Hurray for Sibble!! GrinWine

Hope you've got it earmarked for some treats.

Incidentally, if someone finds my get-and-go, could they return it to me please. I have an assignment of 2000 words due tomorrow, I've written (badly) about 1000 words so its going to be a very late night finishing it off. And yet I'm sitting here pottering about with the ipad making sure it will be an even later night!

vvviola · 09/06/2013 10:48

Obviously it's my get-up-and-go I'm looking for. Sigh. 'Twill be a very long night I suspect!

Sibble · 09/06/2013 20:03

Thanks all. VVV I hope you managed to get some sleep.

And the money - yet to receive the cheque but it is already spent on a pair of boots and a top. DH thinks I'm mad but I decided to give half to my colleague, we'd worked together on the study and abstract and it felt like the right thing to do.

Sorry ladies, been laid low with this horrible flu thing, its been 2 weeks already :-( And then the flippen computer blew up!

Sibble, how fantastic for you! And how fantastic of you too.

Vvv, hope all went well with your paper and justa, that the boys (all of them Grin ) get well soon

It's DHs last week before he starts work, and I am desperate to be better so he can have a lovely one, rather than sleeping on the spare single mattress on the freezing floor in the spare room so he can get away from my interminable hacking at night. I have been cooking him all his favourites though, so it's not all bad! Lol

All the energy I now have thanks to having finished my assignments is being taken by my battle against black mould.Confused

How does it get everywhere? I mean, I've lived in some pretty grotty places as a student and just after and I never had such a problem with mould. Blush

I know housekeeping isn't exactly my strong point, but I just don't know where it's all coming from!

This evenings planned activity of doing as little as possible in front of the TV has now been replaced by scrubbing mould of drawers & window surrounds.

I may have realised one of the reasons the previous tenant left (& why they told us a different story from the owner)

WhatSheSaid · 13/06/2013 08:35

Does your place not get much sun vvv? Do you open the windows for a while every day? A dehumidifier may help.

vvviola · 13/06/2013 08:40

It gets a bit of sun - not as much as out last place though, especially the kitchen which seems to be the worst place for the mould.

I'm obsessive about opening windows & we've been running the dehumidifier every day for the past month.

DH did a bit of digging about and suspects that part of the problem in the kitchen cupboards may be the crappy dishwasher venting steam behind the cupboards.

I will scrub everything (again!) and keep going with the dehumidifier and see what happens. We were taking today about when we might ask the landlord about extending for a second year - if I can't get on top of this without spending inordinate amounts of time with rubber gloves and bleach every couple of weeks, I think that's a conversation that just won't happen Confused

frikonastick · 13/06/2013 10:50

iTunes. I am having an iTunes crisis. I have American iTunes and I previously bought iTunes credit via a website called cardmommy but they are now no longer in business. How can I get USA iTunes top ups? Please please please can somebody be way smarter and savvier than me and come up with an alternative? It is my only vice. Really. And seeing as I have given up being funny and beautiful and thin and drinking and smoking and brilliant sarcastic rejoinders that pass for wonderful conversations, I am quite seriously not prepared to give up my iTunes

OP posts:
vvviola · 13/06/2013 11:13

Frik - two options. First, I think you can get iTunes vouchers via eBay - private sellers getting vouchers and selling them on I think, nothing official, but worth a look.

Secondly, and possibly more use as a permanent solution. You can have 2 iTunes accounts. I set up a NZ account when I got here (mainly for the trademe app which you can only get on the NZ store). You just set up another apple ID with a new email address (I just created a new gmail one) and you can switch back and forward in iTunes. The thing is though - or at least as far as I can tell - once you have bought and downloaded the music/app/whatever it's there on your device so it doesn't matter what you are signed in as.

I'll see if I can find the article I read that showed me how to set it up.

Grin but these days justa, it's mostly b accident!

Vvv thanks, that would be awesome

vvviola · 13/06/2013 11:48

Frik - I can't seem to find the article I read, but this seems to confirm it's as easy as just setting up two accounts (I think it was newly discovered when I did it, I only found one article at the time, but there seems to be loads now)

Hope everyone who has been sick is feeling better.

I have survived my first week of work and I think I can see the glimmer of a career on the horizon again. I thought I had killed it stone dead by having DD.

But man, am I tired. It has been super stressful being the new girl.

Sibble · 13/06/2013 20:17

Is spotify an option - not itunes I know but from memory $7/month subscription and downloadable onto all your gadgets. I run the free version on my laptop because I am too lazy to upload it all onto my ipod, keep it up to date and faff around (I am ashamed to admit I have about 20 songs on my ipod via itunes but heaps on spotify!)

Sibble · 13/06/2013 20:18

oh and GPM congrats on your first week at work - it is knackering but I love having something that's mine - even if it is work sad I know!

Actual real laugh out loud at going to the loo alone, I was just this very minute feeling wistful about my last wee of the day in peace before DD gets home from kindly Grin

Penguin, I am jealous of you starting work. In fact i am terribly jealous of DH too. I am quietly dreading him starting on Monday. Fuck sake, I'm already bloody lonely enough.

Sorry, am a bit sixes and sevens. Hormones I think. Yay for being a girl!!!!

OP posts:
giantpenguinmonster · 14/06/2013 04:06

I have an office in a very trendy part of town. Next to a coffee shop. But no chair or desk till next week. I have wee'd alone though Smile.

Frik- it has taken me three years to get a job. And this is sort of a sidewards step from the career that is my passion. But it looks like I may get to do more of the bit I love than I had expected. My aim is to learn as much as humanly possible in the the six month and survive the office politics without pissing everyone off.

BBQWidow · 14/06/2013 04:42

Well done on surviving your first week at the new job GPM! That's a huge achievement. I'm now 2 months into my job and I feel like I know nothing. It's quite different to things I've done previously, but with occasional familiarity.

vvviola · 14/06/2013 08:35

Well done on getting through the first week penguin! Grin

We're just back from DD1's school disco. It was unbearably cute, but I had a sudden flash forward to 12/13 years from now... and it was terrifying Wink

Operation "Leave DH with DD2 and see if he can get her to sleep" was an unmitigated disaster though. Confused

giantpenguinmonster · 14/06/2013 09:59

Hope you DD2 are okay Vvv.

I'm having a shoe crisis. I need smart girly shoes that I can wear with a skirt/dress. I wish I could still wear DM's. Or maybe even ankle boots.

Can anyone recommend anywhere to buy shoes that are comfortable and don't cost a zillion $$$? I've tried Hush Puppies and Ziera.

WhatSheSaid · 14/06/2013 10:13

Marks and Spencer's are still doing free delivery gpm if you want to get something online. I just got the dds some shoes from there for $9 each.
