flies us out every 6 months as well so it's not all bad. Much warmer here than Montreal so no -20 and below to cope with And the snow, we get tonnes but that is part of the fun. Supposed to be great fishing in the summer, but will also have to deal with bears then too.
