...
Wieder flattern durch die Lüfte
Süße, wohlbekannte Düfte
Streifen ahnungsvoll das Land
Veilchen träumen schon,
Wollen balde kommen
Horch, von fern ein leiser Harfenton!
Frühling, ja du bist's!
Dich hab ich vernommen!

Admylin, just posted on your other thread.

Very cold and windy here. No snow though yet.

ZZZen · 24/03/2009 11:10

not sure gracelo. Do they have a uniform shop where you can actually see the items? I assume jog pants are thick cotton and exercise pants are polyester - more like what you'd wear for dance/aerobic but I really don't know. Sorry no help!

taipo · 24/03/2009 11:12

Are jog pants long and exercise pants short, maybe?

admylin · 24/03/2009 11:17

H has announced he'll bring the car so the dc don't get soaked after school but that he'll be working 3 hours at home then going back in to work. He's just seen yet another Medical research council job in London to apply for too so he tells me.

westvan · 24/03/2009 11:18

I can't believe it's snowing in Hannover! We're also having a thunderstorm at the same time. How nice. We leave Saturday for two weeks Easter holidays in Denmark - it's supposed to get a bit better on the weekend but who knows.

admylin · 24/03/2009 11:20

My only hope is that I get out of here in my plane - nothing is going to stop me I hope! How are you feeling now Westvan?

MmeLindt · 24/03/2009 11:29

AAM
Sorry to hear about your evening how disappointing.

Canella
I can ask my friend about a shop for Indian/Chinese/Thai ingredients in the Rhön. Her parents live in Oberweissenbrunn and are real Weltenbummler, I could imagine them buying stuff like that.

Fulda is good for shopping, btw. Not to far from you.

If you go to Wü, head into the centre of town for a while and when the DC get fed up you can go to the Ringpark (behind the Residenz) to the playpark. The area to head for is Kleinnizza, go through the archway at the left of the Residenz, past the back of the Residenzgarten then turn right. You will come to a wee duck pond with a playarea tucked in behind it. It is great with wee ones as it is fenced off so they cannot escape so easily.

And have a Geknickte (Bratwurst) am Marktplatz.

A friend of ours had a visitor from USA and she left him for a couple of minutes to go to the bank. When she came back he was tucking into a Bratwurst and she asked him how he managed to order it, as he spoke no German. He said that he stood in the queue and listened to the people in front of him and repeated what they said, "Eine mit". This is why he got a Bratwurst mit Senf. If the guy infront had not liked mustard then he would have got "eine ohne".

It snowed for 10 mins this morning but the sun is shining again at the moment.

I met with some women from the AIWC, they do a kids group on Wednesdays and are looking for new coordinators. I am going to do some stuff for them, will be a good way of meeting folk. I was a bit Stepford Mom and took freshly baked scones

I rang the school. I go there tomorrow to have a look at the clothes.
Just had a fire alarm, I'm soaked.

westvan · 24/03/2009 11:33

I'm sure the weather will be much better by the weekend, Admylin. I'm still not feeling all that great, thanks for asking. Stupid digestive issues are driving me crazy. Another doc's appt tomorrow will tell me more. Just trying to get things figured out before we leave on Saturday.

Great Bratwurst story! That's they way to do it - you're not quite sure what you'll get, but at least you get something. :-)

ZZZen · 24/03/2009 11:35

hope you get some decent weather in Dnemark westvan. I liked it there a lot. We've been 3 times in summer but it always rained a heck of a lot of the time so we have shelved Denmark for now. Whereabouts ar you going?

westvan · 24/03/2009 11:41

We've rented a little house near Ebeltoft on the Baltic Sea. We were there two years ago also at Easter and it was lovely, about 16°C every day and I think it only rained once or twice.

Mummyfor3 · 24/03/2009 11:53

Just popping in to say hello .

I am at work and not supposed to even have MN open on my computer...

I will not be v reliable or consistent contributor as RL interferes something terrible with my MN habit. Hope that will not be considered too rude.

Gracelo, I had major panic over school uniforms last year when DS1 started! He got away with 2 school trousers (now replaced as too short and holey ), 3 short sleeved shirts, 2 polo shirts and shorts for PE, 2 sweatshirts, 2 ties. I also bought a warm jacket with the school's logo on it which he did not wear much, little sod! Anything that was not specific to the school I got from M&S as not too dear and v non-iron . DS2 will be made to wear the jacket this year

Right, off to earn my keep now.

MmeLindt · 24/03/2009 12:17

Have just put in an order to Marks and Spencer. Do you know that they are doing free international delivery at the moment?

OP posts:
taipo · 24/03/2009 12:31

Oo must check that out. Is it for a limited period only?

You are always very welcome on here Mummyfor3. I've started working again part-time and also find RL interferes with MN far too much.

Wonder how theGabster is getting on, and also Ernest.

ZZZen · 24/03/2009 12:47

RL is a right pain at times, isn't it? Hope you can get around it and find your way to the thread fairly often mummyfor3.

RL is dragging me off to yet more choir rehearsals today. Don't feel like it since they've cleverly arranged for it to be held miles from anywhere today at a totally inconvenient time for everybody. Bless them. At least I have a good book to read.

What's happened to Frosch eh? Ensnared by that monster RL no doubt

ZZZen · 24/03/2009 12:48

Come to think of it I am always moaning on here that I don't feel like taking dd to choir or swimming or feel like having the violin teacher over etc. Why I sign her up for these things in the first place I'm starting to wonder. Think I need my head examined

admylin · 24/03/2009 12:52

Same here, it's a drag getting them to these activities. I don't know how some mums manage, especially the working mums.

ZZZen · 24/03/2009 12:56

I know I wonder at times when they have a lot of dc and all doing ten thousand different things. They must be bionic.

We do too much a lot I think because I feel I have to compensate for her being a single dc

ZZZen · 24/03/2009 12:57

what did you order ML?

MmeLindt · 24/03/2009 13:18

Ach, just noticed that one of the winter coats did nto go into the basket. Have already sent an email to ask if they can add the coat.

I ordered some jammies for the DC, coats for next winter, this fantastic mac for DD, chinos in several colours for DS as he has holes in all his jeans and some socks. And a denim jacket for DS.

All in all £80, I worked it out as 90euros, I would pay that just for the jackets here.

Thank God for online shopping. Which reminds me, I need to do a grocery shop.

OP posts:
admylin · 24/03/2009 13:37

Wow, mmelindt you did well for that price. You're right it would cost you that for 2 jackets if you wanted something a little bit different.

I hate it here when you see all the little girls in the latest tchibo cardi and all the boys with the latest tchibo jeans etc, you might as well have them in uniform! There isn't much choice here if you don't want to spend a fortune that is! I'll be kitting my 2 out for summer in UK too, I'll get loads more than I would here.

admylin · 24/03/2009 13:42

That M&S website is really tempting.

abroadandmisunderstood · 24/03/2009 13:59

What happened to Ernest?????

OK, another problem in the AAM household. Today was Kochtag in the Kindergarten. Schnitzel und Pommes etc. DS1 didn't eat any which is frankly bizarre as it is his Lieblingsessen. He's also got bright red cheeks. The teacher thinks he is ill and I wonder if it is slapped cheek disease. What on earth would that be called over here?

He's chirpy as anything but a nasty cough...

Got to call the doctor in half an hour which should be fun! I can't believe she shuts from 11am to 3.30pm!!!

westvan · 24/03/2009 14:02

Slapped cheek disease is called Ringelröteln.
