Hello ZZZen

I'm lurking and when I get ready to post, DS wants me to rebuild his latest lego disaster, or DD shrieks for a nappy change or a feed, or the dog whines to be let out because he hasn't had a walk in two weeks. Am feeling so disorganised and tired and sore but thankfully Mum is here to make cups of tea and wash and iron but she goes back to Blighty on Thursday .

Am very happy though, 'cos with DS I had really bad ante- and post-natal depression but with DD there's absolutely nothing so I'm able to enjoy the baby this time around.

DD is looking a little less Gelb and is only waking once during the night; she goes down at 10.30, wakes at 3-ish for a feed, then sleeps through till 7, which I think is fab! Am knocking back that disgusting Stilltee, though I'd rather a Guinness.

Everyone has very full lives at the mo; hello NTTP and Alice. I read with interest the posts about the bullying problem and was really impressed with how people were tackling it head-on. Got badly bulled for six effing years and parents didn't really do anything about it (apart from the classic "just keep out of their way" which is utterly useless as advice. Keep up the good work!

Must now disappear and take DS back to KG for afternoon session....

ZZZen · 08/06/2009 13:36

Good to hear from you Frosch! Great to hear that dd is coming along well. Bet you're feeling utterly whacked though with a baby, a toddler and a dog. (Not to mention dh!) Was he there for the birth in the end?

You definitely sound like you deserve a guiness - if not a big bottle of vodka. What is this disgusting Stilltee? I never had to drink that stuff.

Bullying seems really widespread. The more you talk about it, the more you hear other people have experienced it. It was one thing that (stupidly) never occured to me to even think about when dd started school.

Hi everyone, good weekends.

man, you seem to have a lot of defecation related problems... Sorry you had such a - erm - crap week. On wards and upwards, eh?

I love love love camping. I love it so much la di da. I've got a huge giant fuckoff tent, which has been under wraps due to baby, but think we're going to get the beast out again this summer. Can't wait. Looking at Croatia. Anyone know it/recommend anywhere.

I am going to be bossy and try to get this meet up sorted. Next week on either Tuesday or Thursday? At the animal park in the arse end of nowhere Blindham? What does everyone say?

Frosch, what make stilltee have you got? I had one that was effing revolting, tasted like bloody curry powder, but found another which was a lot more palatable. If all else fails, fenchel tee is good. Just avoid peppermint tea, and not too much black tea. Glad lo doing better.

I went out on Friday night - another Indian restaurant. It was organised for parents from the IS school, so we didn't know who was going. In the end there were only 2.5 other couples, one of whom was a scottish couple (plus visiting sil) they were so funny, I had the best night out I can remember, laughed all night. Hope we get to meet up again - in fact, I'm going to meet up with the sil tomorrow, but as she lives in Glasgow, that's not much use to me, but she was so funny and interesting.

Made be a teeny bit homesick, well, not so much homesick, but keen to visit north east again. How the hell do I get to Newcastle from here? Scotland seems possible but Newcastle not? I'vet ried to look into but going round in circle. Thought I found direct flight from Innssbruck, but now think only in Winter. hmmm

Man, pretty impressive your dad can still travel so far at that age. How long's he over for?

Enjoy the weather everyone

Frosch · 08/06/2009 14:16

Here is the disgusting concoction. I have now bought a pack of fennel tea instead. www.hipp-schwangerschaft.de/produkte/natal/bio-stilltee/

DH was an absolute star, didn't bugger off to Barcelona after all and instead hung around the delivery suite with his new camera (I have an excellent shot of my catheter ) and was very supportive when my norks stopped working and had to get the pump out. He's going to take DS down to Nurburgring for the German GP, which will give me and DD a girlie day together...

Wish I lived closer to the arse end of nowhere, would definitly be up for a meet-up. Oh well . Am I the only one in the Westerly bit?!

canella · 08/06/2009 15:19

will post properly tom - no time today but i'm bursting with excitement - we've just had a full asking price offer on our house!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll be accepting that then!!! hope it all goes through - we could really do with that money!!!!

ErnestTheBavarian · 08/06/2009 16:25

canella, that is really fantastic news - was it the woman coming for the 3rd viewing? congratulations

hupa · 08/06/2009 17:38

caneela - that´s great news, you must be so relieved.

Frosch - glad dd is doing so well. How has ds taken to having a little sister?

Ds has now got slapped cheek, so is covered from head to toe in a rash. Dd had it a couple of weeks ago, but neither of them feel/felt ill, so probably one of the better childhood illnesses to come down with.

ZZZen · 08/06/2009 18:06

"DH was an absolute star, didn't bugger off to Barcelona after all and instead hung around the delivery suite with his new camera (I have an excellent shot of my catheter ) and was very supportive when my norks stopped working and had to get the pump out"

LOL sounds like a pitstop at formula 1, doesn't it?!

Good news on the house canella. Bet that's a relief

Good to hear that you are doing so well and that your DH was there at the birth. We are getting back into watching F1 now that my cousin is involved. We are cheering on his team. I hated the Stilltee too, and Fencheltee and pretty much anything not PG Tipps.

Talking of which, a friend here has ordered a parcel from a British online shop that ship to Europe. Should arrive next week sometime so I will let you know how she got on. She has put an order for 1150 PG Tipps for me (you pay for the max KG price so she had about 7KG left to fill and asked if anyone wanted to order)

Ernest
Ah, you see. You need some Scots around you.

