She recovered fairly quickly when my boobs I returned Grin They'd actually had a lovely time right up until bedtime, which was lovely.

I have actually seen some nice looking boots in Farmers recently. I keep meaning to go back and try some on.

Sibble · 14/06/2013 20:57

Shoes - Overland??? Not the cheapest but don't fall apart after 5 seconds and usually comfy from the outset.

Sibble · 15/06/2013 00:36

Very excited - dh and I have tickets for the theatre tonight in town. The boys are off to friends for the night so DH has surprised me with a last minute booking for hotel and pre-theatre dinner with friends we havn't seen in ages. I have just dropped ds2 off and he's dropping ds1 off then we're off into town. It's been 3.5 years since we spent a night in a hotel without the boys Grin. What am I most looking forward to - swim in hotel pool and sauna and looking at the city lights from room tonight - I miss city lights. Off to pack!

WhatSheSaid · 15/06/2013 00:56

Envy Jealous Sibble. Haven't had a night away with dh since 2007. Or possibly 2006. It's been so long I can't even remember! Have a great time.

vvv. Do lots of parents stay at your school disco? They sort of encourage us not to at dd's school - well you can but it's $10 an adult ticket and I think they don't really want too many parents to stay. Probably because the hall was busy enough with about 200 kids in there! Dd1 just had her first disco the other week and loved it.

frikonastick · 15/06/2013 08:19

Lovely sibble! Although, I can think of something else that may be on my list of things I would be eager to do..... Grin

Went to the Field day in Hamilton, was really fun, but flippen cold!

My eldest is having a sleepover party tonight...god almighty it is loud! They're still going strong at the moment. 9 year old girls. Says it all really, doesn't it.

frikonastick · 15/06/2013 12:08

DD has her first disco on the 21st, it's at kindy. I didn't realise kindys did dances too, but DD is very very excited about it. She told me that I would also have to dress up 'special like ladies, not mommies'. I've told DH if I have to go, so does he!

BBQWidow · 15/06/2013 12:09

I used to love kindy discos. They were just adorable.

vvviola · 16/06/2013 22:22

I think there may have been more parents than kids Grin They definitely encourage staying for the junior disco (years 1-3). Not sure about the older kids. They even have a parents room where is was rumoured there was wine. Didn't quite make it there.

I'm having a woe-is-me day for no apparent reason. Am sure it will shift soon, but it's usually a sign I need to see people. So, anyone free for a child-free (for me, have no objection to spending time with anyone else's kids Wink) coffee on Friday. Anytime before about 2:30? Justa? XMinerva? Anyone else?

And/or... I have a meeting at uni on Thursday that should be finished by 11:30 or so. I could do lunch/coffee in the city??

frikonastick · 16/06/2013 22:55

Oh god. ME. I am free. I think I would even walk to Auckland if it meant coffee and a conversation.

Actually, that's a mighty fine idea. As soon as DH gets his company car, I think DD and I might go on a road trip

congrats justa - this is the lucky thread!

vvviola · 18/06/2013 22:26

I won't have DD2 on Friday, so wherever suits you and the boys is perfect for me (although having seen your FB post, perhaps you should be taking it easy??)

Sibble · 19/06/2013 00:49

poor ds1 has broken his thumb at rugby training. Apparently while this affects his ability to write (pointless going to school), doing hockey for PE today (can't hold stick or easily get dressed/undresssed) it will not affect his ability to play in the inter-school tournament next week Hmm.

DH is equally mortified - apparently this is his 'rugby career' over - he's 13 not an All Black and it's his thumb! Now who's the drama queen Grin

frikonastick · 19/06/2013 06:39

Oh no, poor DS! Typical dad response I think, my dad banned my brother from rugby when he got tackled badly once, in order to protect DBs tennis career! In fairness though, my brother did go on to play professionally, but still smarted from the rugby shame for years Grin

WhatSheSaid · 19/06/2013 07:06

Dh had to have a knee replacement at age 28 due to playing rugby - but if we had had sons he would have been desperate for them to play too.
