Everyone here is panicking madly. I can't decide if I am not taking this seriously enough or if they are being OTT. Perhaps a bit of both.

Am glad you enjoyed Chicago Bunkups Don't envy the drive home! Although it sounds as though the DC did really well.

Mush for SB Or else I make it the night before and put it in a loaf pan in the fridge and slice it and lightly fry it, but most of the time I'm far too lazy.

I guess there's some sort of Swine Flu frenzy here, because there's a whole bunch of vendors from Mexico that are arriving this afternoon for Portland's big Cinco de Mayo festival. Just another reason to avoid the stupid drunks down at the waterfront in my book.

I crack up whenever I see the little paper coffee filter type masks. That is seriously going to thwart germs, right?

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 23:55

Thanks, Dooney.

Several cases of SF here now, including 2 workers at the hospital I can see out of my window. Eeek.

I just caught up to the goji berries story. LOL, dooney! I am so at my lack of culinary skills now.

Trying not to get sucked in over the swine flu thing. You know lots of people in Asia wear masks during flu season as a regular precaution. Hmmmm, could be a business opportunity for over here....

AnnieLaurie · 01/05/2009 04:38

I just read Jabberwocky's post as "..lots of people in ASDA wear masks during flu season"

AnnieLaurie · 01/05/2009 04:46

Oh, humph, AL the thread killer.

No-one is around when I finally stick my head in the thread...

Oh well, only 15mins til Gray's Anatomy...

AnnieLaurie · 01/05/2009 04:47

Everyone has got better things to do on a friday night.

AnnieLaurie · 01/05/2009 04:48

eek, it is only thursday

AnnieLaurie · 01/05/2009 04:49

10mins til Gray's Anatomy...

AnnieLaurie · 01/05/2009 04:54

Maybe everyone is off making popcorn in time for Gray's Anatomy?

5mins til Grays Anatomy...

SuperBunny · 01/05/2009 14:26

lol Annie.

Masks don't seem like a bad idea, do they?

I am sitting here in full set of blue scrubs and mask. Just scrubbing in for breakfast.

hi, up date on dd & her 'behaviour issues'.
well, we have an appt booked for july, and i have huge reams of paperwork to complete.

on the 'connors' form where i have to grade0= not true, never, not at all to grade 3 = always, all the time etc.

Q105 is 'my child is perfect in every way'
shall i give her 4 out of 3?

not that worried about swine flu atm, i remember all the tosh about bird flu. would be different if we lived closer. i hadn't realised that all the schools in mexico have been shut!

jabberwocky · 01/05/2009 21:54

you heard it first here - another business opportunity lost

Bunkups33 · 01/05/2009 21:59

I have a question on birthday party etiquette. DDs 5th bday party is on sunday. We invited the whole class of 20 (basically because she told everyone about it and couldn't decide which ones to invite). Anyway only half have RSVP'd. Does this mean the rest are not coming?? Might some still turn up?? Is it normal to not respond?

It is a good thing that I don't see anyone around me with surgical masks. I might smack them.

I had SO much fun today.

chefswife · 02/05/2009 04:53

i can say that i have completely avoided the whole swine flu discussion because i've been catching up on tv episodes i've missed on the internet and haven't paid much attention. whew. going to check now to see what the situation is here in Victoria. aside from that though, its been fab to have spring here. what is everyone up to for May 24?

SuperBunny · 02/05/2009 06:01

Kickass, absolutely - 4/3. Of course your DD is perfect . I was once asked (as part of custody issues) to list DS's qualities. So, I came up with a huge list (charming, intelligent, spirited, empathetic, enthusiastic, curious, affectionate, polite etc) then said, "This is silly, I'm his mum, I'm biased" and the questioner said, "Well, you'd be surprised at the number of people who can't think of any good things about their children"

Dooney, what did you do that was fun?

No idea about [arty etiquette, Bunkups, sorry.

What is happening on the 24th?

OP posts:
kickassangel · 02/05/2009 14:48

isn't it 25th? memorial day, a public holiday.

I'm flying back to BLIGHTY for 5 weeks. I have lied atrociously to the in-laws so that i can spend more time with my parents & less with them!!

kind of excited & worried at the same time. dh is staying home alone & i'm doing a tour of the uk, cathcing up with friends, but think i'll be exhausted by the end of it all.

sb that is shocking that people can't think of positive things to say about their kids, though i did encounter that when i was teaching. i just wonder, if that's how you feel, why do you bother? i'm sure someone would love to adopt your child & think of lovely things about them, if it's too much trouble for you. especially if it's during custody discussions - would they not even try to fake it?

SuperBunny · 02/05/2009 15:17

Oh - Memorial Day is the 25th. I have no plans.

Home so soon, Kickass - how lovely.

When I was teaching, I often came across people who seemed to dislike their children an awful lot. At the time, a colleague had been ttc for 10 years and was rather miserable. We joked that we could have one of Witney's siblings because her mum a) wouldn't care and b) probably wouldn't even notice. Whitney was one of 5 children, each with a different dad and she would come to school in sandals in the snow because "it's my sister's turn for the shoes today" West Yorkshire in the Millenium

I just did some shopping with MIL, went out to eat a lot, and hung out with family. Nothing special, just fun.

It is raining for Colin's baseball jamboree this morning, of course. Off to the beach this afternoon. Not sure if I'm ready, but DH is.

SuperBunny · 02/05/2009 16:36

Sounds lovely Dooney - am glad you has such a good day

OP posts:
chefswife · 02/05/2009 19:51

we've always called it 'May 2 4 weekend' as Memorial day usually falls within that date and a case of beer has 24 bottles in it. it was also the weekend we opened the cottage or, as teenagers, the first camping weekend of the season... which usually only consists of bikini's, tents and sleeping bags and a case of beer, (or two).

kickassangel · 02/05/2009 21:09

i will NOT be telling dh about the 24 bottles of beer for may 24, he will think he has to drink them all in the one weekend, guess i could help him out there!