I met a MNetter today. My first ever MN meetup. She posted a while back about moving to Geneva and we exchanged emails for the last couple of weeks in the run up to her move. She has been here a week or so and is still a bit overwhelmed by it all so I met up with her for coffee then we went to the park.

It brought it all back to me. The first weeks of disorientation, the frantic search for a house (although my search was not quite so frantic as theirs) the worry about how the DC will cope. It was incredible to look back and see how far we have come already.

FIL just phoned to say that he has spoken to MIL and almost persuaded her to stay an extra couple of days to help DH while I am away.

I am keeping out of it but am annoyed that

  1. None of his family asks to come and visit, they just book their tickets
  1. They have the impression that DH is so hopeless that he can't cope for a couple of days alone with the kids
  1. We are in the position of havign to say to another member of his family that we don't want them to just make travel plans without asking first.
  1. The kids are in school all day on Monday and Tuesday so she will be sitting around on her own

It was the way he said it, as if it were a foregone conclusion. It also means that instead of a nice day out on Wednesday (his birthday) we will have to arrange to take MIL to the train station.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HH

MmeLindt · 08/06/2009 18:16

Canella
Congratulations on the offer, hope everything goes smoothly.

MmeLindt · 08/06/2009 18:18

ZZzen
Say HI and GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW to Admylin, dying to know how she is doing and how her DC are enjoying life in the Lakes.

MmeLindt · 08/06/2009 18:42

Phew! Entwarnung. DH has spoken to his mum. I suspect that SIL had her fingers in the pie and told MIL that she should stay longer cause DH was saying that it was a shame that they were only coming a couple of days, most of which when DH is working.

ZZZen · 08/06/2009 18:53

the school sounds like a dream come true so on that count, everything is fabulous for admylin's dc who seem very happy and thank goodness for that. Will try and drag her over but she isn't online much at the moment.

The family sound a pain ML, might be the time to get the fumigators in or have the bathroom retiled or something noisy, dirty and offputting. Then you say, "oh I AM sorry but why on earth didn't you ask us BEFORE you booked tickets?"

Sounds a bit like an enemy invasion whenever his family comes to visit.

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 08/06/2009 19:02

I really don't mind them visiting, I just wish that they would ask rather than just telling us the dates of their train/plane tickets.

Maybe it is a German thing.

Frosch · 08/06/2009 19:12

Hi Hupa - DS absolutely adores her. We were a bit anxious but maybe the five-year gap and the difference in sex means that he doesn't see her as a threat. But he's furious with the rest of us. Sent him to bed last night when he didn't want to go and he screamed "You're FIRED!!!" I tried so hard not to laugh...

What is slapped cheek? Is it like scarlet fever?

Canella - well done with your house! My parents have bought a house around the corner from us and need to sell their place in Wales; nearly two years on and not a sniff of a move.

MmeLindt - where are you going? Is DH OK with this?!? BTW, I use www.english-shop.net cos it's only 20 minutes' drive away. The UK cheeses are not great but I can get Branston, Milton fluid and mags there.

Is your cousin at BrawnGP a factory guy or a flyaway guy?

ZZZen · 08/06/2009 19:15

Your dp are moving to Germany Frosch?

OP posts:
ZZZen · 08/06/2009 19:16

ha ha ha you're fired!

Nice try buddy.

My dd says "you're not the boss in this house mum". I say, "I am actually". She mumbled something once like : "no DAD is the boss" but I soon set that right.

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 08/06/2009 21:02

LOL at "you're fired". Is he an Alan Sugar fan?

My cousin is more in the management line, Frosch. What is a flyaway guy? The guys who travel with the F1 circus? As opposed to the factory guys who stay at HQ? I guess the F1 has their own internal language, it seems to be like a seperate little world.

Schulte · 08/06/2009 21:15

Guten Abend. May I come in?

MmeLindt · 08/06/2009 21:31

Willkommen, Schulte. Are you in UK or in Germany?

ZZZen · 08/06/2009 21:52

yep schulte, just a minute whilst I (could you move a wee bit to the side ML - thanks) roll out the red carpet.

Does no-one ever hoover on this thread. Talk about dust storm.

Sorry about the dust schulte, but the grey hair suits you, honestly it does.

Just been listening to someone called Juliana von Bulow (who might she be then?) talking abotu the difference between the British and the German school systems. Interesting. Apparently the British system is about Anerkennung and the German system is dominated by Neidkultur. Can't be bothered googling to see who she is and what she knows about it.

Feel a name change coming on though, I am coming over all aristocratic. Anyone else fancy being geadelt?

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 08/06/2009 21:56

As long as you don't expect me to do any housework, Zzzen, I have enough of that in RL at the moment while I try to get everything MIL-perfect.

You could be EntspannungVonZen

HHHagenVonTronje · 08/06/2009 21:56

yes! I like it.

evil cackling and twisting of hands....

HHHagenVonTronje · 08/06/2009 21:58

EntspannungvonZen is good, very good in fact, I like that. Might do that tomorrow.

Will have to change the answering machine I think, something like gnädige Frau ist nicht zu sprechen

HHHagenVonTronje · 08/06/2009 22:05

I've found housework and Zen incompatible, ditto MILs (just not good for my inner balance). They get between me and my Erleuchtung and I can't have that.
